Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)
Raw Dykes replied to Allenho11's topic in Transfer Talk
I think BR may have been forced to accept that our recruiment team can spot a player better than he can, based on Bertrand and Vestergaard. If he's staying, I hope that he's not allowed to make any more mistakes like those in the transfer market. -
I'm referring to any player, really. If a player or his agent think they can get a better deal elsewhere, then it's likely they won't sign for us. I expect the club won't want to overspend on wages, but they have to pay what it takes to have the players they feel they need. I should think Rudkin et al have probably considered offering more in bonuses and less in wages. For all we know, they might try it every time they start negotiations with a player. It might be common for players or their agents to forgo the bonuses in return for more in basic wage. Just think it's odd that you'd say something is wrong when, as far as we know, there may well be a good reason for it being as it is (and we don't even know how it is, anyway!).
-
Is it wrong, though? The club has to pay what it takes to attract players to the club and keep them here. Let's say two clubs offer similar contracts to a player, but one is made up of more guaranteed wages and less bonuses than the other, which one do you think the player is likely to go for?

I think we might have recently hired a new physio.

Ricardo Pereira signs new contract until 2026

Fantastic news! One of the best full backs in the EPL when fully fit and on form. He's had such a hard time with injuries the past couple of seasons, but the past few months were just the result of an assault, so hopefully (touch wood) he can put that behind him now. Was very impressive in his last game. -
It is an excellent goal return. He's averaging a goal every 93 minutes, I think, and that's with him being in and out of the side in his first season. I think it's easy to forget how young he is, as well. Only turned 23 in October. I was convinced he'd be snapped up by a bigger club before we signed him. So glad we landed him. I agree - I think he will be great for us.

It is a huge improvement over the original.

Underwhelming signings that you were wrong about

Evans is a good shout. Never really rated him all that highly, but he's been immense for us. -
Better from Patson.
-
Nice one, Wilf! Always admired his shooting ability
-
I'm sure every club offers bonuses, but if you're saying more bonuses and less wages, I think players and coaches would probably rather have the guaranteed wage elsewhere whenever possible.

Maybe. I just can't remember the number of seats ever being anything other than 499. I don't think they've removed any.
-
That's it. I think you're right.
-
.

I'm pretty sure it's always been 499 seats. I haven't looked it up recently, but remember thinking whenever the figure was announced that we must have been told we're not allowed a stadium there with a capacity of 500 or more. Edit: Like @sylofox says, I think it is to do with policing and crowd safety.
-
Pretty sure what wasn't the case? The number of seats?
-
It's 499, I think. The club must have been told they wouldn't be allowed 500 or more seats when being given planning permission.

Where would we be if we hadn’t had all the injuries?
Raw Dykes replied to Claridge's topic in Leicester City Forum
You've completely changed your position all of a sudden! I thought we've had a nearly fully fit squad all season? Not arguing about Rodgers. Our injury problems have been a major concern since he's been here. To say our defensive record is nothing to do with the missing players is a bit ridiculous, though, don't you think? Out of our best back 4, one hasn't kicked a ball yet all season, one has only just come back, and the other two have barely played 10 games each. Any team is going to struggle with that. You don't think comparing us to Liverpool is a bit unfair? They're competing for the title, usually, not top 4. -

Iestyn with an I (eye). I'd much prefer Kevin or Amartey at RB in this. Don't know much about Hughes, but if VDC was ahead of him in the pecking order, then I wouldn't be throwing him into a game like this. -

That's such rubbish. Ricardo and Evans have both been missing for most of the games so far this season for a start. Castagne has missed around half, as well. -

I think that 2nd half vs West Ham showed that he hasn't lost the dressing room yet. This game is a really good opportunity to get some confidence back. I wouldn't want to rest too many for that reason. -
Why wouldn't he want a loan? He can do that while he sees his contract out, anyway.
-
Not that great!
