  1. Being a traveller is not a bloody race. Jesus.
  2. Who mentioned any race ? Are you actually looking for something to be offended by ? Only person who mentioned racism was you !!
  3. In for a penny, in for a pound I guess. Is there a N.I. aspect to this ?
  4. Is this near the travellers site ???????
  5. Looks like the caravans on proctors park are about to become floating homes again.
  6. We took a 5 y.o. & 7 y.o. to Perth and back, 17 hrs each way non stop. Absolutely fine. Its the adults who think a plane is a gym in the sky who are the problem.
  7. https://www.smh.com.au/national/people-aren-t-stupid-bushfire-crisis-scorches-australia-s-image-20200103-p53oke.html This is obviously a more detailed indication of the long term damage I was trying to get at.
  8. Thanks Oz, some clarity on the guy is appreciated.
  9. I did just think to myself, why they don't just pay the volunteers a wage when required. However, should a few volunteers get short for cash during a quiet bushfire season, maybe they start a little fire or two ?? Bit sinister, I know.
  10. Pretty much agree with what you've said regards Morrison. However, the fires on this scale are rare. It's hard to filter between the anti Morrison media and the actual impact on people's lives and livelihoods. Much of which is being used to score points. Obviously the Aussies will put us all right when the wake up.
  11. I don't think selling water to China whilst being in a 3 year drought is a smart move either.
  12. Thanks, I'm sure I won't encounter any fires in June, but that wasn't really my point. 'the fires in oz' until today has been headlines for a week here. This has led to friends and family asking weather we are still going or not. Fortunately having been to Oz a few times and having plenty of family and friends there I'm more clued up on the situation than the average tourist & backpacker. I see a dip in tourism coming due to the media in other countries playing this up big time. If your planning a gap year next year, questions will be asked. Also whilst I appreciate regrowth is quick due to the natural aspects of bushfires, a lot of people will be watching the news and thinking what's the point in going to the national parks to see burnt trees.
  13. We're going to Noosa heads & gold coast may/June undeterred . It would be good to have some national parks to still visit, however I'm hoping that the fires and bad international press doesn't damage the traveling & tourism industry too much. The reliance on those industries is huge in some towns.
  14. Blimey, that's quite a damning statistic.
  15. That's the one. Just for the record I'm no BMW fan boy. So many 'drivers' don't indicate on the roads, whilst driving a variety of cars with different badges on them. But people only notice the BMW's. I think there's a bit of confirmation bias going on & I genuinely don't understand why?
  16. I never understood the bitching about BMW drivers. Had a beemer for 9 months now & still don't see what the beef is about.
  17. I'm sure my legs still are still sore from doing 2 years in there every Friday. 95-97.
  18. It's on ! Like donkey Kong !
  19. And some. The world is changing and has been for the last 2k years since the ability to travel overseas. In the future we'll all just be a different shade of skin. I don't like this but it's inevitable, We're progressing as race beyond the speed at which we can comprehend. That brings out our bad side. The world has changed in the last 40 years beyond recognition.
  20. All joking aside. They will.
  21. There is no point to life, it's meaningless. Doesn't mean we can't enjoy it, it just means we shouldn't waste our time searching for the point in our existence. Because there isn't one. I have a concerning & bleak view on the existence of humanity unfortunately, and I haven't heard any good counter arguments to make me think otherwise. I believe the human race is a cancer on the face of the earth.
  22. Spent a good two years in diehard every other week. Surprised it stayed open as long as it did, not a place to get the beers in.
  23. I rarely post here but read this and thought I'd chip in. We flew to Perth last April for a three week jolly with the kids, originally to have a look at possible relocation but things changed between booking and flights, so it became a holiday only. We also flew direct from Heathrow, worth it if you can. Ten days in the region is long enough to get in all the sights & depending on your budget I would recommend getting a car. Everywhere is literally half a hour away. We did a lot of things that were family friendly and as a solo traveller may not float your boat, we spent three days in the same water park for example. Rottnest Island is something you should really look into, the place is absolutely beautiful and a nice ride around, I saw some scuba divers there, so could be worth checking out. Freemantle is a good day out too, it's got a cool af market & plenty of places to eat & drink, some with ocean views. There's a speed boat in freeo that takes you out into the shark infested water and chucks you around for a bit if that's what you into. Actually you could probably get two days out of freemantle with the museum's as well. If you looking for a bit of wildlife check out caversham wildlife park instead of the city zoo. It's cheaper and much larger. The city in my opinion, bar kings park, is the same as any city in the world. We did a tour bus trip that takes you round the city and through kings park, where you get off and pick it up later on. This I would recommend. The park is immense. Do you like wine & chocolate ? There's plenty of wine farm tours that will keep you happy and again depending on you budget you could go up river. The thing that struck me about Perth is the beaches. North and South of the city the beaches are another level. There's a foot/bike path that goes north of the city up to burns beach. If your able to get a bike that would be a fantastic ride.
