Summer Transfer Thread

I'm surprised they let Ankergren go to be honest. I thought they would've kept him for his experience, even if he's a bit average... I'm going to look out for Schmeichel though. Could be the long term replacement for Sørensen.

Zigic has gone to Birmingham.

Potentially a very good signing

Has he been capped yet by Denmark? I'm guessing he could qualify for England.

Just at U21 level.

No, just at U21 level. It has been brought up in the media over here when he had his short spell in Man City's team, but he pledged his allegiance to the Danish NT. But you are right, he could be available for the English team if he wanted to

Birmingham look to be making some pretty tidy signings. Foster and Zigic so far, and theyll probably get N'Zogbia eventually.

Not as good as Hart though. so they'll be weaker in that position

Think that's a 50/50 call - all Foster needs is a bit of confidence and he'll be a great keeper.

I think Foster will be better than Hart eventually

Ben Foster is 27, how much longer is going to be a potentially good goalkeeper. He's had one season as first choice at Watford and a few dodgy games for Man Utd to show for ten years of playing football and some how got 4 England caps off of that.

Can't see Foster getting any better really. His decision making is awful. He's a decent shot stopper, but give him a hanging cross or a back pass under pressure and I wouldn't trust him to deal with it, and thats not something thats really going to get any better with training.

I seriously think he could be a massive flop in the Premiership next season... the expectation will be on him to do well, he's got a reputation to uphold from his time at Leeds, he'll have loads of other strikers to contend with... perhaps next season will finally bring the smug bastard back down to earth.

Beckford will do ok i think but a bit suprised a team as high as Everton were interested. I'd have thought Stoke/Blackburn etc.

As for Foster, decent signing but definately a step down from Hart who for me is gonna be the best keeper in the prem before long.

Agree.

Massive step up and his well-documented ego probably means he isn't going to be the type to take the necessary steps from the manager and coaching staff. Buggers Leeds up though, which could be a good thing from our point of view.

I disagree. Moyes seems to get the best out of his players. He's a top class manager. I also can't help but feel in that link which DavieG posted that there was a cheap shot at Simon Graysons managerial style when discussing his new manager Moyes.

"I've been impressed a lot by him. He seems like the type of guy who will sit down and tell you where you're going wrong, what you're doing right and what you might need to work on."
