  1. ...I think this is the best part of his game!!! He pulled those shots off at his other club and I am not sure why he is lifting these shots high and handsome. When he runs out of ideas he does silly things just to get rid of the ball. Totally at a loss, if it is composure, his boots or this is a big step up for him, but he looks nowhere near what I believe he would be. I am surprised that Maresca has allowed him to get away with his poor decision making. He needs to work with him more.
  2. ...he had half a season with Reading and they were relegated!!! It seems he makes little difference to the team when he plays.
  3. ...the question is why did he not keep Yunus on and take off Casadei!!! He ( Maresca) believes Praet is the ideal person for the #8 role, so I suspect we will have to wait until he is up to speed before we see that happening. I think Akgun sees the game as a #10, we need invention in the last third. Oscar Bobb is sitting on the Manchester City bench getting the odd minutes here and there, I am not sure he would not benefit from half a season in the next tier, controlling a central midfield in a team pushing for promotion and crying out for his skills.
  4. ...that Liverpool result did not help and it laid the foundation for how to approach games against us!!! These teams do not have the quality of Liverpool, but the way they go about pressing us gives them the same results. For a team that practices playing a passing game, it is strange how we lose our composure and look second-rate when the opposition squeezes us, hooking and slicing balls all over the place, no one looking to get hold of the ball and transitioning the play themselves. We have seen a situation where the opposition are on top of us and out of position and the ball is with our goalkeeper, yet no one charges up the field for the quick ball while the opposition hasn't 10 men back, waiting for us to try and break them down. I really believe the quickest way to solve our problem is to get or use a right-sided #8 who can create, everything else is in place, that is where Maresca's plans fall down.
  5. ...it would not surprise me if Casadei goes back in the January window!!! We need a better #8 to play alongside KDH, we need someone inventive in that position, it might take a bit of the pressure off the wingers.
  6. ...playing off his right foot does not help and he is a player who enjoys bursting forward!!! He is playing as a centre-half mostly and as a right-footed player he will be taking the ball playing on the half turn, ball retention means playing the ball back towards the keeper. If you are left-footed you can play down the line or a disguised switchball to the right wing, you are always looking forward and it is more difficult to turn to play backwards. Doyle not being with us does hold us back.
  7. ...it was a strange substitution as Ricardo was not injured and it was so late in the game!!! We are looking for what we did not have last season and that was a leader on the pitch who could galvanise the players, and wake them up. We, on two occasions, should have conceded in the first 10 minutes and we did not seem to learn from those moments. We always seem to have a loose moment that would let them in, I have my doubts about Coady.
  8. ...we get pressed and can't handle it, all teams are going to pressure our backline because we have a few mistakes in us every game!!! Couple that with being poor in the final third and they (the opposition) are gambling that it is worth the risk to press us, than the likelihood of us scoring. Taking off Akgun seemed a bad decision at the time, he has the football brain to get through teams such as these and with KDH coming on with his drive, we would have been much better going forward. Mavididi and Fatawu are just not clever enough, you just know that there is little improvement that will be forthcoming. Has McAteer had his instincts coached out of him?
  9. ...are there any ratings in the National League South!!!
  10. ...I was there at the same time as you mate...my dog is still running!!!
  11. ...I am not sure that is what he is saying!!! It sounds as if Cannon is very eager to get game time, but Maresca is unwilling to throw him in right now, not due to any shortfall in Cannon's application. If you look at Manchester City, Mahrez was used sparingly when he turned up and Grealish was not seeing much pitch time in his first season. Indoctrinating players into the style of play seems to be the way, but Cannon's natural instincts could be eroded if they are looking to change the way he plays.
  12. ...I think what he means is, deriving pleasure from someone else's pain!!!
  13. ...we would certainly get more supporters coming down, mostly without the missus!!!
  14. ...I would like to think that if we converted the chances in the first half, it would be difficult for the players not to want to up the tempo and attempt to smash a team!!! Maresca would have to be on the sideline telling players to calm down. We just do not get ourselves in these positions to see this play out.
