what’s that got to do with them speaking better english?
-
They are being used to push up our bid and i suspect we are falling right into it

damn, if footy insider says it, it must be true

it’s bloody ridiculous that we nearly blew promotion because we couldn’t afford €2m 6 months ago

My main thing with Wilf, is that when he was churning out some of the best defensive stats in the game, he didn’t once push for a move. At a time when his stock was incredibly high and things were starting to go well for us, he decided to stick with us and go through with our project. Had he left perhaps we wouldn’t have gone on to europe again. Most players see us as a stepping stone and I never felt like that with him, just that he was happy to be here and to be part of our success. Something that imo Ndidi doesn’t get the credit that he deserves from our fans for. We are quick to moan about disloyal players disrespecting the club but not to acknowledge someone who has shown us great amounts of loyalty.

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment

Tears from potter right now -
they basically add on 15m as an english tax

football has so many different outcomes though. The young player could fully flop and leave for nothing .. like kaputska. If wilf has a fairly standard season for himself (i don’t mean the relegation season form) and we went down, someone would probably sign him for more than we’ve spent on his deal. Put it this way, if we were getting him on a free from another club, I think we’d all be quite excited.

someone clearly can’t spot the newt
-
Could genuinely be the difference in us surviving or not. Get wilf anywhere near to his best and this would be the biggest signing we make. I thought his legs had gone but I don’t think that’s the case, more of a mismanaged injury which is no surprise as Brendans regime also destroyed maddison, barnes, ricardo and justin…. i’m surprised we don’t have lawsuits going out
-
tbh they could take him send him out on loan and if he does exactly what he did last year they are able to sell for a huge profit because he’s now associated to juve
-
ability wise, would you say he’s better than philogene? Just curious where this lad is currently at or if he is still a project.

I don’t disagree that a blend is needed. The concern is rather that it’s been said out loud. Is there a need to state you’d prefer domestic? Especially as we have a strong domestic core already. It might all be fine, I just hope we wouldn’t rule out a gem simply as they are not playing football here already. We all dream of another mahrez or kante so I just hope that doesn’t get missed because you can pick up a bottom half prem player who we already know will never reach a higher level

Concerns about the direction of the club
Lambert09 replied to Lambert09's topic in Leicester City Forum
well the party in this situation is fyre festival -
I think that’s the main reason he will be gone. But interestingly, he can still swap allegiances and the danish fans are quite alarmed that if he moves and plays well that Norway will be all over him…. or he can actually switch to england.

Their manager very openly has claimed that the scottish league is not good enough and he doesn’t want to call up players not playing at a high level. Bit harsh on the lad.

The thing is mate, if we’d just got the deals for harrison or Elyounoussi over the line we would have never gone down

Im not keen on negativity in pre-season, particularly not when we have just been promoted but I have some thoughts that I just can’t seem to shake off. My main concern is that the club is undoing a lot of excellent work to get us back where we belong. Now I understand that we are in an unusual position with psr and i’m not going to get into that. This post isn’t about a points deduction, it isn’t about the manager and it’s not about having to sell our best player The concern is that we’ve not seemed to have learnt anything from all of this. Relegation for many was actually a bit of a relief. It granted us the ability for a big reset. Yes we didn’t manage to get rid of he who shall not be named, but we did clear out those that didn’t want to be here ( for the most part). We were able to fully refresh the squad with players that had something to prove and brought in an excellent coach with new ideas and a no nonsense attitude. The owner gave the fans what they wanted and went back to King Power on the shirt. A sign that they realised we didn’t want a dirty sponsor for financial gain. The scouting network seemed to focus on young upcoming stars, from leagues where we could strike a bargain, who would have upward selling potential… a return to the dortmund model. The siege mentality came back and a bit of togetherness was found (yeah we were all surprised that good atmospheres were possible again). I guess champions league football wasn’t needed for that. But then now that we’ve been promoted, I feel like we are back making the same mistakes we did before. Long contracts for players who may not be good enough and have no resale value. A focus back on domestic talent. a sheer disregard for the fans (season cards, shirt price increases, ticket price hike). Ignoring the fan groups. A competition open only to uk or thai fans. (yeah that’s going to annoy the guy in canada who’s spent his life following the club, might be a personal one but why are thai fans more important than me?) Then of course the shirt sponsor. Now I know we have to play the game that everyone’s playing. But the more this stuff drags on, the more I and many others feel pushed away and question if it’s even a game we want to be part of any more. Where’s the line as a fan? leicester completed football, there’s not that one thing I need to see before we die, so as fans of a club like ours, be careful how hard you push us to the side. I’m sure i’m dramatic and the optimists will point out why all the things make sense and there’s always going to be some logic to these things. The club are trying to be successful, I know that. I just think that we are moving away from what just worked and the old mistakes are creeping back in (or just never left). Am I the only one getting the sense that the club feel vindicated and that they are free to continue as they did before? I just don’t feel that the values of the fans are a thought and in what will be the toughest season in a very long time, possibly our history, we could have used a siege mentality. A bit of good will towards the fans would have gone a long way in creating that all so needed 12th man!

when we were doing that, we were successfull… with the standard amount of duds you tend to get… it was the last 2 seasons (and january before) that rodgers changed the approach to focus more on british experience, which was the reasons behind vestergard and bertrand. we never fully stuck local but the message was that it was the preference. There’s obviously talent all over and i’m not sure british experience brings as much, as people give it credit for, it’s just a lot easier to assess the ability. If you trust your scouts it shouldn’t be a problem and seeing as our last seasons international signings were more hit than miss, i’d be trusting them to keep finding gems. You’re not finding a fatawu or a hermansen in the english game , not in our price range anyway.

I’m really disappointed to read that cooper wants to focus on domestic players. It limits what you can get and is quite small minded. Brendan tried and failed with the same logic. Domestic and cheap rarely goes hand in hand and it’s a bit of a recipe for disaster for me. Theres always a few good deals floating around but our marquee striker isn’t going to be one of them and in truth the only player who fits the bill would be Tammy Abraham. We won’t get another player at a decent age, pedigree and with english experience for 20m. Hoping the signing of Okoli is a sign that it’s more tongue and cheek and a preference rather than a must
-
depends what you count as good. Hamer had a ‘good’ season in the prem and i’ve not heard about clubs clamouring to sign him and a 10m fee probably gets that done

it’s basically just posting what some drunk old dudes opinion from the pub was… yet people lap it up
