I’m not sure what type of defender he is. He hasn’t came across as a brick shithouse commanding the area and dominating with his size. He didn’t have great reading of the game and his passing out the back wasn’t great. In the Palermo game he was passing to Soumare which didn’t help though. I would’ve preferred Doyle again on loan or use Nelson. They could've saved 10m to use on areas we actually need. It has to be Vestagaard to Winks or pinging up the pitch quickly.

And Hamza is playing where Ricardo has proven he can play. Surely that is one less selection to be concerned about by carrying that partnership on. No, he plays Hamza who doesn’t appear to know what he wants to do for the ball even after calling for it. I’m not sure what the actual style of play and tactics were. I think we need a Vardy meeting already.

He’s an excuse maker. What is worrying is if he can’t see that his tactics/formation and player choice is incorrect and it’s always someone else’s fault or reason. All he had to do was Enzo ball with much less pratting around the back. We might not have the personnel yet, so he has either sacrificed pre season to make a point or he is actually useless. I think it’s the latter. Playing 3 CDM every game and expecting them to suddenly be able to get the ball to the attackers in on goal, then making the change with 10 mins to go. Winks is being stunk out by the players around him getting in his way or giving it away as soon as they get the ball. Surely he could be mixing it up with McAteer. Alves and Golding.

Let’s just keep trying to do short passes in a crowded midfield with a team that have pressed really well all game, and expect Hamza and Ndidi to suddenly have control after 8 seasons.

Maybe 20 more minutes to see what Hamza and Ndidi can really do.

I hope that this is the reason rather than Cooper thinking that is a good line up. By now we should be having our strongest line up getting used to each other and the tactics, not cardio for shit players we can’t sell.

The minutes with him and Alves on the pitch together were the most attacking the midfield has looked all preseason.

If we have the same (lack of) dynamic forward play from JJ and VK, along with leaving Ricky out, my mind will be made up that he is a clueless manager.

FC Backpass.

He’s a shithouse who always knows how to win a foul. Also someone who hasn’t been infested with passing around the back for the sake of it. We need someone to progress the ball quickly. Zaha, Mavadidi and Fatawu should make something happen and be exciting to watch. We just need that person in the middle who isn’t afraid to pass forward.

Cooper has wasted his preseason looking at the old dross that have underperformed over the last 2 seasons. He already has four young hungry players sitting around in Cannon, Alves, Braybrook and Golding.

After his injuries it seemed to have been coached out of him but also like he stops himself from attempting anything. I think what’s frustrating is we have all seen how he used to play and what he’s capable of. He can get forward and whip a good early cross in or get into a shooting position but that was a few seasons ago. Against Norwich when Enzo played him for 20 mins at RW, he looked like a new signing.

I would love to see Ricardo and Fatawu bombing forwards, together at backtracking defenders. You would feel something good would happen more often than not. It would be ok whipping a ball into the box quickly but VK just dithers on the ball allowing the defence to shore up and crowd out Daka. JJ offers no support to Fatawu and VK offers no support to Mavadidi, these two are our only hope for goals at the moment. When both JJ and VK are playing in such a negative style it has to come from the manager, but then I wonder as why would he want VK high up but not get involved more. I think Vestagaard will take longer to lose his patient build up conditioning from last season. He can pass the ball well, he just needs to do it quicker as this style isn’t drawing players like under Enzo. Winks also has an up hill battle as he either has Soumare, Hamza or Ndidi next to him. all three have as much flair as a cheese and onion cob. They can’t turn with the ball so it gets sent back or lost. They also shouldn’t really be expected to be playing that kind of roll.🥴 I would say we are desperate enough where Faes would be a better option in midfield to help Winks win get the ball forward. 🙃

I singled him out as he’s the bottleneck from defence to attack. Often he doesn’t even look forward, slows everything down and passes back. Fatawu was waiting for an overlap several times and he just stood there watching. This isn’t a new observation, he has been like this for at least 3 seasons.

I can’t stand watching JJ play, 9/10 he passes back and when he does go forward he stops still after passing to Fatawu offering no overlap so the ball gets sent back or lost. But I heard him on the RL Christmas podcast at the kids hospital and he came across as a really nice lad.

He just needs another pre season next year to adjust.

Ndidi is useless if he has to do anything other than the slotted pass for Fatawu or his chip across the goal.

Yep. No messing around just whip it into a dangerous area and something might happen. That would be better for Daka, just get in the way and try to poach something.

We must have the least effective full backs in the league with him and JJ. One ignores players in good positions and passes back, the other gets in good positions and passes back.

Faes is holding onto the ball too long and ignoring VK when he moves into space. By the time Faes decides to pass after running with it, VK and Mavadidi are too close together. VK also seems scared to put any sort of cross in

I can’t wait for another season of watching JJ get the ball, stop it and pass back.
