  1. M&S pulls Christmas advert post after Palestinian flag criticism https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-67294809 There are people out there who actually get up every day and spend their whole time searching for anything, no matter how loose it is , to be offended by ……….. to clarify, this post is nothing to do with what is ongoing in the Middle East see - even I’m having to tread on egg shells!
  2. A lot more than 18 months ago! I would assume there is the ability to payback early and avoid a chunk of interest. And I also assume that the loans may not actually be drawn against - maybe they’re more facilities than loans but the fact we’ve drawn them up so soon likely reflects that we need cash flow now.
  3. At least it wasn’t bleach !
  4. Apparently it always says that - not updated!
  5. on the contrary - the CT's will say that its simply not feasible for the govt to have been as inept as this and they're clearly hiding the truth !
  6. so wise may have saved the club by sticking one on davidson! love that little fella !
  7. These loans possibly indicate what we sold players for Castagne looke like £12.5m Barnes looks like £34.5m of course the first instalment may have been sig larger but in the past, it’s seemed like this is the norm. we don’t know details such as whether we paid the loyalty bonus or if the buying club picked that up as part of the s/o fee due to the player,
  8. Not forgetting that the hospitals were completely overrun as lock down approached and remained so for quite a period after lock down started the error of the messaging as stated yesterday was ‘protect the NHS’ was taken by the public to mean ‘stay away from all healthcare unless you have severe covid’ That sadly led to even more death
  9. Love the way John kept taking the conversation off on a tangent - would have been good to have this episode on YouTube so we could have seen how many times jack rolled his eyes at his old man !
  10. People forget very quickly
  11. It helps to get a sunbed - those Germans know not to mess !
  12. No one is trying to destroy an ethnic group or nation. in 2023 (away from far flung corners of countries where there is no freedom of press) it’s not possible to do that (thankfully). you do know that there are more than fifteen million palestianians across the globe ? (Around 6 million in Gaza/West Bank/Israel). 8000 deaths (if we accept Hamas figures which incidentally include Hamas terrorists) is dreadful but it’s not a genocide. hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died in the Iraq war but I don’t recall anyone ever calling it a genocide ?? language is so important - I apologise if mine is a bit clunky - I’m trying to be as dispassionate as I can be to avoid offending anyone.
  13. the word genocide - it’s banded about way too freely nowadays. when was the last time that an actual genocide was attempted by a state ???
  14. As I said yesterday - I never had a huge issue with the phrase but it has taken on a more sinister meaning in some circles. There are lots of phrases that do this over time - nuances and situations change somewhat. Those who use it now, knowing that it’s offensive to many, do so deliberately. the link you gave is full of historical context but also opinion masquerading as historical context.
  15. govt are entitled to do as they wish within their structure- this is apparently collective responsibility- they should all toe the line in public. That’s not unreasonable but in situations like this it exposes individuals who are already panicking about losing their seats in a year. no one disputes hamza’s right to support the Palestinian cause - the point here is very straightforward. He can go on SM and express his support for that without using a term that he knows is very questionable and in some western countries considered ‘hate speech’. No one is being ‘shut down’ if they choose their words carefully. It’s that type of situation. and again - not removing his like of a post ‘lauding’ 7 October could reveal his real thoughts and I for one do not want to see someone of that mindset play for my club again. I would like to believe that he did that whilst very little was known about was was happening on that day. He needs to come clean on that imo.
  16. Which will probably mean the fa will bring a charge we can debate whether us fans we are ok about him missing games on the basis of his principles - suspect the club will be less understanding would assume someone is supposed to monitor player’s SM posts in order to head off trouble before it takes hold - they’re either on holiday or as ignorant as hamza will claim to be !
  17. Good to see his apology has he deleted his original river/sea message ? has he also unliked his like of a post from 7 October ‘celebrating’ the Hamas attacks ?? if the answer is no then his apology is vacuous
  18. I think where posts are not attributing right or wrong (or quoting from SM which may not be accurate) and constructively discussing strategy or the future then there isn’t much of an issue respect for each other is a big deal in times like these
  19. You’re assuming he isn’t actually ignorant hence my question to an earlier post
  20. Not being pedantic for the sake of it but do you actually know this ?
  21. Yep - NATO have a lot to answer for in Afghanistan and Iraq (and many other places btw) don’t see that many people calling out our govt as terrorists though …..
  22. This is the crux of it for me why hasn’t he deleted that like I’m not particularly bothered about the river to the sea stuff - he’s a footballer, not a brain surgeon and he won’t be the first (or last) person to be ignorant on some things. He vehemently believes in the Palestinian cause - I would assume he involves himself in charitable causes in Gaza and the West Bank. there must be a code of conduct at the club re social media and after the fa cup final I would think he was reminded about his extra responsibilities as a player and becoming involved in political issues. and to say again - a large number of Thais are currently into their third week of captivity in Gaza - wtf are they doing being held ???
  23. Two footed tackle on manor Solomon ……(JK)
  24. Can we discuss the merits of our midfielders social media posts in here ? I appreciate why it’s been taken down on the Lcfc page I would think we can have a reasoned debate/discussion about whether players should be allowed to voice their politics etc
  25. Not harsh - debating is pretty much the same as discussing if I wasn’t really confident then I wouldn’t be pushing the point
