So many things came together at once that season, it would only need one very small difference for it not to have happened

You say you have teenage kids and elderly parents, so your life is fulfilled and has purpose. Not that it's easy.
-
He's done basically nothing in nearly five years so obviously people are going to cut him less slack than someone who regularly contributes.

why as a Leicester fan do you set yourself up for disappointment like this

If we hadn't come back against Villa. I vaguely remember at 0-2 people on here were saying Ranieri was undoing Pearson's good work. If Villa had held on they would've gone one point behind us and, although it was very early in the campaign, I can't imagine our season would've panned out in the same way.

Yeah the mechanical ones. The noise just makes me think of coming out of a club in the very early morning, or being up early somewhere in Europe to get a train or bus somewhere.
-
Street sweepers. Never see them any more. Not sure if that's due to Tory cuts or the fact I don't go clubbing til the early hours any more.

I wish I shared your optimism, and I never thought I'd post that in a reply to you of all posters

I think tbh the fragility thing is not only about rising economic inequality but also the constant, not-so-subtle denigration of certain groups as inherently privileged, and therefore bad, in film and media. People don't want to be associated with that. Though again I guess you can't really separate that from economic developments. Like the Rupert Murdoch cookie meme, but telling both sides the other one is somehow unfairly advantaged.
-
I think it's very bad that different groups now feel they are so much in economic competition. That's been the worst development in the last couple of decades imo, you see how much damage it has done in Britain.

I think there's more zero sum thinking. People scrabbling around for their share of the ever diminishing pie. Fragility and victimhood is one way to secure that.
-
True. People are much more fragile. I wonder if that's due to socioeconomic factors or the fact that victimhood is not only seen now as a desirable characteristic but can also be lucrative. I guess the two things are linked.
-
Yes it's horrible. Being thinking about it all day.
-
Correct. Had a few of their beers and they're very good. This was lovely, not that dissimilar to Tiger which is a taste I like but is not always easy to find.

Tawney by Marble Brewery. Very nice bitter, not very hoppy.

Makes it more interesting at least -
Praet is such a lackluster Perez esque player. Just totally uninspiring.

We seem to have really great runs then a couple of poor results which leads to another good run. Hopefully if we do lose this we can respond in a similar way.
-
If we end up in the playoffs it'll be over after one leg

Watching the scores come in in the same pub I watched the Leeds and Cov defeats. Gonna leave at ht and see if that works

But is it not that the use of helmets and pads has contributed to the sport becoming this violent?

I've had a couple of small ones. I do tend to catch them quite easily (like 4-5 a year) but I've tried to improve diet and habits in the last six months as well as taking vitamin supplements. I feel like I'm catching them less now but also when I do catch one it's a lot milder than before, like just a bit of congestion and thankfully only a day or two of a sore throat.

So much of the post game analysis centres on coaching decisions, schemes, tactics. It's interesting but I feel like there comes a time when it tests the limits of what sport actually is.

I think for those of us of a certain age those commentaries are seared into our memory. "That could be....."
