And unfortunately poor and costly mistakes at critical times during matches will define his performance

True. Hope he tries Hamza as an inverted full back. He can't be much worse defensively than Justin has been. Also an inverted full back may help RVN's style -

How has Justin got so bad. Criminal defending for the first letting him cut inside and shoot....it was so obvious Gakpo was going to do that and was probably being drilled into him all week. -
Totally agree. Almost appears to be an agreement they came to as part of the Enzo compensation fee to find crafty way to assist with FFP on both sides with homegrown players providing "pure profit" etc. Reminds me of when we made an unrealistic move for Nzonzi from Stoke all those years ago in 2015 who was on the way to Sevilla. It was probably a gentleman's agreement made as part of the Huth transfer for us to bid for Nzonzi to increase his value as Sevilla then raised their bid to match our higher bid.

Yep he has clearly lost a yard of pace and isn't as explosive off the mark since his unfortunate injury. He looked to rely on his pace a lot when defending against tricky wingers so it appears he is struggling now that he's back up to the level of the Premier League
-
Also he was against Summerville in the second half who isn't on the level of Kudus

Ruud awakening for the Premier League!

I think he can build a good attack but I'm not sure if I'm convinced he can sort out our very dodgy defence which is leaking goals. Hopefully RVN will prove me wrong... -
Were also very organised at the back when we played them
-
Don't understand how he is the only CB who hasn't been dropped yet
-
Swings and roundabouts. You can also say we are lucky Ndidi stayed on the field as probably would have been sent off midway through the first half by another ref
-
There are a lot of poor teams in the premier league this season. I'm going with 33 points to survive.....
-
Rather than the results, I think it's the type of football he is trying to make us play and the nature of the performances which is the most frustrating. We look like an average championship side at present with a lower than average championship manager.
-
Most important signing we need is a new manager....but surely we can't wait until January.
-
True. It's strange that Cooper chose to play this system for the first time this season against a strong counter attacking team which could be considered it's Kryptonite. Albeit it did work very well in the first half until Forest tweaked a few things
-
I think after building up some game time, Ricky is still quality. They were the first minutes he has played all season against a top winger in Hudson Odoi with no cover provided in our system. However, Justin has no excuses.
-
A new CB.

Agree with the Cooper bit as he appears to be a very average manager and is tactically behind the elite managers you now get in the Premier League. However, I will agree to disagree... in my opinion we made forest look poor in the first half as we played a different system with positional play, inverted full back, etc. They didn't appear to be expecting that which is fair enough as it's the first time we've set up like that this season. Then after Nuno had chance to adjust things with his players at half time... they blew us away
-
Yep we seemed to be trying to play through the middle of them where they were set up to defend with so many bodies. Last season Enzo used to try to unlock a low block by getting each winger to hug the touch line and switch play quickly to stretch their defence and create holes down the middle. I think I saw us only switch the ball to the other wing once in the last 30mins. We look like a very average team tactically this season. And Cooper's tactical responses and formation tweaks during games are mostly awful and feel like a roll of the dice.
-
Yep world class save. But agreed, the first goal was a Ward moment - took tool long to react and move across the ball and just watched the ball slowly roll on from a long way out. Mads' reaction after letting in that goal said everything really.
-
Yep very good point. They seemed to go more to their wingers with the first ball though rather than the second ball of wood to expose the gap each side on our back three in transition
-
I think he looked quite sharp despite all of the chaos around him. Don't see how he can fit into a cooper system though
-
How many times did we play through their press and get the ball to the edge of the box but our final pass was poor. We at controlled the game for large parts which is very unlike us. We scored a great goal and gifted them a poor one. We can only play one good 45mins in premier league games under Cooper for some reason Mads made a world class save but should have saved their goal - it was a Ward like save, moved far too slowly to let it roll into the corner.
-
It was like a premier league manager up against a championship manager. Cooper got completely out thought tactically at half time and it was beyond his ability to find an answer. The subs he made and formation change made us even worse
-
We were brilliant in the first half and deserved to be winning. It was like watching two different sides in the second half - was embarrassing how bad we were. Cooper doesn't know how to defend in the transitional phase (counter attack) when playing that system which out did us today. Forest played a low block in the second half and targeted us with a fast counter which exploited this. Cooper is just a really basic level manager. May find a way to keep us up but that would really be his ceiling.
