I think that early season spell under Maresca has blinded so many people. Even then I wasn’t overly convinced with him…. Needs to either improve really quick and offer a bit more end product rather than being too predictable. He’s such a great lad as well, certainly one of the more likeable ones in the squad and I don’t think his work rate and commitment could ever be questioned. But we can’t afford to be carrying passengers.

Madness innit. Especially when you consider and have seen over the last two games what we would be like without Winks.

Monga and Nelson the only two that looked decent really. McAteer was absolutely shocking. Literally didn’t do a single thing well or even right. We looked better (again) when Winks came on but let’s be honest we should’ve been comfortably through. Every penalty bar Thomas’ was absolutely woeful. On the flip side, it’s a competition we weren’t gonna win and it’s stopped us making a pointless trip up to Sunderland but nonetheless it’s still annoying when we lose. I’m sure most of you will be delighted we have lost because it will give you something to have a moan about. Onto Saturday.

This referee is a proper little dweeb, defo one of the more dislikeable ones from the champ.

He gets in some really good positions in all fairness to him. Which makes it more frustrating.

McAteer’s end product and decision making is so poor.
