It's been posted a lot in the pints thread I'm sure but Euston Tap does very nice beer for around 4.50-5 pound a pint if you're in that area.

I thought she'd edited out the bit where the pizza's cooking but looking at it clearly not

I think London has a greater range of good but not insanely priced pubs than most cities. In a lot of places in South England you have good pubs, which are just as expensive as London, and then cheap pubs, which you really don't want to go to.

One thing that the 13/14 team had going for them is they were brilliant in the big games. Got 16/18 points against the 3 teams immediately below us.
-
For sure were were brilliant in the 2nd half of the season. The demolition of Derby was as good as I've ever seen from a second tier Leicester side. I just think people are being pretty harsh on the current team who have managed to establish a ten point lead over 3rd place by December, despite the shambles of last season and the summer's upheavals.

Probably. Personally I can't see hard Brexit lasting that much longer. Although there is still a lack of knowledge in the UK around things like the Single Market which will probably hinder the cause in the medium term.
-
I think the EU debate in the UK ignores the non-economic arguments that are much more common in the rest of Europe. Young people want to be part of the European community and want to be able to travel round easily. Attitudes of under 30s in the UK increasingly remind me of people I meet in Eastern Europe who value the opportunities to be able to travel and work abroad that were denied their parents.
-
On reflection I'm probably underestimating how much economic damage Brits are willing to take in order not to have to admit they were wrong
-
Interestingly this time in the 13/14 we were just about to lose to Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday, dropping us out of the top 2. This was shortly after losing at home to Forest.

I don't know if it'd be that hard to sell to the EU. Polls in most major European countries show good levels of support for the UK rejoining, and it would look great for the EU if voters in an economically stagnant UK overwhelmingly backed rejoining. I agree that full membership probably isn't going to happen that quickly. But this idea that the status quo will hold for another decade or so still overestimates the strength of the UK and underestimates the strength of the EU, which is what has been happening for the last 7 years.

Britain leaving the single market and customs union was absolutely unthinkable even just a few years before the referendum. Even after it's debatable whether a majority of voters wanted it, yet here we are. All because the Tories thought there was political capital to be made from it. So when rejoin is enjoying large leads in the polls (something like +60 with young people), I don't think it's as unlikely as you think. And even the unacceptable terms you talk about might be better for British voters than staying outside.

Face-saving is a big part of English culture

Apart from Watford I can't remember many statement wins from the 13/14 side until January. We were winning lots of games 2-1 thanks to Nugent penalties. That team has the benefit both of following a decade of mediocrity and also of being associated with glory years afterwards. But this time ten years ago I don't remember foxestalk being that awash with optimism either about promotion or staying in the premier League afterwards

Can only echo what others have said. The 96 England team was probably the only non Leicester team I've ever truly loved and whose semi final defeat still pains me to this day. One of my Dad's favorites too. They were about the same age from the same part of London. So today has been a very sad day.

Booked a couple of these. Hoping to go to Normandy - Bayeux, Rouen, Caen. Also thinking of spending a night in Paris. Any recommendations for very typical atmospheric bars in Paris or places in Normandy much appreciated.

Enzo's done it in just three months...

Me too. Think there's a pretty good chance he gets to 190 at the end of this season.
-
This got me thinking actually - 6 (over half!) the team that lost abysmally 0-1 to Millwall in spring 2013 played in the title winning season. That's not counting Vardy, who was an unused sub, and one H. Kane who came on instead of him. Crazy.

Thanks. I do get a feeling though that there is something of a shabbiness to Irish cities, similar to what we see in the UK, due to a lack of investment. No idea whether that creates anti-immigration, anti-establishment feeling like in the UK. I would guess not to the same extent. Every time I go to mainland Europe now it's painful to see how nice most cities and infrastructure is compared the British isles.
-
Yes this is a good point. Most of the team that started 13/14 played in the very inconsistent and often quite crap 12/13 team. I think Moore was the only real change from May to August 2013, along with Vardy obviously getting more of a run in the team and Mahrez joining half way through. Compare that to the current team where 6/11 who faced Coventry were basically new additions, and yet who are already outpacing the 13/14 team, and I think people are being a bit harsh.
-
I don't know loads about modern Ireland to be honest but it seems from what I've read a similar situation to the UK - total lack of investment in infrastructure and housing at the same time as increasing immigration numbers.
-
I'm anti British intervention in the Middle East and pro controls on immigration. Hopefully that's consistent enough for you.
-
I find this argument slightly counter productive. It doesn't really defend migrants' rights to settle peacefully where they want, just says people should accept it because of something they probably never took part in anyway.
-
Don't get it either. I went to watch Orient vs Oxford a couple of weeks ago and a sizeable chunk of the crowd around me missed 3/5 goals by leaving early before half time and coming back late.
