6th form age 17... Dinner ladies we're always an attraction as they could give you "extra portions" if you were a "good boy". I didn't go to a public school btw but I know a friend who did.
  6. Running home to mummy, sucking my thumb and crying because I failed again (and grazed my knee).
  7. Apparantly now known as TΓΌrkiye
  8. Society has changed and the concern for kids being put at risk for doing such innocent things means most parents don't let them.
  9. I was a Boy Scout and I HATED bob a job week. It was almost invariably weeding paths and gardens. It was always during the Easter holidays so was likely to be unpleasant weather as well. And you had to be in uniform, well, our Scout group insisted. As a Scout I do remember staying overnight at Baden Powell House in London with others from my group and sleeping on the floor before going to see the National Gang Show at the Palladium. I must've been 14? Gang shows are a thing of the past, too. I took part in the Leicestershire Scouts gang show at the De Montfort hall. The Scouts and Guides are a great way of introducing young people to varied, wholesome, character building experiences. Long may it continue.
  10. IME recently, there's no charge for disposing of paint. You can only use Whetstone and you do need a free permit.
  11. I don't think it's "awful policing". It wasn't great, but the police in general have become so fearful of being accused of racism that they err on the side of caution and default to protecting themselves from any accusation in that regard.
  12. Are there are any Sikh judges?
  13. I'm moving there so I can be a homosexual Mexican cat.
  14. I would have thought that the measure of capacity to understand actions and consequences under the Mental Capacity Act would have some bearing on the decision.
  15. He's not my mate. I was merely relaying what my SiL told us. She knows him, I don't.
  16. And the owner is suffering too. Not just with his job but the guilt and grief from losing his 2 best friends. He's pretty much alone now. Is that enough for you?
  17. Was it in your kitchen? What did you do? For reference:
  18. Had exactly this earlier today, twice. Waiting to join a roundabout waiting for cars to pass. I started to move when I thought there was a gap as the car from the right was indicating to exit to the junction before mine, only to continue past it and then exit to my left. The car immediately behind did exactly the same thing. Both were taxis btw. They drive for a living. How can they be so universally bad at it.
  19. Because they're all round @davieG's gaff.

  21. Just shows there no accounting for taste.
  22. A friend was having a difficult time mentally with stress at work so decided to take his 2 dogs for a walk. This was Monday. He returned home an hour or so later. His mind was so preoccupied with what was going on at work that he forgot the dogs were in the car. About 15 mins later he suddenly remembered and went to the car to get them both in. They were both dead.
  23. Same applies when exiting a junction in a queue. I always wait until the car ahead of me has moved off before I look right.