  15. ...Maresca does tend to make players informal when he references them!!! Nacho is always "Kel" so "Pato" is very much the norm in regards to his players.
  16. ...surely Spurs benefited in that situation, it would have been Liverpool putting in the challenge in that instance!!! Whatever the incident was, VAR would be looking at it in less than a minute of it occurring. We take playback with any break in play at the moment. If you think the wait is long, just wait till you watch the Belgian League, it takes forever to get confirmation, the players just stand around having a conversation with the ref and by the looks of things, it is not about football.
  17. ...it is a risk that you take with implementing a challenge!!! If you believe so badly that there was an injustice then you put in a "challenge." You may be found to have been wrong and the referee was proven to be right, it would mean you only have one "challenge" left so you need to use it wisely. If on the other hand, you win your "challenge" you therefore have the 2 lives still in play. The argument that referees are still human and susceptible to being influenced by certain managers, we no doubt will still have the same problem.
  18. ...we knew what we were signing, just that the role he was asked to play did not play to his strengths!!!
  19. ...Owynn would not let up regarding the Rodgers treatment last few seasons, and he (Jannik) diplomatically stated that he was not going to go there!!! Journalists come in with a list of questions and continue to plough through them, even if the interviewee has answered them whilst answering his previous question. I must admit I was shouting for Owynn to move on but the next question related to the same subject, Jannik also dealt with that expertly. The next question did not go much further away from the original topic he said he did not wish to comment on. it was something of a relief to me and no doubt Jannik, when he (Owynn) finally moved on to something else. You really need to listen more Owynn. He has previously stated things in interviews, he wanted to move on.
  20. ...Petermann as well, this is the second time that I have seen her have an airshot at the edge of the box, and it was harder not to make contact with the ball!!! Rantala does give us the expertise we so lack, with the runs that she makes and taking her chances. Petermann with all her experience should be showing better composure in those areas, the team needs to see another not panicking when in good positions.
  21. ...what I was envisaging was the Wingers stay out wide and hold their position as Maresca wants. but, depending on what side the ball is, if a winger is moving into the half-space where he is in full flow, his movement has triggered the pass!!! We definitely can play this style better, we just do not have the talent to execute as Maresca would like to. He, Maresca is not going to change the way we play, not anytime soon.
  22. ...it is the interpretation of the system that stalls their contributions, not that they are pulled so wide!!! If we had #8s who were more creative then the wingers should be moving into that half space as soon as the #8 is in possession. This team should be working on "third-man-running" principles, reading and anticipation are missing from this team. We buy better if we go up, or we coach these players to be better.
  23. ...I see what to mean regarding adhering to Maresca's way of playing!!! It is not about take ons out wide or 1 v 1 from the winger. Fatawu may get you off your seat and hold the attention of a defender but he is not producing. If Albrighton is drafted in, firstly he cements the right side because he is not been pushed too high and him cutting in allows the #8 to go wide, but that doesn't mean the #8 needs to be adept at 1 v 1s, it is more or less support to the attack. Albrighton releasing Vardy with quick ball, puts the opposition defence on the back foot, and we would be mixing our approach within the game. Give the opposition something to think about. Saying all this, I cannot see Vardy playing on Wednesday, Nacho not covered himself in glory and funny I think Maresca likes him, so I see Cannon as the starter, he will be a refreshing change and a match winner for us, definitely.
  24. ...he has a habit when he runs out of ideas to shoot from silly distances and angles!!! He has it in his armoury, just seems to not know when to use it and that is a worry. I posted the first time I saw Mahrez, all he was doing in the interval was trying to bend the ball into the far post from just inside our outside the box. Over and over and I did not see him score once (no keeper in goal, he was on his own). The thing is, that is his (Fatawu) biggest strength, shooting across the keeper, he has hit the post twice, but it is not as if he had committed to the technique, just speculative pots at goal, not looking to bring the ball back inside the far post. You have to ask yourself, why he isn't doing this, he is no shrinking violet.
