  5. At the risk of sounding like a grumpy older man, I’m of the opinion that the world is a closer place. Children have lost the “no fear” factor that was maybe lost in the “millennial” generation, as phones, internet, social media and even live news TV, have made the world a closer place. I’d have spent half my time “touching grass” as the young ones say, playing football, on my BMX, getting up to no good, without a care in the world. We didn’t really have anxiety about certain things, as we didn’t really know what was outside of our bubble. Do Children actually do this now? If they’re not aware, is it the parents refraining them from as they see the news from around the world and are afraid to let Children have the innocence of youth upbringing, due to them worrying about what’s always been in the world, but was broadcast 24/7. We learnt stranger danger from a bloke at Primary School who tried to offer us sweets then invited us to get into his car. This was a setup by the school by the way, to educate us not do stuff like this! Now, due to the internet, Netflix, Streaming TV etc we’ve got access to documentaries 24/7 murderers, peadophiles, shootings, gang violence, air crash investigations, rioting etc! Media was once controlled by the newspapers, which was typically 24 hours late. Even the news was delayed on TV, so the narrative could be controlled. News is now broadcast by the general public immediately if it wants to be. Our child told us recently she’d seen the video of a plane crashing somewhere, so was anxious about flying. We’d have never have seen that. We’d have been lucky if it was even on our radar 20 - 30 years ago as a child. In the 90s, if a bloke called Frank had been stabbed in my local town, I’d have had to wait and hear it third or fourth hand, or even at school. Now, you’d just log onto Twitter or your local spotted Facebook group to get all the updated information, photos, videos and gossip immediately. You’ll then have others replicating this as they’ve seen it. Long and short, the younger generation was more aware of what’s going on in the world. Some of its great that they have more knowledge, so they’re smarter. Some of it is problematic. It’s a double edged sword.

This is what I was taught as well.
  7. His missus is Eleni Voulgaraki. Can you see her hanging around Leicester / Seagrave with Rebecca Vardy?
  8. He’s signed for Al-Ittihad on a three year contract. May as well close this topic off @Finnegan!
  9. Joel Matip has been linked on a website called the hard tackle! I’m not sure how serious the website is but he’s a free agent. I saw linked, we’re mentioned in the article.
  10. I’ve suggested this before, almost like a project bank account.
  11. Yes, that was after. i opened it in Safari on my iPhone, then put it into “reader mode” immediately
  12. A wage cap to enter European competitions is what is required. However, this will no doubt mean that the greedy clubs will setup a super league.
  13. So reading the NY Times / Athletic piece on it. We were allowed £105m losses. We had £129.4m losses, £24.4m over. This is worth a read: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5742838/2024/09/04/leicester-city-psr-premier-league/?source=user_shared_article
  14. I guess the serious question is, how many Premier League clubs have gone bust? Portsmouth went into admin in 2010. Maybe Chelsea in 1992ish? Maybe it’s as simple as if you fail to make a wage payment, an independent body is appointed (basically an administrator), who can sell players immediately outside of a transfer window at under market value. That way it clears the debt, reduced wages and the clubs will think harder about being sustainable with that threat. It’s clear that the current rules are over complicated and unworkable.
  15. Ah, Simon Jordan, the guy who took a bridging loan at Crystal Palace, couldn’t pay it back then put them into administration.
  16. It was I agree. I referenced it more due to the fact that the other six have this attitude toward clubs that they don’t want them to be competitive with them. PSR was / is just another road block to prevent this from happening.
  17. This is such a bizarre thing to throw at us, when it happens week in, week out across the league.
  18. If I’m being honest, it’s quite sad that football is being settled in a court of law. It’s good for us as it gives us a fighting chance to stay in this league now. I can see how the likes of Southampton, Forest, Everton, Ipswich will have concerns now. 95% of football fans don’t agree with PSR, its consistency in approach, or the time it takes to decide. The entire policy is a mess. The Chelsea and Manchester City situations are a joke. Everton and Nottingham Forest are different situations to ours as well, however I didn’t agree with them getting deductions last season. I’m glad they both survived last season on footballing merit alone. My personnel opinion is UEFA needs to enforce a wage cap on clubs if they want to enter European competitions. That would then filter down into the top tier leagues. This levels the playing field then and doesn’t mean clubs like the top 6 horde talent on massive long contracts. I’d also rather see players trading that didn’t involve ridiculous, inflated transfer fees as well, however that’s largely broken. My major concern now is the statement from the Premier League. The fact they’re “Surprised and disappointed”, feels like a watershed moment, like when we got the infamous “We don’t want too many Leicester City’s”. How will the Premier League treat us now, on and off the field? PSR rules, relegation and promotion has also ripped this club apart and put us back years. We’ve lost Maddison, Barnes, KDH, Castagne, Soyuncu, Tielemans, Amartey, Perez, Hurst, Evans, Mendy and even Schmeichel to try and comply. Some of that is our own incompetences, however the big six were built on throwing money at stuff and building a legacy. The current rules have stopped the smaller clubs from growing whilst the likes of Chelsea have two or even three teams of players that could compete in this league. The truth is we do want more Leicester City's and by not allowing us to grow by investing our owners own money to prop us up, the Premier League have actually damaged us as a business. We were a massive story, potentially the biggest sports story ever. I’d never begrudge another set of fans any club outside the big six experiencing what we did. It’s brilliant for sporting integrity and takes the game back to what it is at its simplistic form, of 11 v 11 and the winner gets the honours. The stupid PSR rules and the potential EPL favouring of the “larger” clubs has tried to stop this in my opinion. This feels not just a victory for Leicester, but a victory for every ambitious club that wants to challenge the big boys. Maybe not one for this post, or topic, however I’m also surprised that the needle hasn’t moved yet from the bettering companies on us staying up.
  19. Potentially not. Some of our losses might not count toward the stupid PSR calculations, so we could come under the threshold.

Neither do I. She’s quite bland to be honest but that seems to attract every person and its dog.

    Oasis

I remember watching Oasis at Wembley in one of their last gigs. Kasabian were the better band that night. Oasis is just fun as everyone knows the songs and everyone chips in. Taylor Swift isn’t the greatest singer, performer or musician. She’s just the one that fans connect with.

    Oasis

You are very correct! You can tell I can’t even play a triangle.

    Oasis

Other bands have better singers, better instrument players etc However even though I said in the unpopular opinions thread that I don’t think they’ll be great to watch, as it’s a mass karaoke, they are iconic and the voice / band of an entire generation.
