All i need it for is to play FM2011 as fast as possible and load more than 1 league at a time and to stream porn quicker. What should i be looking for in terms of: 1. Processor 2. RAM 3. HDD 4. Mine goes quickly with about 15 leagues running and runs the 3d match engine despite only having a bulit in graphics card. - Intel Core i3 (Dual core, 2.13GHz) - On board graphics (you'll need one with a better card if you want to play graphically challenging cames at high specs) - 3 or 4GB RAM - 250GB hard drive Picked that up from PC World's refurbished section for £330 I think. Apart from that what Haydos said really. There should be no end of mid range models with pretty similar spec to that. One thing I would bear in min is hard drive space, because imo if there's one thing you can sacrifice it's that. This as well, I've done exactly the same as mine only came with 250GB and I'm partial to the odd film download. Even cheaper if you buy separate parts and put it together yourself. Couple of years ago I spent around £400 quid to put together a PC worth over £1,000. Laptops typically cost more for the specs and have cooling issues, but I want to be able to move around my house freely with my computer and easily take it elsewhere. Check out overclockers.co.uk (they do laptops too). Just make sure you don't go highstreet with whatever you buy. Places like pc world really rip people off! I think i've narrowed it down to two, and would prefer to buy from John Lewis due to their 2 year warranty: HP Pavilion DV6-6004SA Laptop, AMD Phenom II, 1.8GHz, 6GB RAM, 750GB with 15.6 Inch Display Acer Timeline X3830T Laptop, Intel Core i5, 2.3GHz, 6GB RAM, 500GB with 13.3 Inch Display I'm looking in around about the £500-£600 price bracket and these two are the same price - but which one is better? I would prefer the smaller size of the Acer. I've also been on the CPU Benchmark website and it seems the Acer's i5 pisses all over the HP's AMD Phenom II's processor. But the HP does have 250GB extra space. Somebody please help me make a decision? Which is the best value for money out of these laptops? Thanks. Overclockers are your best bet and they are reasonably priced, just bought a £900 tower from there last month and it runs everything at Max settings. However I'm guessing your not in the Market for a decent gaming pc but I would say to get a desktop instead, miles better performance for less cost!
