  1. We competed for several seasons recently West Ham have completed for several season recently Newcastle competed last season villa are competing this season it’s not just about how much you spend. Yes it stacks the odds very firmly in your favour but recent history tells us that it’s not the be all and end all. The mistakes around recruitment and inflated contracts is what screws you over.
  2. If we take us when we were turning over £215m. On wages, amortised transfer spend and agents fees we can spend inside europe 150m outside europe 182m I’m not sure how transfer income is accounted for in the system. transfer spend is annual amortised amount as per now but wages will have to be well down on where they were Perhaps owners of the other 14 have decided that this system means they won’t have to dig into their own pockets as much as they do now.. if all clubs are in a similar position then they’ve basically given up on trying to break into the top six. But the reality is that they can’t spend what they need to now in any case and they end up pumping in their own money to try and compete. You’re probably right that this makes the difference between the rich six and the rest even bigger but owners may be thinking about their own dosh.
  3. Under the proposed new regime, clubs will only be allowed to spend a set percentage of their annual turnover on the wage bill for the first team and its coaching staff, plus the amortised costs of their transfer fees and all agents’ fees. Amortisation is how transfers are accounted for in club’s financial reports, with the cost of acquiring players, including fee and salary, spread out over the length of their contracts. The major difference between the Premier League and UEFA regulations will be that the Premier League will operate a two-tier system, with clubs playing in European competition only able to spend 70 per cent of their turnover, while clubs not competing in Europe able to spend 85 per cent. Contrary to recent reports, clubs that breach the Premier League’s rules will still be subject to points deductions.
  4. There was some stuff on social media about a swap deal with kdh and nketiah. lots of comments about how this makes no sense because we need money pre June 30 it occurs to me that we value kdh at 40m but no one will pay that given our situation. Arsenal value nketiah at 40m but again, no one is paying that for him. so here’s a thought …. We sell kdh to arsenal in June for 40m we buy nketiah in July for 40m positive in our ledger to June 30 of 40m For 24/25 onwards we have negative 8m each season on nketiah. He isn’t worth it but the consequences for our psr position is excellent. the reality is that we will be v lucky to get 30m for kdh in June. arsenal similar with nketiah. The above shows how we can manipulate the situation to our advantage,
  5. Absolutely there are players like rodri who seem never to get a rest (winks) but others are often rested
  6. Israel’s attack on Iran was pretty surgical in taking out generals and other army figures. Do Iran need to be just as targeted in their response? Responding by random targeting of civilian areas would surely be less likely to be seen as reasonable. Causing severe damage/loss of life at a military installation would surely be seen as being proportionate? re the political aspect, netenyahu can only go so far with his military before it’s obvious what he’s doing. The strike in Damascus was justified by one of the generals apparently being involved in oct 7 planning. whilst the ultra nationalists in his coalition wouldn’t be opposed to anything aggressive, there are others who would not support blatant war mongering towards Hezbollah in s Lebanon or Iran itself to keep him in power.
  7. The noise around the Iranians attacking Israel gets louder I still think whatever they decide to do, they’ll do it via Hezbollah and houthis rather than themselves. Hezbollah may not be overly keen on really ramping up stuff though.
  8. I think their three year running total is 90m To end June 2024 they have to get to 83m I don’t know what sales they did post July 1 last summer so don’t know what they need to do this June.
  9. You’re not helping !
  10. Are Plymouth encouraged by watching us last night or scared of a reaction from us ??
  11. People like this surely forfeit their right to a normal life ? always said we should build secure cell units on deserted islands and stick people like this in them. We don’t have the right to take their life but they don’t have the right to anything other than existing. With drones we could deliver food weekly and it’s up to them if they eat it or just let themselves starve. Would be way cheaper than keeping them locked up in prison for twenty years. Never understood why we should be bothered about rehabilitation of people who’ve committed crimes like this. We’re not desperate for anyone like this to become some kind of contributor to society eventually - who cares.
  12. there are many ways around a circle enzo delivered one which was working amazingly well - better than anyone thought possible. that's not to say it was the most pleasing on the eye for many. but it delivered wins, week after week. the trick for a coach is to adapt to a changing situation. rotate some players to keep them fresh. enzo has failed miserably on those two factors. if we stumble across the line and manage to recruit cleverly (no not him) then perhaps he can evolve other ways of playing with more squad options available to him that he trusts.
  13. its almost as if we have to pay another £2m to salzburg if he scores another goal and we've offered him £750k not to score again! fine to run around and try to assist but please don't score
  14. at least he made the keeper save two efforts and scraped the post with the other. patson tends to miss the goal completely
  15. Agree - to me there’s no comparison we knew that was more than likely our only chance to achieve that in our lifetime. If we don’t go up this season and end up screwed by the efl and flounder for a few seasons and possibly end up in league 1 then it’s not something we’ve never seen before. Que sera
  16. Hence no overturn Effectively ref in charge prem league var is stuck between this approach and getting too involved
  17. Assume enzo doesn’t want to expose him to the pressure we’re under this is another problem we’ve given ourselves by dropping off it. Being secure would have enabled us to give youngsters like him some invaluable competitive senior football. So we’d maybe have a enter idea how they’d cope and if we need to buy in their area or not
  18. Difference being that we did create some decent openings on Saturday (although less than usual I agree) yesterday, until the kel and daka added time headers, I think we only had Ricky’s break into the box to show for the evening once Stephy had over run his chance early on. We looked like we thought ‘yeah, we’re back on top where we belong and we just need to rock up and pass it around to win’. We forgot that the other team are fighting for their lives.
  19. I do find the swapping around if wilf and kdh a little bizarre last night firstly, this isn’t a new tactic. He’s done it before and it usually looks like square pegs. He says that it was done for pressing reasons. So the idea was that kdh (who presses higher) would be more effective on the right side - presumably due to millwalls strengths ? Why weaken us to take account of them? our attacking strength within the set up we play is getting the 8 to break beyond the winger (inside) and behind their back line. If the winger doesn’t deliver the short pass into the runner then they can cut inside into the space left and should have either a shot availability or progressive pass to someone in space. By swapping the 8’s we put wilf onto his left foot and kdh his right. Neither of which is likely to end well and whilst wilf did make a couple of fair attempts to do it on the left, kdh seemed to be tasked with a different role to usual on the right. towards the end with Abdul and Dennis on that side, we made inroads on their defensive structure with that tactic and both players ended up getting behind and created our only real chances late on. I would also argue that younus is not a winger likely to take on his player (outside) so having wilf breaking beyond is even more important because coming inside is pretty much the only way he is getting past the full back. He also is calmer than Abdul once in that area. Given Stephy is struggling with his form (he’s been meh for weeks now but keeps retrieving his performance with a wonder goal or calm finish.but his general wing play has dropped off considerably), having kdh supporting him makes more sense that wilf. also, finally bringing on an extra striker to stretch their back line - wow! But why wait till five mins left? Should have been done on 75
  20. This is surely going to be a huge part for of the election debate trump has a problem sitting on two stools at the same time his core support will vote for him whatever so I reckon from here on in, now he has the nomination, expect more comments from his team as per this situation where they oppose the restrictions.
  21. Just looked like he didn’t want to give anything that might upset either side
  22. This does seem to be the case the argument will be that the positives outweigh the negatives in this league those players should be good enough to work it out for themselves
  23. How are we going to get £50 for him ?
  24. Why do the teams we lose to always seem to be fitter and hungrier than us ?
  25. Worst performance of the season
