I haven't read "papers" but I made my post having looked at the effects of nicotine, albeit online: How Smoking and Nicotine Damage Your Body | American Heart Association Nicotine | Understanding Nicotine & Its Effects on Your Body (drugwatch.com) www.verywellmind.com/nicotine-addiction-101-2825018 Clearly you're better informed than me but there is a definite link between nicotine and what I said in my post. I think the links I have posted suggest that my points aren't "unsupportable presumptions". I never claimed it was "primarily" responsible for strokes etc but can a contributary factor. As can be diet, alcohol, lifestyle etc. I'm not that thick.

I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi but there is something hauntingly realistic about this and the possible post-nuclear scenario. As I've said earlier, having played the game helps, but I could watch it as a stand-alone series.

The artwork on show is very impressive.

Paragraph one. Yes and has been for maybe 25 years. Is that a decent reason to regulate smoking more stringently? I'd say so. Do you then think that the NI contribution is ringfenced for the health and wellbeing of our population? I'd say not. In the same way as road tax isn't spent on roads.
-
Does that include the funding of treatment for addiction, illnesses caused by the "personal" use of naturally occurring addictive, mood/mind altering substances?
-
I would demand 25% commission on any purchase. I've got a lifestyle to maintain and the pension doesn't cut it.

So sad to read this. It must feel overwhelming for you and Mrs "Drums". It made me think about what people say to themselves or to those in grief/worry: "there's always someone worse off than you" as if that's going to make them feel better. I am in a situation of crisis with our daughter and reading your post called to mind the phrase I mentioned. However, whatever crisis is going on in one's life is entirely personal to them and therefore about as bad as it can be for those directly involved and those involved don't really give much thought to anyone that might be "worse off". That doesn't mean they don't get it, but they like you, are in the midst of their own emotions, worries, fears, motivation, thoughts about the future etc. I hope that over time, things will settle and Brendanball will be the thing you vent on most.

Nicotine is dangerous and highly addictive chemical. It can cause an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, flow of blood to the heart and a narrowing of the arteries which in turn, may lead to angina and possibly, a stroke or heart attack.. Nicotine may also contribute to the hardening of the arterial walls, (arterial sclerosis), Sclerotic arteries increases the risk of blood clots (thrombi) forming and being carried in the circulation to other organs. Thrombi can block arterial and capillary circulation to the major organs such as the brain, heart, liver, kidneys and lungs as well as causing a DVT, or deep vein thrombosis which can be limb threatening. It's not a "safe" thing. I appreciate you linked nicotine to not directly causing cancer, but there's lots more it does affect, physiologically.

Do electric cars have gearing? I thought gears were an extra weight that would be an additional drain on battery mileage.

Without the checks and balances in our political system, even with their faults and potential for abuse, our politics could be so much more like America and people like Trump would be supported by those that align to the right wing zealots in the USA, and there's plenty of them sneaking about

Your technical knowledge is unsurpassed

The consensus seems to be that following @FoxesDebtragic loss, it was best to lock it, possibly temporarily, to avoid any possible posts that might have caused further sadness. I don't think any posters would have deliberately posted but it was best not to take the chance. We all know some on here can be stupid, thoughtless and ignorant.

PS. Is there someone you trust who could be an advocate for you and deal with the formalities such as closing Ellis's Vodafone account?
-
I tried to figure this out then I realised you meant more the Britney Spears kind of sock wearing: I do wonder why footballers do this kind of thing, similarly hairstyles. Ridiculous

Do electric cars simply reverse polarity in order to reverse? I could simply Google but I'm interested in FT Google-free responses.

I am genuinely sorry, and what is happening to you must be unfathomable for you and so difficult. I trust you have some support networks outside of the relationships you mention above. BTW, your ex sounds vengeful and vindictive. I started to write a response but I soon realised that I have nothing I can say to offer anything other than, this experience is unique to you. I have had some experience of losing a loved one yet not getting the expected response from some of those nearest to me. Sometimes deflection is a coping mechanism and a form of denial, such as your mum. It also depends on your relationship with her and her relationship with Ellis. (BTW using his name is good. We on this forum can then use your son's name in our messages to you which hopefully will make them a bit more personal and heartfelt. Expressing your feelings and frustrations and all the fluctuating, contrary emotions, your up's and down's, both on here and to your trusted friends is all part of the grieving process and is a good way of pouring stuff out of the MH bucket which makes room in your head for other things. I also think that your daughter is in denial and at the same time wants to protect you from your grief. Maybe that's why she won't talk about things. You are not a bad mum. Any parent would struggle to give the time and effort to their kids at a time like this. Grief is often completely overwhelming and people shrink and withdraw within themselves but, over time come back and gather themselves because if they don't they can cease to function. I don't know if this link might help: Grief Series: What Stage of Grief Am I In? | Best Care Employee Assistance Program (bestcareeap.org)

Wordle 1,032 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Took myself by surprise there.

My mate bought an Audi Quattro in a dilapidated state and completely restored it to new. It was filmed over time by the TV show Bangers And Cash. It took over 2 years and last weekend he took it to the Classic Car Show at the NEC in full working order. The first car shown is his Audi filmed for Bangers And Cash, if you want to have a look.

And a "no more polls FFS" option.

In my experience with the Hinckley foodbank, there are some people that come in and only ask for food that can be microwaved as they have no other cooking facilities.

And farting.

You need to understand the context of the "dark" humour. It helps if you've played the game.
