You’re putting words in my mouth there mate! Where have I said that he was the sole reason we got relegated? I did say he was atrocious, is not good enough for the Premier League and was part of the reason we got relegated (alongside others I mentioned including, but not limited to: Amartey, Ward etc)
-
I watched every single game, and then most of them again. There is a long list and Luke is most definitely on that list.
-
As I say a medal for Luke and the u21s is great, but does nothing to detract from the fact that he was amongst our worst performers in being relegated surely?
-
I take it you’re being facetious with your opening question? Agreed mate, there’s a lot of dead wood. So we are agreed then that Luke is classed in this category? Unless he’s classed as one of the “one or two exceptions”?
-
Well done Luke and the u21s. Now for the Championship season….
-
I’ll try and reply to this succinctly as I’ve written a few essays today 😂 There’s a reason he’s 3rd choice left back. He is simply not good enough for where we wish to be, has had long enough to prove this and is part of the reason we were relegated. You mention how players “grow and develop over time” - he’s had 3 YEARS and is worse than when he first came into the team. Answer me this: what are his strengths? Hypothetically if his name were Lukas Tomazski and he were Eastern European we would have binned him off ages ago. The reason so many give him a wide berth is (at least in part) because he’s from Syston! I disagree that he’s been inconsistent. I think he has been consistent. Consistently poor. Along with Ward and Amartey it was embarrassing watching him try to cope at PL level on a regular basis. Wake up people; we cannot be afforded the luxury of dilly dallying when it’s clear to see Luke’s not good enough. 3 years is not a short period of time, keep playing Luke for another 3 years and let’s see where we are….

No need to apologise mate. Believe me we share a desire in wanting our academy players to do well (I’m excited to see Braybrooke and Alves post injuries!) I get what you’re saying about the fact that Luke was in and out of the side over the three years, however there is good reason for that. As I previously mentioned I just don’t see the attributes that would make Luke successful at a higher level. He’s not particularly good at tackling, not imposing physically, doesn’t score often, not great at heading etc. Please don’t question my desire as you did when you said “if you were a fan of LCFC”; that’s unfair. As I say I’m not a fan of individual players, moreover I’m a fan of LCFC which shall remain long after Thomas et al have gone. I always “get behind” the players on match days and “take pride in our young players breaking through”. One thing I agree with you I don’t do is to back ALL OF THEM to improve. Some of them, yes. But if someone’s not good enough at their job, whatever it may be, and have been given adequate time to show their worth and improve, then they’re generally asked to leave? I would be extremely happy to be proved wrong by Luke. If he does as you say he might I’ll eat humble pie and congratulate the lad, absolutely!! I may still remain reticent that he could cut it in the PL, but as I say my opinion would highly likely change if he does as you mention…
-
3 years is long enough to form an opinion surely?! I’m not here as a fan of Luke Thomas, I’m here as a fan of LCFC. Good for him if he wishes to “find himself in a new environment at a lower level”, I just wish that weren’t with us having played his part in us being relegated to the aforementioned “lower level”.

Thanks for the info mate. Sadly Luke is part of the reason we are in the championship. He was atrocious most of last season and looked like a boy amongst men. People will blame other players too but SOME of them have “money in the bank” as it were as they’ve proved themselves at that level previously. Luke has had a handful of decent games in three years. He has no particular attributes other than the fact he kicks the ball with his left foot. He gets away with so much I fear because he’s a “local lad”, and as much as I’d like him to do well there is no room for sentimentality at this level. Part of the reason that he’s treated badly by paying fans is because he’s played so poorly when called upon. To reiterate I am aware that we are in championship and I think we need better players than the next Joe Mattock to get us out of it.
-
Congrats to Luke too. No doubt he’s a “genuine Leicester player” as he’s paid (handsomely) to do so. We want to be back in the premier league. Is he good enough to play at that level. I think the last THREE SEASONS have proved sadly not.
-
Anyone know Middlesbrough fans opinion of this guy?
-
Agree wholeheartedly. When you look at who’s come through the academy recently (Barnes, Choudury, Thomas, KDH). They are all HORRIFIC with the ball at their feet and are paid inflated wages in spite of this. Hoping Braybrooke and Alves will be better than the aforementioned with the ball at their feet…..
-
Remember a few years ago Maddison saying that Winks was one of the players he admired
-
I think it’s the fact that he’s not got any particularly strong attributes mate. He’s not strong. He’s not overly quick. He’s not great at shooting, tackling, heading. The list goes on…. Luke may find his level at the Championship or below in time, but he’s shown since he came into 2-3 years ago that he’s not good enough consistently at Prem level. It’s a shame as he’s a local lad but life often isn’t about sentimentality…..

Iversen Castagne Faes Cags Kristiansen Ndidi Tielemans. Soumare Maddison. Barnes Vardy
-
Dear LCFC players, Please don’t concede first in this game, else I fear we will then succumb to Dyche S**thousery. Warm regards.
-
Anyone else notice they appeared to put kenny Tetes picture instead of his at the beginning of the match on MOTD? Or were my eyes deceiving me?
-
Agreed mate. Choudhury and Thomas both need selling too. Between them they’ve got away with so much over the years because they’re ‘homegrown’
-
Unfortunately the losses of Barnes and Ricardo negate our ability to travel with the ball and move up the pitch. The same can also be said with JJ out. I think the only way to stretch the play would be with Daka Nacho up top with Maddison behind. VK and Castagne will have to get through a lot of work offensively and defensively. Iversen Castagne Souttar Cags VK Mendy Tielemans Praet Maddison Nacho. Daka Saddens me that we’ve so rapidly gone from a spine of Schmeichel, Evans, prime wilf, Vardy to this, but anyhow.
-
Ready to lose our voices for the cause on Saturday. Bring back Birch, bring back the clappers and please, if we go a goal down, continue to back the lads!
-
Iversen Castagne Souttar Cags VK Mendy Tielemans. Praet Maddison Iheanacho. Barnes
-
Anyone else wonder how unsettling (with long flights, extremely different time zones etc) it is for Souttar to play for Oz?
-
Agree with you @Whys it always me, this is untrue.
-
Glad you’re keeping well. Hoping, as I’m sure you are, for a better result on Saturday? Wholeheartedly agree with your assessment, the team didn’t play well and not many came up with the Goodes last night. Thought Kel was effective and Kristiansen showed a little fight and was half decent when he came on (not winding up here) and I was impressed with Blackburn tbh, were you mate? For what it’s worth I’m not a bollocks chatter: as I say I know for a fact he’s lazy outside of football. Not sure how I can prove this to you. As I say you seem to know Luke and appear to disagree, which I’m not calling you out on. There are others above who have mentioned lifestyle out of football too. The thing that grinds is that Luke is paid handsomely to do a job that, if he wants to do it well, he needs to live a lifestyle out of 90mins each week conducive to being a better footballer. He hasn’t done that for the last 3 years and has regressed to a level way way below a PL footballer. Would you disagree mate? I, as sounds similar to yourself, have been home and away for nearly 35 years mate. I’ve been there way before Luke and will be there way after he’s left.
