Stuliasz Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Max Gradel sneaked the first online Man of the Match award of the season as voted for by the Leicester City fans after pipping brace-scoring Matty Fryatt at the post. There were good ratings elsewhere for Matt Oakley and the back-pairing of Michael Morrison and Aleksandar Tunchev but it appears the youngsters lost out in the battle to impress the fans with Andy King, Joe Mattock and not so young Steve Howard being the worst rated players who played long enough to qualify for the awards. No-one came away with a mark worse than average though so Andy King can probably feel harshly done by earning this award (if you're reading Andy ;-)). Full results shown below: TOTAL VOTES: 122 (thank you!) Man of the Match: Max Gradel - 8.24 Flop of the Match: Andy King - 6.31 Best Defender: Aleksandar Tunchev - 7.04 Best Midfielder: Max Gradel - 8.24 Best Striker: Matty Fryatt - 8.19 Full Ratings: 1. Max Gradel - 8.24 2. Matty Fryatt - 8.19 3. Matt Oakley - 7.16 4. Aleksandar Tunchev - 7.04 5. Michael Morrison - 7.02 6. Lloyd Dyer - 6.80 7. Kerrea Gilbert - 6.70 8. Paul Henderson - 6.47 9. Joe Mattock - 6.393 10. Steve Howard - 6.385 11. Andy King - 6.31 12. Paul Dickov - 6.28 Voter Awards Note: Only what I would consider 'serious' votes are used here - anything +/- 2.00 of the overall team average has not been used. This eliminates the voters who voted all 10's or all 1's for example. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions regarding this, let me know. P.S. If you don't want to be included in this, let me know. An opt out option will be included on the site in the near future. Top Voters: Tommy G / sheffield_fox / Joeyb / Ricey / Mikey / TVFA / simon / Bert / louie0316 / Leicester Lass / A Fox For Life / Paul / silkman / Lee Parsons - 6.92 (worked out on how close the voter was to the overall average) Most Generous Voter: 1st - imaginethat - 7.92; 2nd - vince - 7.67; 3rd - Andy Needham - 7.58 Harshest Voter: 1st - fleetfox - 5.33; 2nd - davieG / NSLL - 6.17; 3rd - Munzie / Steve W / Sooper Steve's Shin / Tom / volpeazzurro - 6.25 And just a message from me...thank you very much for the turnout. I didn't expect this many votes for the first game when people didn't even know the site was even going to be there until after the match. Apologies for those affected by the bug that stopped people voting straight away but once it was ironed out, everything went smoothly and the ratings came flying in.
dandannieldanok Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 P.S. If people want to know who was the most generous/harshest voter etc., let me know and I'll post that up too Yes, post any other stats, good work

Looks like this works quite well, keep it up for every game!
Sparky Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Harsh on King , im sure people marked him down to piss Thracian off ps , good work Sheff

Bryn Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 I reckon you could knock all 11 of the starters up by a full point and it'd be more accurate but that's just me.
davieG Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Thanks for all your effort Sheff, much better than the MOM / POTM polls.
Joe. Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Good stuff Sheffield Fox, a nice feature we've got here now. DavieG are you going to use these MOM stats to conclude a FT player of the season at the end?
Thracian Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Yes...what did Thracian give Dyer? None of the above surprises me at all. New signings usually get a good response early on as well - it justifies the accolades they're given just for being new signings. Remember all those who wanted Nielsen and Kaebi in the side without even having seen them and then it was Lackko and Bori? I gave Dyer 5 0 or 5.5 because he played okay for one half and because I didn't see much of him at all in the second half. I'd give him the same mark voting now. There's always been a general core of support among the FoxesTalk fans in favour of experienced players as opposed to young ones, apart from Mattock. It surfaces on many occasions and, although the balance has gradually started to swing, I don't think the diehards will ever change nor ever intend to change. My point is probably best emphasised by Howard getting a higher rating than King. To me Howard started well enough but had just one off target shot - how poor is that for a striker? He got injured early on and was substituted. His contribution to the match was minimal. Even the five I gave him was generous whereas King did much to help contribute to our clean sheet over 90 minutes and in helping us get forward. It's nothing unusual for people to disagree with my assessment. Not many wanted Gradel in a Leicester shirt 12 months ago. But I said after the Kettering that King's presence in midfield would help stablise the back four - because of his aerial ability and ability as attacker or defender - and although two games is not long enough to be certain it will last, that has certainly been the case with only one goal conceded against Palace and MK Dons. So my conscience is quite clear, thanks.
davieG Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Good stuff Sheffield Fox, a nice feature we've got here now. DavieG are you going to use these MOM stats to conclude a FT player of the season at the end? I'd have thought that would be a natural outcome of these ratings, but people may, if we have a good season prefer a good old fashioned simple poll.
Stuliasz Posted 11 August 2008 Author Posted 11 August 2008 Good stuff Sheffield Fox, a nice feature we've got here now. DavieG are you going to use these MOM stats to conclude a FT player of the season at the end? Player of the month and season awards will be included as part of this. If people want to do a polls as well then I have no problem with that but I will be running Player of the Month and Season awards based on each match's ratings.
Thracian Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Harsh on King , im sure people marked him down to piss Thracian offps , good work Sheff Nothing new in that. And yes, a big "well done" to Sheffield Fox.
Stuliasz Posted 11 August 2008 Author Posted 11 August 2008 Did you count the votes from Phil McKrackin? Yes, only four votes weren't included in the voter awards 3 of which voted every player at 10 and one wasn't far off that. And for the record, Phil McKrackin was in the generous category ;-)
Asha Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Did you count the votes from Phil McKrackin? I would actually laugh iif someone were called that.

Those results are too low for that performance!
sdb Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 Harsh on King , im sure people marked him down to piss Thracian offps , good work Sheff King was our worst performer without doubt on sat (imo). wasn't awful by any means but his pass completion rate must have been 40-50% max, which aint great for a CM.
Lillehamring Posted 11 August 2008 Posted 11 August 2008 excellent stuff, i would suggest now would be an excellent time for JTB to step up to the plate and generate some kind of graph or chart to track performance, on going averages etc... or IOWfox, i seem to remember him being equally anal EDIT: scratch that licky emoticon, not comfortable with it being next to the word 'anal'...

I'm all over that. Give it a few more games and I'll start doing some analysis. That is, of course, if sheffield_fox doesn't mind... Surely he can't crush my dreams AGAIN?!
