I actually think that’s the best footballing performance from us this season. When we got it right, we cut through them with ease today. If we could finish then I don’t think many people could argue that we deserved to win. Played some great football at times, we are so much better with Winks in the team. You get the sense of levels at the end of the game when the cov fans were celebrating like they’d scored a last minute winner, when truth be told they were probably just about lucky enough to earn their point. We are still very much a work in progress but the more we play you can see the philosophy and how easily we could be absolutely devastating going forward. Mavididi desperately needs an assist or a goal, for me at the minute he’s the player we’ve got I thought we had signed. Inconsistent and frustrating. Also think any chance they had generally came from a counter or us causing ourselves the problem. Never opened us up once, only one team out there today that wanted to go out and win. If I’m taking any consolation from not winning, it’s that we didn’t lose.

Probably. But with how our finances are/were with the greater need for reinforcements in other positions, getting a new left back would just be crazy. When really it’s a position we are loaded at, when you consider we had JJ who could play there before he left, Thomas, Kristiansen, Aluko along with Ricardo and Choudhury who have both played there before too. I’m not saying that Thomas is the next Roberto Carlos here but he’s capable at this level and there’s absolutely no guarantee we will be out of this division next season either.

And going on what they’d produced at that level, how were we to say anything otherwise. You only need to look in the threads of both when they signed to see that this was the general consensus. What more do you expect? Sign someone with a crazy transfer fee on double the wages Thomas will be on when we aren’t in the position to do so, in a position that wasn’t necessarily a problem because being fine at the level we find ourselves in isn’t ok? That he knows what it means to play for the club? Someone that cares, wants to be here, knows what the expectation of the blood of the club (the fans) is. Much rather than the recent bunch of mercenaries we’ve had here that are just happy to pick up a wage and “act” professional.
