I did hesitate for a moment but Guppy played in a team where directness and crossing into the box was plan A. Albrighton in that team and set-up would have been just as good as Guppy IMO. I have love seeing Albrighton make his rather old school winger style work in this more modern era of play, where speed and beating a defender is more expected. Josh Low was a close 3rd to these two...

Just as easily as we could have maintained our huge lead over them if we didn't have our wobble. Swings and roundabouts

I hope Enzo is quite ruthless over the Summer. We probably need x2 starting CBs and a LB with Ricardo the only one who should be starting in a back 4 in the Premier League. Justin to cover RB/LB. Happy with Winks, Ndidi and KDH for now, but we need a very capable player to push Ndidi for that number 8 role and a bully of a DCM. Daka and Iheanacho should be off, and Vardy and Cannon should be competing against a new No.9 bought in to start. Happy with the two GKs with Ward hopefully being locked out Seagrave once and for all. I would like a couple of wingers to come in to push Mavididi and Fatawu for starts. Likely need a player with Wink's skillset as although I would keep Hamza for the squad, he is not at the level to start most games in the Prem. Hopefully, we will see a lot of players being pushed out, some ruthlessly with the likes of Faes and/or Veste plus Daka sold etc. If we stay largely as we are, with only a few additions, I think we will go straight back down. We need to treat this as a mini clear-out and reset.

One of my favourite ever players and will be sorely missed. Best crosser of the ball we have ever had and still showing that ability even today. I liken him to how Pearson just described King, one of the very few who has maximised the gifts he has.

Dare I say, a much needed reality check for Top, Enzo and the players staying? I quite like the idea of them going into the Summer with doubts, rather than a swagger. We need big changes at the club, and this game was a good reminder of that to everyone.

yes, Ipswich - what a team! very impressive

Wow, seriously impressive season by Ipswich! I posted countless times that they would likely fall away. I stand corrected. As for Leeds and Southampton...
-
You just hope that the players staying use this disappointing end to focus their minds over the Summer and pre-season. I never liked this narrative pushed by the media and others, that we are a Premier League quality squad and belong there. I hope Top also watched that with some concern and will know we need to bring in some big players over the Summer if we want any chance of staying up. Overall, a really positive season, but we should be under no illusions, we will massively struggle next season unless we make a lot of changes.

WBA for me. Delia annoys me.

Faes and Veste are absolutely turd at preventing breakaway goals. I'd personally sign 2 starting CB's over the Summer, but suspect we will only sign 1.

+ Russel Martin losing in the play-offs plz!

Blackburn pitch invasion!
-
Only positive to take from this game, is that Enzo and the players staying will know how much hard work they have to do this Summer to have any chance of winning games in the Premier League.

Always a bummer for the a successful season to finish on a loss... That is why beating Everton at the end of 15/16 was just so perfect!
-
Yes, that would be my goal, as it would for Leeds and Southampton. You said it is no achievement at all to be promoted as Champions. I disagree. Finishing above Southampton and Leeds with similar squads, is an achievement. Finishing with (hopefully) 100 points over a gruellingly long season, is an achievement. Having a squad full of overpaid and expensive flops with a hangover of relegation could actually be seen as just another challenge Enzo overcame.

Happy Fox? If I bought you, I'd want my money back due to false advertising!

One of the most easily likeable players ever. Great words from Pearson too. Pearson for DOF and Kingy back to work with him 🥰

This. I don't like to bash our own players, but come on now. This squad, that often gets called a Premier League one, is filled with players that failed up there, not to mention that it was also stripped of our best players in Maddison, Tielemans and Barnes. This is not a Premier League quality squad, and had no right to win the Championship just with the names on the team sheet alone. Even our stand out performers this season, were not performing well in the Premier League just last year. Vardy, 3 goals last season. Winks, loaned out to Sampdoria who got relegated with him. KDH, underperformed and relegated. Ndidi, no form for over 2 years and a shadow of himself. Vestergaard...? A running joke last season! Daka? Faes? The list goes on! Can we please stop buying into this narrative that we have this Premier League quality squad that deserves no respect for winning the Championship in the way we have. It has been a very impressive season and we really ought to enjoy it as a big success! Not downplay it because we were a Premier League team (failing one) last season. P.s Apologies to all the players I bad mouthed. I fully believe you will do great in the Premier League next season... (with additions!)

He's not wrong. Most fans can see that and have for some time. Should it be pushed out into the media though? Nope. Hopefully, Enzo will keep it in house from now on.
-
Honestly Leeds and Southampton are pretty much on par with our squads and could argue even have better players in some positions. We can debate Enzo's style of play and entertainment value, but to say Enzo proved and achieved nothing by making us Champions, is just ridiculous.
-
All hypothetical. I just think Enzo is entitled to feel a bit aggrieved at being kept in the dark on quite a pretty huge thing that impacts the club he chose to Manage. I suspect he will stay anyway, after some guarantees of more honesty and transparency from now on. Rudkin leaving would be a bonus. I do not trust that Rudkin will not make the same mistakes again. Fresh blood please! The squad seem to love playing for Enzo, so I am not sure replacing him with Mark Robins over the Summer would go down that well

I can see Liverpool going on a period of decline now. Not just because of Klopp going, he is actually smart to get out now, as a decline is well due. Just hope Man City get dumped out the league as well, then it may get interesting again.
-
Rodgers talked about restrictions on spending. He never talked about breaking FFP rules, point deductions and transfer embargos. I think Enzo is fully entitled to be unhappy that the club did not make him aware of the issues the club would be facing. The club knew this was coming. I suspect they knowingly hid these things from Enzo, and that has become quite clear to him as things have developed over the last few months. Top needs to make some changes below him and this is just another great reason why he should do that now. A fresh start as we go back to the Premier League.

It's the question that keeps me up most nights.
