All for workers rights to strike and earn a fair wage for a fair day's work. It's their prerogative and should be respected. However, this strike is not all about pay. It's also about conditions and future working patterns. These include driverless trains. Siemens are building a lot of them at the moment to service the likes of Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo etc. There have been no safety incidents as far as I'm aware, as a result of the driverless trains. Unfortunately, the bi product of this development/ progression is that fewer staff are required to man the trains. This is a red line for Mick Lynch. Furthermore, he probably feels emboldened to persist with the demand that all trains are manned with guards (for safety reasons) due to Merseyrail's decision to capitulate on the matter last year (or the year before). For me, driverless trains are the future. Manning needs to be reduced - staff can be relocated to other areas within the business or there may be natural redundancies or a few forced ones. But regardless of if the franchise goes back into the public sector, which I believe it should, along with all the energy providers, we cannot stand in the way of progress and use the dubious excuse of safety for doing so.

There are 5 worse teams than us: Leeds, Saints, Bournemouth, Forest and Everton. We should just about survive. -
Good player. But to take his game to the next level, he has to spend hours and hours on the training ground strengthening his right foot play. He is currently too left footed and therefore restricted and predictable, turning in on himself constantly to get it into his left peg.

Mike Hodges r.i.p screenwriter/ director of the greatest of Michael Caine's films and certainly one of the best UK films ever made, "Get Carter".

You won't be alone Supernatural chiller set in Macedonia in the 19th century. I couldn't take my eyes off it. It works on so many levels, from the basic storyline itself, to the themes running through it about community, family, loss and superstition. Directors debut too - a brilliant film.

Watched Ted K last night about the Unabomber. Very well acted throughout and probably quite a realistic portrayal of the actual events. Well worth watching.

Showing my age now but the 90s were tremendous. Nottingham (Venus) was overtaken over by Manchester (Hac). Then followed Liverpool (051 and Cream). Leeds was always good (Basics and Orbit) and for something leftfield there was Mirfield/Huddersfield (Hard Times). Clubing hat off and Manchester was always the place to go for variety. Liverpool has probably caught up with it now, lots to see and do Docks, Williamson Square, Baltic Quarter, Uni area all seem to be thriving. My siblings were both at Newcastle Uni and the big market was fun, but a bit limited, don't know if that's still the case. Advancing in years now and more than happy to potter around in York. Loads of great bars and pubs. So I guess it's all age dependent.

We're 3/1 to go down so 1/3 to stay up. To put this in perspective, Everton last season at xmas, who were really struggling (sacked Benitez) were 12s to go down. I may live to regret this but for big pocketed pro punters I d say we're currently bordering on an extemely good value bet to stay up. Over the course of the season Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth, Saints, Leeds, Palace will all struggle and should be below us in tbe betting. Current odds are an extreme over reaction. We will survive.

Fantastic, thanks for this - hadn't even seen it. Look for a small blonde lad going nuts top left middle (white jacket, blue foxes top - my lad) and me in the green jacket hugging him straight afterwards! My lad, now 14, and towers over me, just watched it and is made up!!

Sadly, I think Dodo was, who also had a screamer.

N'golo Kante made his full debut for us - Bury away. He was incredible that night. The rest, as they say, is history!

The Innocents. Norwegian film made last year. Absolutely captivating, even though you wanted to avert your eyes from some of the more harrowing scenes. A proper film. If you liked Lamb - this is on a different level.

You were very fortunate to speak to Mike Hodges. He's created a film that, save for a couple of lines that would be frowned upon now, stands the test of time. And as you say acts as a historical snapshot of times gone by. For a gangster movie It's also got that Ken Loach/Kes feel to it. My grandad was a Geordie so I have images of him being in one of those pubs and turning away sharpish/staring down at his beer when psychotic Carter gives him the eye! Agree that Budd's score is a work of art and central to the success. The same opening and closing music, accompanied by rail clack beat at the beginning and the swirling cold wind at the end, genius.

I thought I knew all of the great quotes like this one verbatim ("p*ssholes in the snow" still prob my favourite) but picked up on a new one at tonight's sitting. When in Kinnear's mansion, card scene, and the woman says to Carter, "you're a clever sod!" His deadpan response: "only relatively".

Off to watch "Get Carter" on the big screen tonight. Phenomenal film and accompanying soundtrack and really looking forward to seeing it again, probably for the 10th time. Easily, Michael Caine's best work - a classic!

Emergency was an excellent film. Smart, funny with serious messages about stereotyping, hypocrysy and institutional racism.

Tielemans strikes me as a class act, both on and off the field. I always wish our quality players well when they leave us. From Lineker, Heskey, McCallister, to Maguire, Kanté and even Mahrez. You can't begrudge it when they want to move on, and it's best just being thankful that we've witnessed their skill and the club have benefitted as a result of their presence. I wish Youri well wherever he ends up. Thanks for the memories!

Should we swallow our pride,do a "Pogba" and try to buy him back?! Would he have us?! He was great last night, raw talent and natural aggression - something Rodgers has even admitted "you can't teach". it was the first time I'd seen him play and he made a few mistakes too but at 22 in that position, still very much learning his trade.
-
Can't see him going end of season, as Tielemens is almost certainly off. Easily our most creative player. Hope he stays next season and beyond.
-
Absolutely this. Those comments were disgusting. As an Evertonian work colleague who has been gently ribbing and thanking me in equal measure today (for donating 4 points to their survival cause), what Rodgers said was "typical Kopite behaviour"!
-
In all walks of life you see folk taking credit when it's not necessarily due and blaming others for their own shortcomings. I came to the conclusion a while back that Rodgers was showing some of these traits, but it's downright blatant now. Infact, there is a dangerous lack of awareness sprinkled in there too, in that we, the fans, should be grateful that he's (singlehandedly) saved us from the drop and raised our expectations to unsustainable levels. Keep taking the deludamol Brendan! Leaders lead by example, and take responsibility for their own actions. Rodgers seems inacapable of this. He's no leader. Get rid.

What does success look like next season
Mythyaar replied to ThurmastonFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Reduce possession by 20%. Increase shots on target by 25%. Decrease goals conceded from set pieces by 80%. -
It's interesting that you say that safety first has always been Rodgers' priority. Maybe not so, when he first came in 2019. Leicester City's statistics under Brendan Rodgers compared to Claude Puel - Leicestershire Live (leicestermercury.co.uk) As the Mercury article alludes, Rodgers was happy to cede possession/ give away the ball more in the final third of the field. This was because Rodgers was encouraging creativity and as he called it more "improvisation" in the final third. Dispossessions in that season increased from 6.4 per game (under Puel) to 10.4 under Rodgers. And in terms of the comparison on possession in 2019, it actually decreased under Rodgers, to 53% compared to 54% under Puel. I would say that over time, Rodgers has become more risk averse, and probably to our detriment. Greater possession, 60% typically now but far more reticence to go for the improvisation in the final third. I'd prefer that we take more chances and be less risk averse going forward, be that with Rodgers or whoever follows him.
