My mistake. I think that team was still better in a lot of areas actually. Having Peter Taylor and Harry Bassett in charge for most of the season didn't help, and we threw away some leads I remember.

Bassett inherited an impossible situation. Considering what he took over, at least he got us competitive to a point, and through him we ended up with Adams in charge, which worked out well.

No :ermm:

Anyway, who ever remembers the team that came 2nd? Whether it be losing in the play off final, or being the second worst at something

Cheers mate. I simply didn't know the answer.

I guess the only important thing is that we know how poor we have been.

Time to change it around.

What is the point in threads like this, almost like you're reveling in the situation, strange...

Do 'Revels' still exist?... The orange ones were horrendous!

We are already better than Derby 97/08 11 points

And Sunderland 05/06 15 points.

We are level with Pompey 09/10 and Sunderland. 02/03.

So we are out of the bottom 3 of worst prem teams in history league table.

We have plenty of games to catch wolves 11/12 23, Watford 99/00 24, QPR 12/13 25, Bradford 00/01 26, reading 12/13 28 and Forest 98/99 30.

Honourable mention to Swindon 30 and Ipswich 27 both from 42 games not 38 so would be about 24 and 27 by today's standards.

The 29 we gained in both 01/02 and 93/94. (42 games) remains our worst.

Remembering both of those seasons I can't help but think we are a better side now.

It's also amazing how often 34-37 points would have kept a side up. Can we get another 5/6 wins from the last 9 games?

It's tough but not impossible.

No, derby went bottom at the end of October and stayed there for the rest of the season. We won't take that record or indeed any of the worst records they set - already more points, more goals (they scored 20, we've got 27) fewer goals conceded (they conceded 89, we'd need to concede 42 in 9 games), more wins, fewer defeats...

all in all a cracking season then

First chance for a while to get off the bottom tomorrow.

1 point will guarantee 19th place but if Everton beat Burnley we would move to 18th.

3 points will guarantee us 19th place but if Burnley lose or draw we will place at least 18th, if we beat Swansea by 3 goals we could find ourselves outside of the relegation zone in 17th place.

We haven't been able to say this since Stoke.

This is an exciting time to be a Leicester fan.
