  1. Hey. I was advocating for him to come on. Rather him than Ayew
  2. Run around a lot in a generally uncoordinated fashion?
  3. Ron Howard would score that
  4. And they look very tentative when pressed. I’d rather have Daka on as he’d do that and frighten them into mistakes. They wouldn’t know that he’s more likely to fall over the ball than do anything with it
  5. To be honest it wouldn’t take much to turn this team into something that looks half decent. If Winks and Bilal were up for it we’d probably only need a striker and maybe another solid midfielder. 2 or 3 signings (or more if Winks and Bilal don’t step up) and we’re not too far away, but with that midfield and striker it’s a long, hard, season. Let’s see where we are on Monday
  6. I didn’t say I was unhappy
  7. Not as depressed as I would be just settling for Championship football for the next ten years!
  8. No. Because that would be stupid. It would be nice, however, to play like a team that look like they have the quality to do well in this division and, unfortunately, we look 2 or 3 players short
  9. We’re in desperate need of some control and quality in midfield… … and a striker who actually plays like a striker
  10. I’d go with this team apart from Daka for Ayew. Daka is a dreadful footballer, but at least he presses from the front and plays like a striker. Ayew offers very little in that respect. I’d bring Ayew on later when legs are tired and the game is stretched. He seems to play his best for us as a late sub. (Admittedly this discussion is as depressing as the days when we could choose between Elvis Hammond and Mark DeVries)
  11. Do you think we should offer them Jordan Ayew in Part Exchange …. or will that result in them asking for more?
  12. I still think Mads will be a great goalkeeper at PL level at some point. He was very good for us pre-injury. He may not have made the best start, but id still back him to get there in time. He just has too many great attributes not to. The only reason I wasn’t gutted to lose him is that I rate Jakob pretty highly as well
  13. Ahhh…. sounds just like Patson Daka. (Well, apart from the quick, smart and rebounds bit)
  14. Didn’t see this one coming… ….. “Surprise, Surprise!!!”
  15. I’d agree with you there. It’s all about the alternatives. We’re desperate for more quality in midfield. We needed a better striker before the window opened so no change there. We need 4 or 5 new signings ideally, but a minimum of 2 in the positions stated would do so much to improve the options for the starting eleven
  16. What’s even more suprising is that was 8 years before he was born. We’re clearly in his blood!
  17. I liked JJ and didn’t want him to go. That’s probably mostly nostalgia from when we were good and so was he. Makes sense to sell if he’s in his last year. It will be interesting to see if he can get back to anything like his best. He peaked for us a few years ago
  18. I was thinking today that we’ve been so hamstrung by our last transfer window activity. We needed to buy young players, capable of playing in the PL or top end Championship, that had some resale value if it all went wrong. Instead we bought the likes of Ayew, BDCR, Skipp and Coulibaly for not insignificant sums. We’d actually have been better off signing nobody than that list of players. Now we have no money left and a bunch of players who are incapable of being the difference in this league, costing us too much money and are not saleable (BEK excepted) enough to bring in the revenues we need
  19. Don’t worry. It’ll all be ok next week when Rudkin brings a few new players in 🤔
  20. I was just trying to work out when we had a worse squad than we do now? Must have been pre-2013?
  21. Yeah - but he should be fine for us
  22. Let’s be clear. The real issue here isn’t the sale of Kasey McAteer. He’s an incredibly limited player who’s barely Championship quality. £12m is actually a bloody good deal. The issue is that we’re not signing anyone else. The money won’t be reinvested on better and we have a multitude of other wasters in the squad who are offering no more and costing us more.
  23. Nice lad Tries hard One of our own Good in the dressing room Unfortunately fails on the most important criteria of all: ability as a footballer
  24. I can’t really add anymore to this discussion. I’ve never been more disillusioned because of the current status of our club, but it doesn’t help that I find the whole cycle a bit monotonous and pointless. We may as well decide who is winning the trophies at the start of each season, by committee, and just hand them out
