Sensible, to replace Wilf would eat into our budget and if holding on to him means we can get a bit more attacking flair in then I’m all for it
-
He’s a good striker, has all the attributes you’d be looking for in a modern attacker. But he too old for a club like us to pay that kind of money for. Not worth the risk and will have no re-sale value, and in a footballing climate where your balance sheet is almost as important as your squad then I’d be disappointed if we were genuinely in for him. If he’d have done what he did last season but 5 years younger than it’s a different story

Exactly how I see the situation i think a lot of people, and me included especially initially, get confused about the accounting period points deductions handed out to the likes of Everton and Forest relate to. People cite Everton getting two last season, but that was because the premier league didn’t act fast enough to comply with their own rules.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'

Can I ask a question I really should know the answer on already? The PSR breach we are going to get at some point this season is based on the 3 year rolling period culminating in year ending accounts as at 30th June 23 right? We know the underlying loss figure but not what the over all PSR breach is taking into account deductible things like infrastructure? But there have been varying educated guessing about what that figure will be? Transfers and wages and all the good stuff that relate to the period between July 1st 2023 to June 30th 2024 will form the potential second breach. But this is where I’m struggling a bit. We were an EFL club at the time, so is there a precedent where the punishment has been handed up? Shef U are taking their punishment this season rather than have it applied in the prem? im not saying we should ignore it but isn’t there a pretty strong legal case if the punishment gets passed to the EPL from EFL? And could that be why we aren’t actively engaging in the behaviour of a club concerned yet? I.e selling kids to each other for millions? -
To use the way England play and compare it to Pep/Enzo/some other manager in a similar style is just so wrong. It’s comparing Apples to Oranges. There is nothing similar in Southgate’s turgid football that relies on individuals producing moments to that of “Pep-ball”. Pep is all about patterns of play and re-cycling the ball to re-create those patterns of play to point of madness. Enzo was the same. It’s death by passing which yes can be quite boring at times, but there’s method in the madness. England are different, Southgate is a terrible coach, square pegs in round holes, players not knowing what their role is on the pitch. Him and his staff are clueless. Southgate has been successful historically to a point but that was based on Set Pieces, Team Spirit and Kane in his pomp. He’s not been able to get a tune out of some of the best creative talent we’ve seen in generations I’m not some Pep disciple by any means, my personal preference is certainly a more aggressive, fast style of football. But it just annoys me when Southgate’s terrorist ball is even used in the same breath of a manager that is a genius and has re-defined how football is played. Southgate’s legacy is a waistcoat and a Pizza Advert

Positives on the impending Cooper appointment

Tielemans was great for the first 2 years, plus his 6 months on loan. But after his goal in the FA Cup final his performances dropped off a cliff, and that in my eyes in how you’ve described him above. It’s like he became a different player, and it’s a shame because he really was top quality up to that goal, but I struggle myself to look back in any kind of fondness to a player that really should be part of our folklore. I do think it’s a bit unfair Youri became a poster boy for the “lazy and uncaring” tag that though. I never thought he didn’t care, but fitness was certainly a question mark. We were a broken team all across the pitch. And the blame for that solely lies with Rodgers. It takes a special kind of manager to take that squad down -
Big Jannik is a defender who has one glaring weakness, pace in behind. Every other part of his game is at a very good level. It doesn’t surprise me one bit he kept Mitrovic quiet. His kind of striker to deal with, physical rather than fast

You dont turn from the best player in La Liga to a competition winner without the help of a clueless coach -
You’re right 13 wins out of the first 14 was criminal. We should have sacked Enzo in October the fraud
-
His tactics got us off to a flying start, and around Feb we were on for a records points total. His inexperience and inflexibility almost undid all the good work he put in place. Both of those can be true. This isn’t aimed at you, but it generally amuses me how many people see everything as completely black or white. When the answer is almost always somewhere in the middle

I didn’t think Forest classed us as a rival though? So why are they singing about us 🤷♂️

Get another ABBA song in the songbook surely ”Super Coopers blue n white army“ As a first line is just too good to pass up

Can we at least allow him a league game? I can already imagine the fumes on here after the inevitable 1-1 draw against a some lower league cannon fodder like Port Vale or Leeds -
Yeah, but he was shit against Crystal Palace 16 months ago in a team that were devoid on confidence, which means he should get in the bin 👎

Any excuse to roll this out

Someone who has read up on this a bit more than me might say I’m wrong here, but my understanding of PSR is all about accumulating losses over a 3 year period. So even if we’d have banked the majority of the money you mentioned and not spent any (all bar Fofana were prior to this current 3 year cycle) that cash effectively drops off the PSR calculations. So someone like Villa, who sold Grealish for £100m, which is pure profit, 3 years ago. That revenue will drop off soon, meaning they are up shit creek. Same as Brighton, with the MacAllister and Caicedo money. it’s OK selling players, but as soon as you start re-investing it, you’re setting yourself up for a fall if don’t constantly flip your best players then you’re always going to breach at some point. Unless you have huge commercial revenue streams Breaching PSR is nothing to do with not having any money, or wasting what we had (our wage structure was/is hideous) it’s solely a device put in place to stop competition. The Villa chairman was spot on yesterday when he said it’s now about creating Paper Profits, not real profits.

Danny Bakers own goals and gaffs volume 42 was a firm favourite

Also schooled under Bielsa at Leeds when he was in charge of their U23’s. Bielsa highly valued his input apparently

No idea why I’m even wasting my time replying to this post, but surely you can’t believe the drivel that you’ve just written? If it’s an attempt to be funny then it’s even more off the mark than your usual Jim Davidson attempt at humour, but if you genuinely believe it then I really feel sorry for you as I honestly don’t think football is the game for you anymore

This I genuinely find it baffling. So much negativity and distain for a bloke who has led us to promotion Some folk on here just revel in misery I swear, never happy during the good times, and actively enjoy it when things go tits up because it fits their agenda. Odd behaviour

Everyone is inexperienced till they are experienced though right? People seem to forget last season was Enzo’s first full season as a manager, he’ll have learnt an enormous amount about himself and his squad
-
I think he has something worth persevering with for sure. He’s neat and tidy, works hard for the team, ghosts into the box and is generally a good finisher, but this summer is important. When KDH came back after his season at Luton he threw himself into pre-season early and was absolutely determined to force his way into the team. I think Kasey is at a kind of crossroads, if he had kept fit all season we might be having a different conversation but that pulled hammy away at Blackburn put a proper road block in his development, up until then he was getting better and better. But he has Enzo’s trust and if he rips it up in pre-season training I think he’ll play a part
