There is definitely an element of tarring all with the same brush in regards to our young people and there can be no doubt that schools in the sink estates are of particular concern. Fortunately there are many other schools and loads of young people who are more intelligent and savvy than we give them credit for. It's unfair to generalise the "youth of today" based on emotive headlines and shock horror reporting. It might be better for our understanding of young people if there was less focus on the negative elements an more on the positive. It seems to me that those who deliberately focus and film themselves doing something outrageous just to get clicks and likes on SM are a sad minority who are ignorant about society as a whole and it's all about them. As I write this, BGT is on TV and that whole "wannabe" circus is a strong driving force behind what modern society sees as a necessity to be popular and liked and "important". I'd rather revere a war veteran or a lifesaving doctor personally, but those types aren't pushing themselves on SM. They have dignity.

I've never seen that before but it is, from a Foxes fan point of view, absolutely outstanding. So many names and incidents and memories resurrected.

I have. That's how I know and also why I don't anymore. Maybe I should have said "that might be the only time I'll watch this rubbish again".

My fear around this is that as in the 1984 novel, history will be rewritten. The advances in tech, AI, and whatever comes next could really skew our knowledge if those like Musk really get their hands on it.

Link? Context? Please. I need to hear this.

Just listened. There's a lot in those lyrics.

Actually just listened again to that song and really It's not much of a protest song just a song with clever contextual rhymes.

Wouldn't it be great if when we leave this mortal coil we can look down on all the insanity, breakdown, horror and craziness that is world will experience in the future and then we can say "we told you so but you didn't listen". I'm reminded of Billy Joel's "We didn't Start The Fire". But actually we did. More fool us, right now.

Isn't it a bit of a catch 22 though. We could divorce ourselves from the USA and go all out to form military and economic ties with our less powerful allies (which already exist) and risk losing support from America or re-join the EU and risk being at the behest of Strasbourg and their often ill-advised and poorly thought out policies affecting all members, many of which historically, went against our own sovereignty. I'm not clever enough to know which way to go.

Welcome to Foxestalk. You might want to check which topics are relevant to any posts you make and then decide where to post them

If only it were that simple. Inexorably tied militarily and economically, sadly.

My daughter got pregnant at 14 by a boy of 16. We reported it to the police as she was clearly underage, but they refused to take it further as it was deemed to be consensual. We found out some time ago that he has since been convicted of assault and sex with a minor (under the age of consent) and now is a schedule 1 offender. Karma.

We bought our first house (on a mortgage) for £17,500 in 1983, A traditional terraced property in need of work. We sold it in 1988 for £56,000 Now it's valued at £125,000. We bought our current house, a modest 4 bed detached, for £85,000, now valued at nearly half a million! Bonkers.

It might be. Depends on the opposition.

Sadly, our daughter is back in the Bradgate under section. Worse still we have had to report her to the police for making threats to kill us. We've had hundreds, possibly over a thousand menacing, abusive text messages over the recent months but the latest have come during the week when she has been allowed to go to her home for a trial period. During this home release, things kicked off between her and her neighbours. She absolutely believes we have instigated this. Obviously we haven't but she has ramped up her threats as she feels under threat herself. This is mostly down to her paranoid thinking, however these latest threats really did cause alarm and distress to my wife particularly as she is the main target of daughter's anger. She has threatened to stab us to death if we ever go near her, she wants to watch us die, she wants to kill my wife and watch as she falls into her dead mothers grave, she said she'll get to our house even if she has to walk here and will attack us, as well as other monstrous notions. As a result we both felt that there was a real threat to harm us if we had any direct contact and that she might even make the effort to travel to us. Linked in to that is the real possibility that she could attack the neighbours. Daughter called the police during the altercation and they removed her from her flat and took her back to the Bradgate for her own and the neighbours safety. We were advised by the psych social worker and the CPN to make a report to the police so that there was some record and background in case anything should escalate even though we know the chance of us being attacked is minimal, the police officer said "you never know with mental health". Things have calmed down since, but the very act of reporting her to the police was quite upsetting as we don't want her to have a criminal record although her CPN and the police said she won't get one as she is under section in line with the mental health act, unless she subsequently commits a criminal offence. As I said, she is back in the Bradgate Unit but they are pushing for a discharge by the end of the week which is ridiculous given her MH state. We and the CPN and MH social worker are opposing this, obviously. It's just an ongoing situation that never seems to improve and has been our lives to a greater or lesser degree for 30 years now. Still, we take it, shake it off and push on. Fortunately we've got close friends to help support us and we are pretty much used to living this life by now. Posting here helps me personally as I can write about it all without prejudice. Thanks all.

I'm on the list to compete at next years Crufts. My trainer has about 9 months to get me ready for leaping over barriers and running through tunnels and looking well groomed and handsome. (The latter is an easy task IMO). BTW, I hate this cone thing around my neck.

It'd take a lot of spoons of sugar to sweeten the bitterness I feel.

Didn't the bowling alley then become a nightclub for a while? It had like a sunken dancefloor which might have been part of the previous bowling lanes. I seem to remember filling in as DJ for a couple of nights but that was about 1980, so my memory might be false. Was it called Fusion?
