  1. If the last decade has taught us anything about politics then it’s that facts and being truthful are pretty irrelevant when it comes to the electorate …..
  2. I guess up until now he’s considered it best to have her inside the tent peeing out than the other way around she’s a threat to his leadership and whilst there is a chance she could be manipulated into leadership pre GE, he’ll likely try and keep her in cabinet. But at some point he will surely have to get rid because the longer she stays in position the weaker sunak appears.
  3. There is nothing wrong with being ‘anti Israel’ - there are plenty of countries around the world that people could demonstrate against. But you’ve got to be anti Israel for valid personal reasons (which primarily aren’t religion based) . Of course being so motivated to be on an ‘anti any country’ march is going to exclude a lot of people. To go on a march in all weathers every Saturday shows much commitment. This is why many Jewish people here currently feel so distressed. They see 150k marchers every weekend and they assume that there must be at least 15/20k who would happily spit at them. And remember that Jewish people carry a lot of baggage from the past 2000 years. there aren’t many countries that they’ve not been forcibly evicted from or suffered mass murderous attacks in over that period. (And that includes this country btw.) I’d like to think that the vast majority of marchers are there to plead for a ceasefire and a political solution to the issues rather than for any hateful reasons.
  4. That’s right but there’s context if rashford goes a foot past the ball then it’s still within his playing control and if he contacts the defender then the defender is trying to play the ball by going several feet past the ball rashford is endangering the safety of his opponent who has to have his feet somewhere whilst not actually competing for the ball.
  5. Am I the only person (apart from savage) who agrees rashford is a red? there is no need for him to go so far over the ball to protect it - by doing that he is way more likely to come down on the defenders leg or foot a foot past the ball is fine but three feet is not
  6. Sadly if you go onto Google, you will find that instances of rape by soldiers around the world is not a rarity. (Including British and US ). the glass half full assessment of the future is that if the Palestinians can accept a two state solution (without the right of return of refugees into Israel ) then a non Likud Israeli govt post the next GE can lead to something positive. However, that probably also relies on the Americans not electing trump next autumn. that’s probably a naive view on a few levels. Israel’s previous offers of a peace arrangement over the decades has usually met with a refusal from the PLA because they never went far enough. you need to start somewhere though.
  7. My assumption atm is that Israel would agree to ‘humanitarian pauses’ if there was a plausible commitment that a large number of the hostages were to be freed - and then they would need to begin to be freed when the first pause occurred. (And not in two’s) Also, they will not agree to a ceasefire whilst they have Gaza city surrounded and they believe they can slowly remove those Hamas fighters underground there. Afaik, there is no underground link between tunnels below Gaza city and south of the wadi. No idea what they propose to do about the network of tunnels south of the wadi - would they agree to hamas fighters there having free passage to Iran so they can then claim to have rid Gaza of hamas ??? (We know that’s not a realistic outcome but BN has backed himself into a corner by stating that this is the war aim). and Hamas simply won’t release all of the hostages because they are all that is stopping Israel destroying the tunnel network (via oxygen removal? ) and hamas who are living and operating from within them. The time is coming where some fuel will have to be allowed into the strip - reserves are now beginning to run v low. Isreal’s current position is that they are sure that they can get some hostages released in exchange for that fuel. I’m not so sure about that - I don’t think Hamas care about those above ground and if they have sufficient supply to keep their tunnels aerated then they’ll play a game of poker over the fuel. in answer to your question- yes I think a ceasefire works well for Hamas. They can regroup in the south and try to work out how to extract themselves from tunnels in the north. as I said above, it doesn’t work for Israel now they have Gaza city within the grasp of their army and probably many thousands of Hamas fighters there.
  8. Can’t see anyone other than a club fighting to stay up being in for wilf in January and i cant see him making that move he will either go on a free next summer or sign a new deal here if we secure promotion (either way he’ll get a chunky s/o fee)
  9. all that stopping to check for one overturn correction imagine the scenario where you are at least two yards ahead of the defender but your outstretched back foot just reaches the outstretched front foot of the defender = onside not for me And way lower playing time than usual
  10. I think var only made one decision last night which was the pen and sending off. All the other checks were left with the onfield call So we had 20 mins added on for one overturn. it was fine for us who had no dog in the fight but for those at the stadium it’s shite and the first half of 57 mins had the ball in play for just 23!
  11. The way we play he doesn’t have a lot of physical pressing to do - add in the control we have on the ball means winks usually has a first time option to play so rarely has to battle in possession our eights are asked to press and recover the ball - they are our engine and you can see the drop off since wilf hasn’t been available
  12. I’m sure Madders injury was before added time. but VDV was after so it seems Oliver just decided it was safer to call a halt to it !
  13. should do think Bertrand when we won 9-0
  14. He tweaked his ankle But he was subbed off for tactical reasons
  15. There is no relation between man United and Luton’s income I suppose you could say that if a club gets promoted then they have no option but to spend whatever the cost is to install at the moment it takes seven cameras to cover the area of the goal surely it would need a huge number more than that for the whole width of the pitch ? and the height ? How high off the ground do the cameras need to cover ? suppose the best option is simply to make sure that there are two cameras bang in line with the goal line at all grounds so an accurate side on image is available to the var.
  16. I guess anything that doesn’t involve human input and is factual should be ok of course auto offsides still won’t deal with interference issues like the Man City goal last month so we still won’t escape all controversy even with that auto offside will rely on Nike collaboration with the tech involved ( Nike balls in PL) - currently adidas balls only work afaik . regarding goal line tech being used to evaluate ball out of play - should have been done already but maybe not done cos of cost ?
  17. sky showed it on the goal line decision system at some point - ball was bang on the line. half a ball away from being completely over the line.
  18. my daughters car was written off a couple months ago we queried their offer and were informed that they take an average of second hand sales of same car (with mileage adjustments) over the past month
  19. we’ve always left our phones downstairs to recharge at night but our kids have pointed out that in a ‘break in’ emergency that does potentially present some problems
  20. Me neither but business is business and it wouldn’t surprise me to see a party trying to establish itself in the vacuum that the current situation has created
  21. Should we be looking at a Muslim political party being establishing over here? - would seem a democratic development if a large group feel that they are unrepresented
