  1. Agree saving face for his part in the decision and not maybe falling out with a footballing legend probably matters a lot. Top had to trust others with signings such as Cooper and the recruitment team so I wouldn't put the new players as his responsibility Ultimately I'm speculating but suspect Top is really hoping that the next few games will give him justification to keep Ruud on for the first 10 games next season. Personally I don't think the results are suddenly going to turn around performances at home have been particularly poor and Southampton will probably fancy their chances as we needed a bit of luck to beat them last time with the sending off etc
  2. I’m a bit conflicted about the Southampton game. Yes I’d like to see a goal for once maybe even a win. But I can’t help feeling that any glimmer of hope is just going to postpone any reset or managerial change.
  3. This is a game Leicester will be expected to win. With injuries there is very little pace in the side and we have seen how half heartedly City track back if caught on the break. Fairly confident Southampton will have the edge and that should surely force a decision on RVN.
  4. I got the impression last summer that Leicester completely lost focus. The club needed another striker and box to box midfielder with KDH and Kelechi leaving but all that got lost buying average players at inflated prices that were no better than existing players. I remember Cooper saying they had to trust each other on recruitment. I had a vision of people working through spreadsheets knowing little or nothing about how these players would fit in. So we had duplication with Reid/Ayew, Skipp similar to Winks, another albeit younger centre back when Leicester had loads on their books. Bilal has been good but still developing and had no pre season. Finally hired a striker with minutes left in the window that has barely played and similarly in January with Coulibaly. Shambolic.
  5. So in the last 9 months Leicester have handed out two 3 year contracts for managers. RVN came with virtually no prem management experience and Cooper very limited Surely there must be some clauses in them?? But then in January signed a full back on a 4.5 year contract and what happened there. Not to mention Golding from Chelsea last summer for £5m not featured at all.
  6. I have just watched this back. Too many players looked like they were on a pre season friendly . Wilf and Soumare in critical positions jogging back almost got the impression main aim was to remain injury free. Faes gets criticised but Coady struggling too. Doubt any of these players see their future with Leicester so why not change it Ruud?
  7. Personally I’d go for Dyche it won’t be pretty but he’s done it all before at Burnley etc. I think he is fairly local. Looking at the betting odds I cannot get too excited with any of the names. I also think it would be a massive risk to go for Carsley
  8. We can debate the pros and cons of Martin and Dyche but at this moment Leicester need to sort of a mutually acceptable compromise with Ruud if there is one. I’m guessing Leicester want Martin because he is up and coming and more in the Enzo mould. Whether that style will work next year I don’t know but the players simply aren’t performing atm
  9. Fair point. I just think RVN hasn’t been given the easiest ride by decisions over the Summer at all levels of the club. I do think Ruud should take some responsibility and it worries re at press conference that he seems to blame others and the gulf between leagues.
  10. Very few players are out of contract so we need a manager that can inspire and maximise the potential of the existing squad. Ruud may not be responsible for relegation but totally convinced he is not the one to lead Leicester back. Too many squad players look unhappy or unmotivated and we need a completely fresh start (ideally at several levels in the club)
  11. At least that penalty gives a xg of over 1 for a change!!!
  12. Both Soumare and Wilf struggle tracking back but no changes made week in week out. RVN inflexibility becoming hard to understand.
  13. Shaping the future just a bit of positive spin the team selection doesn’t support it as others have said.
  14. Quite honestly I can only think that Ipswich and Southampton being in a similar predicament has saved the manager coupled with his legendary status as a player. He is a good talker but his ultra cautious approach relying on older players and dropping likes of Facundo and Mavididi early on just spiralled into what we have seen at home. He had tried to adopt a different approach now but I am not convinced by him as a manager
  15. West Brom away great escape and the one with Mahrez assist. Goal in the 5 3 United win and the one breaking RVN record and of course the brilliant effort in the 2 0 Liverpool win
  16. McKenna might be retained but he has a lot in the bank with successive promotions from League one and the Championship.
  17. Atmosphere was a bit strange yesterday. It seemed that about 1/3 rd were not regulars and of course expectations were zero. I suppose after 16 defeats in the last 18 games just being level at half time made a change and most were happy enough. That is how far things have fallen
  18. I thought club was planning for next season and giving youngsters a chance to develop? .
  19. I’ve heard these comments about Leicester’s fan base being entitled and unrealistic in their expectations multiple times- usually by journalists and pundits who don’t watch them regularly. IMO most City fans are realistic but this year the recruitment has barely added to the first 11, there has been very little encouragement for the younger players and so little energy on the pitch. Ruud has been talking up the youth being the future of the club but he hasn’t taken risks until the season is virtually done. I was totally expecting a relegation scrap this season but we seem to have been way too negative from day one
  20. I was expecting an announcement after the Newcastle game but I don't think the club want to be seen to be sacking 2 managers in the same season. The performances of other promoted clubs has given the manager some more leeway than normal. I suspect it could even come down to the Southampton and Ipswich games. If City are second best in those games I cannot see any possibility that Ruud will be given a shot at the Championship.
  21. Barnes looks so much fitter at Newcastle than he did at Leicester
  22. Why on earth has Mav been benched for most of the season and surprised to see him subbed when causing havoc
  23. I’d hoped Ricardo could have started. Central midfield Winks still out of favour I don’t think Soumare offers enough but it looks like the manager rates him. At least there are 4 attacking players so more changes than usual
  24. We are 38 pages into a new manager thread but you we know if anyone at the club has even spoken to Ruud about the future in recent days? I didn't get that impression listening to the press conference.
  25. My take on this was that if the squad isn’t good enough or don’t play to their potential then changing the formation won’t do very much. The comment that Leicester are between Southampton and Ipswich as promoted sides played down what expectations should be. Of course he has a point but is it helpful?
