  1. Because when we get forward the other team are not as settled due to the higher urgency to get it forward, its also harder to defend when the team you playing against doesnt just stick to one style of play.
  2. I think all three of Ofwat.Ofgem, and Ofcom suffer from regulatory entrapment. But I still think an regulator would be far better than the clubs regulating themselves which is basically what the league structure is.
  3. It does feel like it has emotional written all over it, as after all the FFP/PSR rules in themselves arent even rational.
  4. I thinking I really like the Ayew signing now, he will get stuck in to duels which in recent years we have been a very soft touch. Interesting to read as well is a growing number of palace fans who think the loss of Ayew is bigger than the loss of Olise. Growing complaints from them that their remaining players wont get stuck in.
  5. It is good to see someone who liked Enzo recognise we likely would have needed to have a very good window for the way he wants to play and also recognise he could have put his ideology above the best outcome for the team. My thoughts on the football, I wouldnt call it complete chaos, the main differences I see is firstly Cooper is still finding his feet, and the squad also getting used to that, and of course we playing a much higher class of opposition now, but also when things start to fall for us in games, we do still make good passing, the main difference being though that under Cooper we have a much higher urgency to get the ball up the field first in any way possible, and then once its up there we are prepared to build up to a goal. This was the main flaw with both Enzo and Rodgers, they were doing their build up right in front of our goal, or around the centre circle, and people kept calling it pep ball, or comparing it to Brighton, neither of those two teams do that, instead they also get the ball up to the final 3rd quickly, and only then they will start tapping it around, same with Arsenal. It is interesting a lot of people didnt pick up on this. Obviously I recognise the benefit of playing it out of defense vs hoofing it, under Cooper I think we do a bit of both, depending on how much pressure we under. I feel under Enzo, we would be trying to do it all the time, and it would be inevitable there would be goals conceded when Mads passes to a opposite striker or something. I could see as the confidence grew towards the end of the Saints game the football was I suppose to some people more pleasing to the eye, but what I really liked is for once we actually wanted the game more than the other team, I feel it has been a very long time since I seen grit from a Leicester City team, as recently we have been employing flair managers instead of hard work managers, I am also thinking I really like the Ayew signing now as well, he will get stuck in to duels which in recent years we have been a very soft touch. His goal wasnt pretty, but who cares, he took the shot on knowing it was that or full time whistle, if you dont shoot you dont score. I guess I am a Pearson/Cooper type supporter. The team developing an "identity" is a bad thing as its a sign of a stubborn manager and inevitably teams will work out how to beat that system unless you have outstanding players to overcome it.
  6. I will try. Pragmatic means you not welded to one way of playing. Obviously if you expecting us to only play one way, then yes you wont like a pragmatic manager. There is also a wider issue, that managers that want to play a specific way need an expensive squad with players suited for that style, you seen how the summer transfer window went right? If you want to play a specific way, you dont just employ the manager and expect players to be shoehorned into playing that way, you need the squad and budget for it as well. We only need to look at Southampton and Burnley to see what happens when you put football ideology above results, maybe you prefer losing games and getting relegated, I dont know on that one what you want. I find it odd we employ a pragmatic manager and people are making comments like "I cant figure out what he wants to do", well yeah, thats the idea, we not stuck to a single way. Also what works in one part of one game doesnt mean its the key to every other game, I see all the cries that Fatawa should start after a good 30 minutes. Yet earlier in the season he looked lost. I have faith in the manager to use the right players at the right time. It is one step at a time. Learn to walk before you can run and all that.
  7. Watching it now, Momiki controlled that over hit pass so well, and then weaved her way through before scoring, great skill for that.
  8. Glad to see we got the win, hopefully we now get momentum from it.
  9. Will watch this tomorrow.
  10. Apparently he tried them at random and lucked into it. The other story is instead of getting credit for adapting to the game, he should have been doing this from the get go. Yes they still looking for negatives. I am just amazed that we have actually out fought a team at the end of a game, feels so long since I witnessed it. Also that when we sensed the winner instead of a slow build up with no urgency we just went for it, best game I have watched for ages.
  11. Some people want everything done with perfect flair, I dont care how its done, just get it in the net.
  12. I stand corrected, so they didnt score today.
  13. The thing I most enjoy about football is when we score goals, who doesnt right? Goal in every EPL game this season, only Arsenal and Man City have done the same. 12 goals scored, only the top 7 and Brentford have scored more.
  14. Then you will be rotating the squad, if you dropping players every time they get skinned. Good you acknowledge whoever is in front might affect the defensive results.
  15. Doesnt mean we would have started better, games dont flow the same for 90 minutes. Fatawa's energy is probably better later in games against tired defenders.
  16. Enzo ball was poor. The best games we had under him he openly admitted he didnt want us to play that way. His way of play might have been much more enjoyable and effective if we had better quality more suited players, but with what we had overall it was quite poor, massively over playing it to get ball from A to B, and moving the ball backwards and forwards between the same few players whilst in our own half isnt exciting or efficient. The crazy thing is 10 years ago, everyone would ne happy with this, we all thought Pearson was brilliant, but if that era came now it would be very different. Claudio also wouldnt have got the support either, as he was relying heavily on fast effective counters. Now after a few years of Rodgers ball, and Enzo ball, suddenly the majority are thinking its the only way to play the game and everything else isnt good football. I thought it was just Top being delusional, but it seems he isnt alone. When we get good moments in games, the posts I am reading are utter lunacy, claiming its the players taking over from the manager and going against his will. There is so much confirmation bias going on, the human mind is a fascinating thing. Russell Martin is very similar to Enzo, they have very similar philosophies, so you only have to look at Southampton to see the reality. I dont know if its people becoming like spoilt children following a few good years, or just not accepting the reality we need to be pragmatic to survive in this division. Now it doesnt mean I think Cooper is the way forward long term, but I think him or someone similar to him was the way to go after promotion and he is doing a good job. We got pretty lucky with Chelsea coming in for Enzo, 10 million to do something that would have happened around Christmas anyway with us having to pay him off rather than getting compensation.
  17. What happens when the same things happens to JJ replacements? you cant drop players for things like that. We been getting the points we have done due to a pragmatic approach, most managers are stubborn enough that they wont move away from their preferred system and not change things after a game has started. Be happy on the back to back wins.
  18. Sadly its just a one line quote, the rest is Jason's own interpretation.
  19. Thats what I am waiting for as well.
  20. I really dont want to say anything bad about Winks, based on a tweet. Hopefully it ends up on youtube or something. But ultimately there will always be players not happy not being picked, the professional thing to do is not moan to the press about it.
  21. You want him dropped as well now right?
  22. Do you have a link Hales, I have asked and no one can provide one. I dont want to judge Winks until I hear or read it myself. No players should be publically telling the manager who to pick, so I want to see how it came out before I judge him.
  23. I am, our forward play is much better and is a reason we have a much more favourable goals per possession ratio. I dont believe in overplaying the ball, not only is it boring, but its inefficient as well. I stopped watching many of our games last season, was a snooze fest in too many of them.
  24. You still getting it wrong, you are placing blame on conceded goals on one player in a team sport. You also expecting a defender to never get beaten for a cross in a game which is pure fantasy. You just looking for a stick to beat Justin with so there is justification for saying bring in Ricardo. But dont want to say it.
  25. Right, when have you seen this kind of thing get called out so early in a managers reign before and with such intensity? The football is better than what was served up in Rodgers last 18 months and Enzo ball as well.
