I think this year will tell a lot from a financial perspective both with the football club and Top’s personal wealth, plus it’ll show his desire to at least attempt to fix this mess.
-
Yeah I could see it, I would say his overall value has decreased since we signed him.
-
After all likely departures and the free agents that have now left I honestly think we are going to need around 10 players this summer. Centre back - I would want us to get Alex Mitchell from Charlton, played at Plymouth last year and would put his head through a brick wall. Pair him with Souttar. £1.5m should get it done. Left back - Max Lowe would be the preferred option on a free. Should he stay in the championship, Steve Seddon from AFC Wimbledon is a good shout, slightly older but got a wand of a left foot contributing to 9 goal contributions this year and out of contract. 2x centre mids - I know there has been discussion about Archie Collins from Peterborough but my preferred options would be Malachi Boateng from Plymouth and Owen Bailey from Doncaster. Both players had a combined 30 goal contributions last year but they’re defensive contributions also stand out. £5m for the pair should get it done. Attacking Midfielder - Bobby Pointon from Bradford city is a lad I like. Only 22 years old, he has a natural eye for goal. More of an goal scoring midfielder than a creative one but someone who I think would score 15+ in a side that’s expected to dominate and have plenty of chances in front of goal. £2m to get him signed. Right Winger - Amario Cozier-Duberry from Bolton. Getting him on loan might be difficult after performing so well in league 1, he would be one of my top targets that I would go all out for to sign. £4/5m might get him on a permanent deal. 2x Left Winger - Reyes Cleary from Barnsley. Linked with him in the past, hammer of a right foot but his creative stats impress me the most. Barnsley turned down bids of £2.5m last year, £3m should get it done. Louie Barry on loan would be my second winger, not blown any trees recently but offers versatility to play on both sides. 2x Strikers - Lorent Tolaj from Plymouth. He just feels like a natural goal scorer but similar to Cleary his assist contributions just show he’s an overall package up front. Him leading the line in that front 3 I think would be successful in the championship let alone league 1. Ross Stewart on a free would be my second striker, offers something different and could cause problems at this level. £3m similar deal Richard Kone went for last year. The majority are young hungry players who would dramatically bring the wage bill down, would leave you a squad of: GK - Stolarczyk, Begovic, Bausor RB - Hamza, Aluko, Joseph CB - Soutts, Vesty, Mitchell, Wilson-Brown, Gray LB - Lowe, Thomas, Joseph CM - Boateng, Bailey, Skipp, Braybrooke, Page CAM - Pointon, Alves, Page RW - Cozier-Duberry, Barry, Thomas ST - Tolaj, Stewart, Opoku LW - Cleary, Barry, Alves

Plymouth had 3 players last year that I would love us to sign. Lorent Tolaj, Malachi Boateng and Alex Mitchell.
-
Not sure what category he would fall under, but Carsley would be my preferred option.
-
£2.5m on the books, no idea what his value would be.
-
Well considering Fatawu still has £9m on the books I can assure you we will get more than £10m. £15m will be the starting point and at the price he will have many suitors and potentially a bidding war. So no sir, far from “mental”.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Top see’s league 1 as an opportunity to rebuild for the championship with the lesser financial restrictions. Rightly or wrongly I wouldn’t be shocked to see them throw money at it.
-
Tony Mowbray is a very underrated manager in my opinion.
-
I’d actually be happy with this. I think he’s got a bit of an unfair gig in his managerial career. Did a very good job at Man U and got respect from a room full of massive ego’s. Plays nice attacking football too.
-
Their squad at the time was one of the youngest if not the youngest in the entire league. They were struggling to see out games with the lack of experience therefore he set out to buy experience to help out that issue for the upcoming season. Smart decision really and demonstrates the ability to see what’s missing, something this clubs lacked. The fact he refused to go over 30 when looking for experience I actually took as a positive.

Very interesting. So unless I’ve misunderstood clubs could just offer bigger signing on fee’s to reduce the weekly wages and be completely fine? If true Top could seriously show where we / he is at financially as there’s an opportunity to inject a large sum of funds here and might make sense why we are being linked with someone like Dick Schreuder.
-
If the right figure comes in then sell, if not build the defence around him.
-
Are there any rumours of Chris Davies leaving Birmingham or are we just assuming they’ll want a higher profile name?
-
He’s got good relationships within the club wouldn’t say never.
-
Skubala appeared to have some smoke prior to the Rowett appointment. Local lad and regardless of the league difference now, we are an obvious upgrade.
-
Just seen NEC’s remaining fixtures they are very favourable for them so would be hard to not see them getting European football, which there is no chance we get him if so.
-
With regards to style of play I honestly believe this is what we should be targeting in league 1 and the championship.
-
So he is, I wonder why it’s showing some places as out of contract? Would definitely target him as a loan signing though if Wolves don’t plan on keeping him around.
-
I also remember the dark days of him calling the Ayew signing way before anyone was on it.
-
- Ross Stewart (free transfer) - Chido Obi-Martin (Loan) - Dominic Ballard - Lorent Tolaj - Charlie Kolman - Will Lankshear
-
Some interesting upcoming championship free agents: CB - Ben Wilmot, A leader who’s good on the ball with much experience. LB - Max Lowe, just an upgrade to Thomas. Linked with him in the summer and solid going forward also. LB - Jamal Lewis, again an upgrade to Thomas. Struggled with injuries but could be a problem as an attacking left back. LB - Aaron Cresswell, experienced pro with vital leadership. Older player but still performing and a deadly set piece. Short term deal. CDM - Jairo Riedewald, not a consistent starter currently but a true holding midfielder comfortable on the ball. CDM - Tommy Doyle, he’s a leader, good on the ball and scrappy. Would be a good addition. CDM - Andre Dozzell, Very good on the ball, has the ability to dictate play. ST - Josh Maja, been poor as of late but we’ve had interest in the past. ST - Ross Stewart, we’ve been crying out for a different option up front. His presence and technical ability would cause problems in L1. Scored 24 in 46 games last time he played in league 1. ST - Lyndon Dykes, similar to Stewart gives you a different option up front. Goal return might improve in league 1. ST - Danny Ings, short term fix but just a goal scorer. I would be interested in adding 3-4 older free agents with leadership like Lascelles, Cresswell, Doyle (not old) in what I imagine is going to be a very young squad for us.
-
Frontline is going to need multiple additions this summer. 3 potential targets I would want are RW - Amari Cozier-Duberry (Loan) ST - Chido Obi-Martin (Loan) LW - Reyes Clearly (£3m)
-
I think you could get around £23m for him this summer. Personally, I would rather take around 20m if they can get a sell on clause of at least 15% for him.
-
I think the one thing that could put some big teams off buying him is his off the ball work rate. Hes clearly immensely talented but there’s such an emphasis on the hard yards off the ball that some might be slightly put off. I am intrigued to see what fee he will command, I think we are talking anywhere between £5m - £10m. 25% sell on clause needs to be included irrespective of the fee.
