I’ve been doing the sums on Ward and it is simply baffling to the point of negligence. We paid £12.5m and he’s been at the club for 7 seasons. If he’s been on £40k for that length of time, which may be a reasonable estimate (?), he’s earned £14.5m. That’s a total outlay of £27m. He’s made 29 appearances over 7 seasons, and we’re getting close to a financial outlay of £1m per game. It has to be pound for pound one of the worst pieces of business in the history of football.

My favourite moment was when in a state of delusion I thought he could ‘do a job’ and should be given a chance when Kasper left, mostly based on appearances against lower league teams in the cup and games for Wales against mostly inferior teams.

The thing I don’t get is that tourist and day tripper types, that PL clubs are increasingly geared towards, will surely dislike tippy tappy robotic football.

I actually think we are better at this than many on here give us credit for. Take the Ipswich game, I think we ended the game with 4 academy lads on the pitch, and McAteer I think had been subbed so it could have been 5. I’m not going to list those no longer here who’ve been sold for big money. But I agree with your sentiment. Otherwise what was the point of Seagrave, if it wasn’t to develop elite talent which it now is.

I think this is a good point. Any revolution needs leadership, and I mean a small number of committed, vocal and influential individuals who can bring together enough voices in the fan base. Genuine question, but who or what section of the fan base kick starts a proper protest?

Starting a game is a big deal for a 15-16 year old. It’s one thing coming on and looking strong for 20 mins, it’s quite another starting. While I’d like to see the academy lads on the bench get minutes, I think RvN is best placed to decide if these kids should start. I’d lay off him - they’re having good minutes the last few months and not sure we should expect them to get much more. They need to eased in, not thrown in to the deep end particularly with what’s going on.
