  1. I wonder how many would go on to develop cancer?
  2. We used black humour when I was working and it was a way of coping after a difficult job and was also used more generally to alleviate stress among those that work in the emergency services and A&E and other critical areas,. When the crisis is over the sense of relief often comes out as dark humour. It's always "in house" though, because no-one else would understand. Also it's important to say that the dark humour didn't involve the casualty, more about the circumstances and the things service workers (and bystanders) did or said. Maybe this joke is apocryphal after an experience.
  3. I was 11 yrs old when it happened, and at junior school. I watched the coverage on TV and it was very hard to think about at the time even as a young person, and the images are still as saddening now as they were then.
  4. Not really a "joke" is it?
  5. There's more of these particularly in the newer public spaces like supermarkets. They also include baby change facilities and disabled access. One bog fits all.
  6. Brushes it with a balloon
  7. Mrs Para says that about me
  8. The second sentence seems to contradict the first, unless I'm missing something.

This will our pup's first firework season. He is startled by loud cars and motorbikes already. I expect lots of anxious barking. (from the dog, not from me).

Not a success story I'm afraid. We have a 5 month old cockerpoo and he was making it upstairs frequently which we didn't want so we got an extendable fabric barrier which we set up at the foot of the stairs. At first he wasn't big or strong enough to get over it. Now, as he has grown, he has worked out that he can claw the top edge and haul himself over. We cant find any effective defence other than shut all the upstairs doors to prevent access to bedrooms. He then gets bored and comes back down and gets a treat, but he sees that as a treat for going upstairs and coming back down again. He's annoyingly (but lovably), nuts.
  11. I agree. When my mum passed away at 91, I had this Ed Sheeran song played at her funeral:
  12. I have a friend who is a police officer and he related an interview he'd conducted with a man accused of a crime and there was video evidence to prove his presence at the scene. He denied he was there and claimed the footage had been altered using AI. The police then had to prove that it wasn't AI which was very hard to do.
  13. Had to be that bloke didn't it.
  14. H He has an eye for goal, they said.
  15. "I have a vewy good fweind in Wome. His name is... Biggus Dickus". "He has a wife, you know. Incontinentia... Incontientia Buttocks". Surely we can't get a ban for quoting classic lines from Life of Brian. It needs it's own Topic tbf.
  16. Cetuwion, thwow him to the floor. Vewy woughly
  17. For A&E, George Eliot followed by Kettering General. For delays, GE again and LRI and Notts QMC.
  18. From the Coventry Telegraph: Hundreds left waiting in an ambulance to be treated at Nuneaton's hospital They must've been packed in like sardines.
  19. Stop. You'll get the topic taken down...
  20. Current advice from POTUS: inject bleach
  21. Joining the M69 from the M6 where the lanes merge from the M6 and the A46 I was in the left merging lane but I had to brake hard as some dick was in lane one, undertaking a van in lane two. There's so much ignorance and blind stupidity on the motorways.
  22. And again I can't see the point of this "fixture". It should be clear that it's a likely powder keg and the police have very real concerns. Why is nobody at government level listening?
  23. Inevitable as long as there's there's those that refuse to accept and get along with each other and there's thousands of them on every side/faith/political belief/personal beliefs/bigotry and so on.
  24. Which is why the whole thing is very badly judged. I've said it already on here but I'll say again, what is the point? What is the justification? Starmer. His ego and his double standards.
