  1. Or Tebay. Beaten to it by the post before mine
  2. There's a Christian restaurant near us called The Lord Giveth. They also do take away.

  4. A while ago someone posted in this topic that there are some good ideas across all major parties but never get off the ground because the nature of opposition is to oppose, no matter what the benefits to the country and the people could be.
  5. Who the hell lets fireworks off in the middle of October? The dog went mad and knocked the Christmas tree over.
  6. That is class I checked out some of their other stuff. Bit mixed, but some clever, satirical and funny songs in amongst it.

  8. If they do it with drinks bottles etc, why are milk carton caps not attached?
  9. The Ambulance service is at breaking point (coincidentally there's a documentary about this very subject on C4 on Monday). Hospitals beds are full and the trickle down is that A&E's are also full which then means non critical patients, such as a fractured hip are further down the line than as other potentially more serious cases are prioritised. That means ambulances are stuck outside A&E with people that need hospital assessment and treatment but are low level and mostly elderly and vulnerable, IME It's unusual for casualties within the city to be taken to a neighbouring hospital. It happens in county towns like Loughborough (Royal Derby), Market Harborough (Kettering (shit)) and so on. Some years ago, I responded as a solo to a woman who'd fallen in the street and clearly had a hip fracture. She was lying in the gutter and it was pouring hard with rain which was streaming down the gutter. She was in pain and wet through. I got soaked too, whilst doing what I could. I was alone and unable to do anything except give morphine and foil blankets. I had to wait nearly an hour with her in the rain because no ambulances were available to come as they were stuck at A&E. I felt awful, bystanders looking on as I just sat with her.
  10. Why did the Wales police fail to act on information from his former girlfriend, and others, concerns about his activity? They failed the victims of Watkins.
  11. We put a wildlife pond in a couple of years ago with only pond plants in it hoping to attract insects and such. This year we discovered 2 frogs that seem to have come from nowhere (as the nearest likely place is over 500 metres away), and made it their home.
  12. 2 days later... Hello, @Countryfox... hello... are you there... are you ok... @Countryfox Oh dear...

Made me laugh out loud sorry, lol. I'm down with the lingo, me.
  15. That seems reasonable for a big job. You weren't being asked to pay in full for the window or doors Ours was a simple replacement of parts costing under £200. I don't mind paying up front as long as I can trust the individual. It seemed a bit off at the time, as if he hadn't the funds to pay the supplier at the time and then subsequently add it to the final bill. We had to pay it first. Another thing is that since paying for the part today, and asking for a completion time, he hasn't replied. I don't think we're being ripped off because he's replaced the initial parts, but the lack of communication and updates is frustrating.
  16. Is it usual for a plumber or other tradesperson to ask for payment for parts before any work has been done? We have a fault with our boiler and contacted an independent heating engineer. He asked me to send photos of the make, model and serial number of the boiler so he could source the correct parts. Then he messaged me a couple of days later when he was at the supplier asking me to send payment for the parts, which I did. He then came out to replace the pressure vessel. Now he needs an additional part and sent me a copy of the quote so I could pay the supplier which again I did. I've never had this experience with other people who have done work for us.
  17. I still remember a teacher at school nearly 60 years ago telling the class exactly this. It stuck with me and I still do it. Nearly all the nondescript shop fronts have such architecture above them, particularly High Street, Gallowtree Gate, Silver Street and around the market place.

It's a deliberate non rhyming nonsensical limerick intended to make fun of the limerick genre.
  24. Interesting. Religious belief must have started somewhere at some time and why?
