I honestly think something needs introducing with regards to elite clubs poaching young talent. Even if it was something like 10% sell on clause for any lads signed from teams who aren’t at the age of tribunal and then 20% sell on for all youth signings that go to tribunal. The issue is the FA would never implement such thing as they want the young English talent at elite academy set ups as it furthers the likelihood of elite talent for the national team.

Like others have said Aluko and Joseph as right backs, Thomas and Coulibaly as left backs. Regarding who starts it depends on who we are playing. If we’ve got a team playing a deep low block then play Aluko and Coulibaly, if we are playing a team with tricky wingers go for the stronger defensively in Joseph and Thomas. I actually think in both full back positions we have a good mix of profiles.

After Martin’s comments about different profiles for each role and on the assumption there’s no money to spend I would be looking at the following Right wing - Tudor Mendel-Idowu (Loan) - Different to Alves who prefers to play more inverted, Mendel-Idowu prefers to stay out wide and take his man on every opportunity he gets. Striker - Ross Stewart (Free agent) - Gives you a completely different option more of a target man and someone you can play crosses into should playing through an opposition not be working. Striker - Shumaira Mhueka (Loan) - Great option as a deep lying forward. Very comfortable linking up play, serious pace about him and he has a serious eye for goal. Left wing - Ben Broggio (Loan) - Very similar profile to Alves, prefers to play more inverted as a left sided attacking midfielder. Completely different profile to Mavididi. I found this the hardest position to find based of profile and money available.

It’s a good deal all around. Monga got the exposure to mens football for a few years, we get an actual decent fee for him in comparison to Tribunal, Man City get a huge talent and hopefully we benefit further down the line with a nice sell on clause. Personally, think it’s a great deal for all involved.

Very, very impressed with yesterday’s game and the pre-season as a whole. So far I think it’s clear to me RM has heard the critics regarding his centre backs keeping the ball for the sake of keep back (self admitted on BBC Leicester interview). The amount of combinations of play where the lads are playing a maximum of 1-2 touch football is unreal. If we can keep that going regardless of level you’ll fair well and it’s the biggest problem in English football with lads taking unnecessary touches in comparison to let’s say the Spanish. From an individual stand point: McCarthy - I actually thought his ball playing ability and urgency to get moves started quickly were impressive last night. Stolarczyk - I think at times he gets some stick for the sake of it. Made some great saves yesterday and looked comfortable on the ball. JJ - Earnt his spot in the squad this season, growing in confidence and offers a different style to Aluko. Coulibaly - Biggest compliment I can give him is the fact I felt a new left back was needed, now I think between him and Thomas you’ve got a nice blend of different options. Braybrooke - Keeping Chaplin out of the team for me currently, his weight of pass, creativity and confidence ooze class. Page - Was disappointed at first in pre-season but his confidence is growing. Not as creative as Braybrooke but his ability to drive the ball up the pitch at his age is very impressive. Neale - Earlier in his development but very similar profile to Braybrooke. Very impressed. Hamza - Again gets a lot of stick, but I personally felt he set the tempo of the press and aggressiveness that second half which was needed. Mavididi - Appeared to be growing his desire to take his man on and be direct again, he isn’t passing back for the sake of passing back. I hope he’s buying in and not trying to put himself in the shop window. Alves - Based of pre-season double digit goals are a realistic expectation from him. I’m personally starting to like RM, couldn’t stand him or the appointment but impressed with the performances and the way he’s handled himself so far. I will say based on the post match interview, I think it’s clicked to him how impressive this academy group is. He's somewhat downplaying how many of them will be involved this year I feel to keep them hungry and pushing for an opportunity. But the expression on his face tells you what you need to know.

Ultimately, the news being leaked that the club is up for sale is most likely a ploy to increase interest. Should a club be doing that, it probably tells you about the current interest after initial talks.

This is more my point, he was on a championship wage anyway when we signed him playing for a poor championship team. Include the relegation clause in that I would be surprised if he’s on more than £25k a week. Dont get me wrong it’s still a lot for this level but it’s not shattering amounts.

I’m glad they’re holding out for Souttar. He’s one of the players that’s likely on the lesser of the big wages we had. Stick to the selling fee and if no one meets it, he will be one of our most valuable players this season.

I think you would care if you seen how bleak the finances are if we don’t get promoted this year. Can it get worse?

I think it’s deeper than that. Ultimately we’re owned by King Power whose existence is looking increasingly concerning by the year. Top’s number one priority is King Power, we are the toy on the side that has a huge emotional attachment. Top is not a billionaire in liquid cash, he’s a billionaire through estate and assets. With King Power’s performance struggling as much as it is, Top’s billionaire status is also impacted. The last thing King Power can afford to do right now is pump money into a toy when there empire is falling down in front of them nor is the money there to do so. Remember Top’s comment of “I will try” when questioned about if he will put money into the club following relegation? Surely if the funds were readily available in his bank account that would have been a clear and direct yes. That told us what we needed to know on the current cash availability. Clearing debt to equity always sounds “kind” in essence, however, anyone with any sort of business knowledge knows this is usually done in an attempt to make an asset more attractive to invest into. I stated on here around a year or two ago that we was listening to offers in 2023, this came from someone very well involved with some of the higher ups from the club. Conversations were serious I am led to believe, however, when we started walking the league and promotion appeared inevitable Top moved the goal posts and started valuing us as a premier league club without the status which broke down all conversations. Yet another awful piece of negotiating by the club with greed ruining all negotiations. That’s what worries me with any potential sale, hopefully, desperation is that apparent that the goal posts can no longer be moved.

Exactly my thought of thinking. When I touched on Braybrooke, when posting the list of holding midfielders, I stated I’m curious to see if he’s viewed as an 8 or as a 6 due to the one thing that stood out was Braybrooke’s creativity numbers which would be no way near as effective in a deeper role.

Demand is key. If we were let’s say to expand all 4 stands at the same time, to have a capacity around 55,000 we would have almost half of that empty which takes eyes away from an event. Growing slowly creates demand, 8000 expansion is a very good start to that. Also, to add an 8000 expansion would sit us as the 16th biggest football stadium in the entire UK and be slightly bigger than Stanford bridge. No slouch.

I think that’s the attraction of Leicester for many investors personally. Planning permission has already been approved for a stadium expansion. With regards to Seagrave, stage of the art training facilitates seem to be a given with US and Saudi investors now days. If you can get Seagrave for £50-£75m, you’ve automatically saved anywhere from £50-£100m having to invest in a facility yourself. Being a one club city is a big draw for investors too.
