Needs to stay as long as it takes him to overtake that pillock Owen Although the way Vardy is going that could be this season / early next season

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5962455/2024/12/03/inside-the-deal-why-leicester-wanted-ruud-van-nistelrooy/?source=emp_shared_article Details of his backroom team are yet to be revealed, but he is expected to bring in a smaller staff than previous Leicester managers and is said to be a hands-on coach. His experience in developing emerging talents is one of the qualities Leicester admire most. He has a reputation for becoming popular with players as he works closely with them to help them improve. For example, he spent hours working with Fabio Silva, the Wolverhampton Wanderers player who was on loan at PSV in 2023. -

What a shite loan -
RVN Pre-Match Press Conference vs Man Utd What convinced you? “When the approach was first there, you think about the club, the set-up, the players. You want to know about the people who work there and Enzo knew, what better information to get. We spoke after Chelsea and he was really positive. He was absolutely right according to the first impressions I get.” Proud? “A lot. To be managing this club and this group of players and representing Leicester City, I’m proud. The conversations I had, twice I flew out to London to speak to the owner, it was important to get on the same page. We are excited to start working together.” United? “It was a good period, short and intense. I was happy to help steady the ship. They’re now on a run of good results. I enjoyed being responsible and getting a connection with the team. That felt great to do. I’m now in a position to do it again.” Vardy record? “It’s a problem of course that he broke my record! That’s what I told him straight away. That was the first thing I said to him. I beat him commenting on it. I wished him well at the time. It’s weird how things go sometimes.” United put you in limelight? “What happened after the games, the amount of interest that was there for me, I was astonished. It was only four games. I had managed a full season at PSV and won the cup. I’ve been in coaching for a while. It had never got this reaction from the football world. It provoked this reaction and I was happy with that. I had conversations with different parties and made a decision that was right for me.” Training ground? “It’s amazing. Everybody tells you how great the facilities are. It’s hard to believe. I met Ancelotti in Madrid last year, but if you changed the logos, it’s similar. It’s an opportunity for the players and young players to get better.” Vardy? “It’s somebody who has had a career for a long time. He’s been fit all along. He’s helped every team he’s played for at Leicester. He’s still producing. It’s a great striker and it’s great to have him in the squad.” Pick players up? “That is what needed to be done. Sunday was the first time that I was here. Was it yesterday? It feels longer. I met the players and staff and everybody who is here. I had a meeting with the players and it was the first thing to address. The situation we’re in, the challenge we face and what’s necessary to get out. The results in recent weeks, it’s about reacting. We need clarity in how we’re going to do things. With two days it’s difficult to make too many changes, but we have started to make changes on how we want things.” Obsession with defensive structure? “It manifests in meetings, in drills on the training pitch. Yesterday and today it has been a topic of discussion. How can the back four play together with the sixes in front, who’s running, who’s following who, body positions, etc. There’s a lot of detail in there. Today was the first time we had the whole group together.” January transfers? “That was a topic of discussion. The two conversations were very open and clear. It’s important to know how things are in the near future and the further future. January was discussed. The current squad was discussed. I have to have a good assessment over the coming weeks ahead of January, giving every player a chance. I’m working with people at the club but I’m looking to bring in other people.” Message from owner? “The expectations are clear. They are not easy. It’s to maintain in the Premier League. It’s the big target.” Plan? “Structures off the ball it’s a 4-4-2, we look to give pressure on the opponent in different formations. But the basic structure 4-4-2. There was a three-box-three that I used at United and that was developed by Enzo here. I saw that as an advantage coming here. It saves me a bit of work!” Approach? “I’m thinking of one thing and that’s winning every game. When you play top teams or mid-table teams or lower-ranked teams, it sometimes requires a different approach. The style of play adjusts depending on how we win. I’m not a romantic manager who puts style ahead of a result. We’re not the dominant side in this league.” Injuries? “Caleb was part of team training and looked good. We’ll wait on his reaction. All being well, he will be in the squad. Harry is doing individual work. It’s not a long term injury and hopefully we can welcome him soon.”

Right back / right wing back - and he is doing very well for them so far
-
Had a look at some players whose contracts are up in 2025, so maybe their clubs would consider cashing in: RB - Ridle Baku (26) - Wolfsburg - very versatile player who could also play right mid/right wing and centre mid - could be a very suitable option for an inverted full back CB - Olivier Boscagli (27) - PSV - left footed centre back who was at PSV at the same time as Ruud, although was injured for most of the season he did play a few games under him LB - Sergio Reguilon (27) - Spurs - was very good on loan at Brentford last season and definitely not wanted at Spurs, quite attacking as well so could be suitable if Ruud goes with his PSV tactics of the left back pushing high
