glen parva fox Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Once upon a time there was a tavern Where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours Watching the boys in royal blue Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose Those were the days yes those were the days
Soup Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I'm an old pen 3 till they opened pen 2 lad, and would say in them days your right, win, lose or draw the atmosphere was great. But again football has changed, the days of getting in early to get to the top of the pen by the away fans, and singing an hour before kick off have gone, and that's purely down to seating and reserved seating, also the loud music played until kick off. When we played shit in them days, and we were, very, you could jump around, have a laugh and still make it an enjoyable atmosphere, but in this day and age, we have a good concourse, play bad and then silence. If we could keep the away concourses and take that into the ground it would be great, but I think we have been lucky to have enjoyed real football terraces, and atmosphere's. Just to add, I noticed at palace and qpr, the end was disjointed, left side great, right side great, then the middle was dead, with a lot of, how should I put this, I think I will go with, not your typical football fan, so the songs were never sung as one, as the left side sang a song, and by the time the right heard, it had died out. Rightly or wrongly the people who now follow the game, don't have the same ideas of what an atmosphere is, the game, due to pricing out a lot of the lower class, has become very middle class, in my opinion. I agree totally and it does my head in that its come this. But there is still a pulse and I'm not giving up yet.
Monsell1976 Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 So if you think our players are happy to loose and pick up the wage why support us. Sorry I do not get that and the day I feel the whole team is just happy about the wage I will give up my support. Right where did I post the players are happy to lose.
PAULCFC Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 All we needed to do was win that game sadly our fans let us down. See the players thoughts after the oxford game. Been a seson ticket holder at Filbo and the walkers/kp or whatever it's called now.... and that Oxford match is still the most memorable.Stood in P3!Feel sorry for the younger people who have never experianced a game like that....and i'm only mid 40's!That's the only time i ran on the pitch at the end.......and didn't know what to do when i'd got by the stewards!

sylofox Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Right where did I post the players are happy to lose. Your comments made it sound like you thought they were happy to pick up the money. I do not agree with what they earn but talking about atmosphere at a game what has that to do with it unless you are moaning about it. Players love an atmosphere wage has nothing to do with it. They do not block out 30k giving it large and think I just earned 40k in the middle of a game.

I bet no one that day moaned about standing fans. As I remember it from pen2 the whole ground I could see stood.

See making assumptions again, I did not say just the money made a diference on it's own.Try reading what I said before making assumptions and jumping in with sarcastic comments, the point being made is, the crowd in my opinion doesn't motivate the players as they say, the modern day footballer in my opinion, due to money, fame and ego's have more like pop stars status, with pay and adoring fans, and the fact is, they do like the attention from fans, but I'm not convinced the fans can motivate the modern day footballer like days of old. All opinion.

But my point still stands anyone that goes to a game and thinks about what the players earn should pick a park side to support. I support the club and shirt and at a game that is all that matters. Match day all that matters are the points.

Stadt Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 This is so funny "Leicester Shitty lalala!" Instead of Leicestershire "We always sing when we're losing, Because we're always looooooosing We only sing when we're losing!!!" "Staying up you're having a laugh, We've beat the Manc's What more can we ask!" "Nigel Pearsons Blue and White pansies!" "Luis Van Gaal can **** off and die, Nigel Pearson out played him with our shite, Vardy ripped them apart Ulloa scored from 12 yards But we'll all still end up going down!"
sylofox Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Ok no worries, personally couldn't careless what they earn, just care how they play. Right now I don't 1pt or 3pts in the bag who gives a fvck how we play.
PAULCFC Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 It was one of my best days down filbert street, that and Cambridge at home in the playoffs, now that was an atmosphere. Went to the Cambridge match, but didn't get in!These were the days when you just paid at the turnstiles and when the ground was full that was it!Still remember a load of us taking turns looking through the gap in the big blue gate that was on the corner of Filbert Street.Had a kickabout on Filbert Street as well..Not the pitch! As i remember there were loads locked outside and we had an improptue game....god knows what the people in the houses thought.
Monsell1976 Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 Right now I don't 1pt or 3pts in the bag who gives a fvck how we play.Well in better circumstances, right now they could play like blaby united if we got a point Just be glad when this runs over
sylofox Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 I think it will soon be over and unlike a lot I think we will have cheer this week end.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 We all know it will be dependent on how we do. It always is. Go two down early on, it will be like a morgue. And I expect there'd be booing and Pearson out chants. Go a goal up and the fickle brigade will get all excited.

Took my kids Peterborough away the other season, so they got to experience an old terrace, they loved it, my lad got squashed at the front and my daughter was shocked when random people hug you when we scored, remember this black guy in his 40's hugging everyone . But after all the stories I told them of the old pens, after they sampled a bit of it, they could see why it was great, and they wish it would come back.

veezeeblue Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I am gonna sing my bollox off - thanks for your support
Voll Blau Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Sorry but :xmaslaugh: And it's attitudes like that which are preventing it. There's no reason why the place couldn't be rocking like it was for Man United every game. If people realised how much enjoyment they could get from singing and supporting their team all game the whole Kop would stand every match. Too many tossers from the county these days. OK.
steveherbe Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Too many tossers from the. County??? What about outside of the county then? Looks like Eastleigh or Winchester City for me based on that ridiculous statement
