I think him and Thomas have had favourable treatment likely because they were the last cohort to be directly coached/managed by Rudkin. They both had bumper contracts when they shouldn’t have. Probably £25m (maybe more?) in wages between them. Scandalous.

We still have the specialists in relegation in charge of the club. It’s hopelessly naive to think it can’t possibly happen again. Our manager has won 2/25 of his last league games. The club has won 4/25 league games. We have a squad that’s very young, has no depth at all along with lots of turnover. 10 games, 20 games these issues remain. We won some games at the beginning of the season last year but we were poor, we scraped past 10 man Sheffield Wednesday with two set piece goals from CBs. So far we have 2/9 points from three teams tipped to struggle. So spare me the it’s only 3 games bullshit. We’ve had one decent performance so far and yet again we have the most expensive team, highest wage bill and some of the very best players.

What do people think is going to happen after 10 games? It just clicks? We’ll still create chances for the opposition for our own goal kicks, he’ll probably put Skipp in for Page, he’ll persist with his tapeworms in Reid/Burns/Cullen, he’ll persist with coaching choices that mean we won’t cut teams open. Some Rangers would have been saying the same, except it got so bad he couldn’t get to 10 games. He’s had one good season in his career.

Alright fair enough. He’s shit though and he’s a Martin favourite. To add to the initial point - his coaching isn’t conducive to lots of chances and selections make them even worse. Prior to the season everybody would have been fuming with 2/9 points. Now we’re here there’s an undercurrent of “Well it’s going to take time to embed all these players…”. What if Martin is just shit, exactly like his record suggests?

Martin’s suffocating handbrake football

Don't think I've read any positive reports about him from followers of the academy. Braybrooke on the other hand was always touted to do well. Hopefully he goes and flourishes but I'm really not expecting much.

We're better with him in the side, absolutely but he's not a very creative player, he's good for 3-4 assists a season. He got 8 with Ipswich in L1 last time out but that's his career season high for a team that scored 101 goals. It was partly why I hated the collective Chaplin + Cullen signings whilst we have Reid. Reid creates f uck all and Cullen has 11 assist in his whole career. Alves has started 15 games in his career and has 3 assists for comparison. Alves, Howell, Watson, Page and Braybrooke need to provide the final ball.
