Stop exaggerating - it hasn’t been that good.

Beyond the results, (I know, I know), does anyone really enjoy watching this style of football? 🤷🤷
-
Ricardo and Jannik - ponderous. Vardy and Casadei, poor. Mindest, from the outside, appears all wrong. This is grim watching. I enjoy our results in a shit league, but I’m really not enjoying our football ☹️

Even though for many on here he was the signing of the season. Almost Tete/Daka like 🥴

We look woeful. Absolutely woeful.

Cut to ribbons by the bottom team 🥴🥴🥴🥴

How are we not 2-0 down ??

Is this on the red button?

There are two very good reasons why I’m confident there will be no repeat of that ……. 😂

Perhaps a more challenging question is which playing style would you prefer to watch? 13/14 all day long for me.

Thought commentators were spot on saying Baggies have gone under the radar. I thought they looked very good and have got a decent style to them. They will be tough opponents in a few weeks time.

Just reading the volley of comments over the last few hours - so responding to a broad range of perspectives. Can only speak for myself, but I’m loving the results, but not really the football. I accept that those two things are inextricably linked. But it means when we aren’t looking like getting a result, it’s doubly frustrating as there isn’t huge enjoyment in this style, for me. Said weeks ago, we just need to increase our attacking risk-taking in the opposition’s third by about 20% - to just dare to look forwards, first, rather than backwards. It might add that extra level of pace to our game. I get the point someone made about feeling ‘relaxed’ watching us dominate possession, but I don’t watch football to be relaxed - I watch it to be entertained and excited. I also share a point someone made that we are over-exaggerating the abilities of this squad. That Enzo is getting such results from them, whilst embedding a totally new footballing philosophy, is extremely impressive and he deserves huge credit for that. It just isn’t a philosophy that excites me, when we play the cautious version of it - which we seem to do too often. On the few occasions we’ve played the faster version it’s been excellent. As someone pointed out, that’s often driven by the opposition and how they set-up ….. but not always. Assuming he achieves the goal of promotion, and is given significant funds for next season, it will be interesting to see who he adds and how he tweaks it.

Some rotation and recovery management, for me. Mats Coady Souttar Justin Hamza Winks Fatawu Akgun KDH Mavididi Vardy

My take would be that we barely laid a glove on them, despite having a huge amount of possession. They were the only team that looked like scoring.

We are probably all disappointed by any defeat in the immediacy. Events like that happen. It’s more the pattern that concerns me. We’re still getting results, almost exclusively, so it feels churlish to be pessimistic ….. but it’s hard to deny that the quality of football we are churning out has lost its lustre, for the moment. The club have set a high bar on expectations this season via their performances. There’s nothing wrong in people being disappointed to see those standards slipping. We’re all united around attaining the goal of promotion, I’m sure. And we look well on course. But spotting a potential fall-off isn’t negativity. Just a deep based desire for the club’s continued success that leads to some us being hyper-sensitive to any perceived threat to that success.

That’s three.

In all seriousness, which brilliant chances are you thinking of?

I honestly think we could have played another 90 minutes and we wouldn’t have scored. We just don’t commit numbers forward. We don’t play with any urgency in their half. I called jt Rodgers Ball 2.0 on the match thread and that’s how it feels. Like we’ve lost sight of the aim being to score when you have the ball, not just recycle it for the sake of it. I really, didn’t enjoy that.

Hazma looks a significantly better bet in midfield than Casadei. At least he brings energy. The young lad is way too slow of mind and movement for this level at the moment.
-
Rodgers-Ball 2.0.

This. Our performances are like our passing - only going backwards at the moment. It’s so frustrating to see players about to receive the ball and they are only looking for options that are back towards our goal. 😞😞
