He's from Leicester, apparently.

News reporting is generally shite and sensationalist when things like this happen.

And in a residential area. Loss of life could be enormous.

Gone but not forgotten and certainly not the death list

Happily, legends of music, art literature etc. but particularly music, have such a rich and wide popular legacy that means they live on through their work. I could go and see the Mona Lisa and other great works once. And I'm done, seen it, it was amazing just for being so famous. The same with the Sistine Chapel and Michael Angelo sculptures and others. Music, I could listen to several times and still come back for more of the same. -
Mods have locked the most popular topic in Gen News yet again. Freedom of discussion is a tricky line to walk on a non-political football forum but IMO it's the diversity of the various topics, in particular the news topic that makes FT quite unique, especially when compared to other football forums that have nothing like we do on FT. There's been lots of insight and often intellectual expression of views on so much that affects us and the world in general. I made a point of reading the news topic and comparing my views and opinions against those expressed by regular posters and learning things as a result. So much will be lost by the removal. I understand mods have to be careful and it must be difficult and time consuming and Mark does a great job of giving us this means to express our views on so many things. Some posters behave badly and draw controversy but it'll be sad loss if we can't regenerate a topical conversational section.

The musicians and other figures we admired in our generation are now of an age where they will shuffle of this mortal coil. More to come. -
Do you seriously believe this? I assume you understand the concept of revenge?

Well, personally I don't give any weight to the likes of Dawn ( I used to be famous) French or Mourinho or any lightweight, flouncy, vapid so called "personality" and I probably wouldn't give much weight to the views of blokes down the pub either. It's their opinion. The sad thing is Dave doesn't have access to an agent or a publicist like French and Mourinho and others do to progress that opinion into the media world. For the press to get hold of it and publish their views, there must have been a deliberate act to do so.

Not many people know Dave and his opinion goes largely without mention because he's not a "personality" outside and away from the pub.

I had a car with holes in the floor pan. When it rained my feet got wet.

I once bought Ford Sierra (in Hinckley) which I thought was a bargain and a decent car until the cracks literally started to appear and when I reached under the wheel arches and into the wing panels I pulled out a load of filler and newspaper. Did you ever sell a Sierra whilst living on Wykin Road?

They were a lovely coat. Smart, well made and reasonably affordable IIRC.

Not real Grebos as I knew them back in the day. This lot aren't as scary. Great band names though.

I was never sure how it worked or what it was supposed to do. I think it was to restrict air entry into the engine when it was first started up from cold and as it got hotter the choke had to be gradually released.

I felt quite the Jack The Lad at the time.

"Greasers" or "Grebos" From the early 70's. Didn't like the "mods" or "skinheads" and there would be frequent meet ups for a scrap, particularly in places like Southend or Skeggy. They used to be renowned for carrying motorbike chains to a fight.

If we're talking coats right now, I had one of these in 1975. I don't remember the cost as it was gift from my late uncle. I treasured it, but it marked me out as a bit of a target for "greasers" at the time.

Any of us can stand on our selective soapboxes and howl at the moon.

I'll get your coat...

Sorry. This is bollox. Do you really believe that if Hamas give up their fight against Israel, that the IDF and Netanyahu will say OK, thanks, we'll leave you alone? Both sides want to wipe each other off the face of the world. Problem is superiority. Israel has by far superior military, weapons, financial support etc. They are the dominant force in this. The issue for me is, that dominance is being directed at every Palestinian, regardless of age, innocence or guilt, civilian or armed soldier. It's totally indiscriminate. Israel will destroy Palestine and they won't care about who gets blasted into kingdom come.

Well, the guy dressed as a native American Indian sure stood out. He clearly didn't get the irony of his costume.
