MPH Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Few weeks ago i stumbled accross this little Gem. In short, you download it, click on it and let it load up and then go to the BBC , ( or ITV i guess but never checked) website, and the i player tab mysteriously appears - it makes them think your computer is from the UK so gives you access to all the i-player programs including match of the day and football league show. watched some of the England rugBEH game live today too Wait for the green icon to appear in the bottom right corner icon menu tab box thing and away you go. download.cnet.com oh, and its free.
Kent Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Really wish I'd have known about this last night, would have been able to watch the Derby game on Sky Player rather than some laggy stream. Ah well, cheers for the link. Edit: Provided it works with Sky Player

MPH Posted 14 February 2011 Author Posted 14 February 2011 and Sky player is a British subscription service so as long as it thinks your in the UK and have paid it should work Do you not have to have a sky tv monthly subscription to have access to their online sky player? I'm not sure why anyone livinging outside of the uk would do that...

It's all installed properly, but I guess I have to switch off my Mac and sign in again to make it work.

After you've installed it, an icon appears on your desktop, if you click on it, you'll see a blue and red circle in the blue menu bar at the top and right of your screen. If you click on that you will activate the proxy and the red will turn green. You can then check your IP address and it should be somewhere in England. If you are using a email client like Entourage you'll have to disconnect before you can send mail; incoming isn't a problem. The other issue with staying in proxyland is that Google will direct you to all UK sites eg Amazon UK. It works well with iPlayer but if you download something make sure you are connected to My Expat first otherwise the file will disappear.

Did everything as explained by the My Expat website, but upon installing the software, I couldn't connect to the server and I still can't do so. I did access the software via the icon in the upper right hand side of the screen (in the menu bar). Sent them an E-Mail regarding my problem. Hopefully, it'll be sorted soon.
