Bilal El Khannouss joins - Official

Personally I know i'm probably in a minority here, but whilst i understand the comparisons to Dibling, I genuinely think Diblings ceiling is far higher than Bilal, maybe not statistically but just from what i've seen of both players. I think £40m is too high for Dibling, but i'd pay more for him than BEK for sure. Imo he looks like a serious prospect and under Moyes he will improve massively, I think he will end up at an elite club. -

He’s got a lot of potential but I don’t think he’s worth £30m at the moment based solely on his own performances. Sure you can argue that based on other players fees we could demand that, but what has he actually done that’s worth £30m? Hes gone missing in just as many games as he’s turned up and put in a half decent performance, and the amount of performances where he really excelled are few and far between. I agree we can all see his potential, but thousands of players never live up to their potential and end up bang average players compared to what was expected of them. Hes better than the championship, but if Leicester were on the other end of this deal paying £35m for him, most here would not really be that happy I’d imagine. If we get £35m for him I’d applaud Rudkin as that would be decent business. The pool of players that he’s currently in isn’t exactly tiny. Hope he stays and I think his options will be far stronger if he leaves after dominating the championship for a year, but if his head isn’t fully in it then get rid and bring someone in who is. -
James Justin (signed for Leeds, official. 10m.)

£10m is a fair fee, but he was NOT the issue. I'd much rather have him at LB than Thomas or Kristiansen, his pace can make up for the gaping hole we have on the left hand side every time we press the right side of the pitch. Best of luck Justin, heavily criticised during that torrid run where he was making multiple errors under Cooper, but he kept professional and by the end of the season was one of our better players. Works hard and always played for the badge. -
Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)

I'd still offer Chancel Mbemba a 1 year deal with an extension for promotion. Guy is absolutely miles clear of what we have. -

Justin can play Left Back and he's a better player than Thomas. Thomas and Vestergaard individually are good enough for this division, but together they leave us massively vulnerable to long diagonal through balls, the exact issue Marsch has in his tactical system. We NEED pace in both full back positions if this system is ever going to work, so selling Justin seems stupid. Would much rather sell Thomas first even though I like him as a player, looks like we are stuck with Kristiansen for another season so I don't really see this as a good sale unless we can replace him. Since christmas JJ has been a very steady player. -
Charlton 0-1 LCFC, post-match thread

Massively average, club is a mess, squad is a mess, squad selections are a mess, Marti needs to make better decisions, we had a better squad and played awfully, again. Sign Brownhill, bring in Kroupi on loan, sign a proper CDM destroyer and then let either Winks or Bouba go. -
At this point I'd snap your hand off to sign Brownhill.

Fantastic strike.

Honestly, just head straight for the spirits

We said this after the opening game and yet it’s still happening, and it will happen next match, and the match after. You can see a mile away that he’s going to be another stubborn manager that refuses to fix really basic issues in the system. He can have all the slack in the world when he stops making these decisions.
-
It is, but he’s actively picking players that cause problems to his system. So far he’s made the same mistake every game that has left us open at the back, he triggers a press that pushes our entire team onto one side of the pitch, leaving a massive gaping hole on one side often Luke Thomas and Vestergaard. One simple diagonal ball across and we are opened up with ease. He’s made this same mistake in every game so far, and the wild thing is, this isn’t some new flaw in the system that has been exposed, it’s the exact reason Jesse Marsch’ Leeds team were opened up so easily, we have videos from 2 years ago on YouTube explaining this flaw, and Marti is making the same mistake by picking 2 defenders in Luke Thomas and Vestergaard who expose that. Then picks Soumare and Skipp every match. Nobody is forcing him to make these very basic mistakes that me and other armchair fans can spot a mile away. He can’t be blamed for what he inherited but he absolutely should be criticised for the poor decisions he’s repeatedly making so early on.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

Cash in if he doesn’t want to be here. Another player with a big ceiling but often fell massively short when we needed him last season. Will probably thrive at a well run club like palace so best of luck to him. -
Justin is better than Thomas, and Choudhury has been a better player so far than Thomas also so he can easily cover RB. Nobody is forcing him to play Vestergaard who is completely caught out on the counter pretty much every single time, atleast under Enzo we controlled the ball slowly which led to less chances of being hit on the break, Marti-Ball is a far more offensive system so we cannot be making these mistakes of playing Vestergaard. Faes or Nelson should be there, regardless of how badly Nelson played he is the priority going forward. The issue here is I'm concerned your initial comment will come true in a literal sense, that nothing will change unless Marti gets his players in, that includes Marti playing this system. If he continues to try to play LT/JV as a left side of our defence we are going to finish mid table.
-
Agree he needs to bring players in, but nobody is forcing him to play Vestergaard, and Thomas is not a very strong left sided partner for him if we are going to play this brand of football. He won't have many chances with the fans if he continues to play this style and has Vestergaard in no mans land 5x per match. Early days.
-
Marti needs time but if our transfer budget was £10m, I’d rather spend £7m and keep £3m aside… you know… just incase.
-
Fans video came in showing the players walking over to the fans to clap them, Winks appears to have completely ignored the fans and walked straight down the tunnel (on the other side of the ground) on his own. Not sure if he was near the away end and maybe went over first before the video starts, but if he's just walked straight down the tunnel alone we probably need Marti to be having a proper discussion with the player, doesn't look good at all.
-
That's not the same as being better now though. If he plays how he did today for the rest of the season then I'd say he's better, right now he's raw and needs to develop.
-
No excuses for taking so long to get into the game, and no excuses for not doing the basics. Marti should get time obviously, but we've been awful for 50+ minutes of all 3 games so far.
-
He's showing massive promise but he's also VERY green. He tends to try to dribble round 5 players rather than run into the massive space to the other side, case in point when he lost the ball by running into a pocket of defenders instead of running to the touchline. We then got hit on the counter and conceded (multiple players faults) Monga is not better than Fatawu yet.
-
Absolutely no excuses today. Not good enough and that includes Marti. No excuse for being so poor for so long, no excuses for not doing the basics.
-
He's not bigger than the club yet. He needs to run into space instead of trying to take 5 players on. He's electric but he needs to work on decision making.

There is a name on the free transfer list that is a proven leader in Josh Brownhill At 29 he's not the ideal signing and doesn't have any sell-on value, but he is a proven leader as Burnley captain. Edit: Initially I also said Victor Lindelof as he was captain of both United and Sweden, I knew he had a few injuries last season, but I didn't realise it was 21 games missed through 3 seperate injuries, I thought he was just overlooked. 22 games missed in 23/24 too. Probably a miss.
-
I agree regarding having a clean slate completely, I don't care about what happened before, as it stands I believe we need him if we are going to have a chance of going up.
-
Given how Soumare and Skipp have started the season, i'd be tempted to play Ricardo as a CM alongside winks and not as an inverted full back.
