I was referring to Tommy rather than Callum. From what I've seen online, Tommy's contract is up in 2025 (unless he's renewed and I can't see that anywhere) and Callum's in 2027 Also, even with only a year and a bit left, I would think £4m-£5m for Tommy would be a bit mad, as I said in my previous post. But it is what I heard somewhere, however accurate or outlandish it may be.

I'm sure I heard a commentator remark recently that he could be available for as little as £4m-£5m (I presumed you meant Tommy rather than Callum btw). Would be bonkers if true, even with a year left on his current deal by the time the summer comes around. Him and McAtee would be a very good start to the window. Sensi on a free as well and we're cooking. Proper alternatives to Mavididi and Fatawu would be crucial too, as you say.

This is up there as one of the worst Premier League performances by Sheffield United. Absolutely abysmal. The first goal set the tone as well. The covering defender just jogging back expecting the ball to go in despite Ahmedhozic making good ground, which ended up giving McGinn the freedom of the penalty area to smash in when the ball rebounded back out.

Think Yunus deserves a chance from the start personally but we can be assured of his super sub status at least. Let's see what Kasey can do in that position. Good to have options and players capable of playing in multiple positions. Absolutely buzzing to have Fatawu back though. Forget about Sensi, Abdul's our Starboy and he's going to have these oatcakes toasted, roasted and spat out in disgust.

Before relegation we were on the brink re FFP/PSR weren't we. Victims of having to pay over the odds to attract players and compete with bigger clubs who can afford better players but also pay less for similar targets. Sorting out that mess upon relegation was always going to be a huge job and it isn't complete yet. We still have a number of players who are drawing decent wages but are surplus to requirements: Ward, Iversen, Thomas, Souttar for starters. Then there are other big earners who could end up leaving in the summer, including Vardy, Albrighton, Iheanacho, Ndidi, Daka. The summer should be another reset and help us meet those FFP/PSR objectives, but we're also going to need to take some sort of risks paying relatively high transfer fees and wages to be competitive and help avoid relegation. Even if we keep some of the high earners (those who aren't deadwood) above, we're still going to need to spend. So, there should be more wriggle room and we'll be able to spend in the summer, but we may still be in a similar position as now next Jan - that's my prediction anyway

Anyone entertaining the possibility that Inter are the ones dicking around with this? I'm not saying we're totally blameless but it also looks like they've been trying to squeeze every last penny out of us for a player they barely play and who is leaving for free in the summer anyway.

Ugh, Leeds would be a crap transfer but can't begrudge him a move as he just isn't in our plans at all. Sheff Utd would be perfect especially if we can convince them to do a permanent deal and he'd be part of their plans regardless of them staying up or not.

We're ripping this league a new one. We're far too good for most teams in the division. Once we go up, it'll be more precarious for those who like a twitchy ar5ehole. I genuinely worry that this kind of thing will become a self-fulfilling prophecy though. The vocal minority complaining while we're on course for a record season and bouncing back to the Premier League at the first attempt, playing the kind of football that, if we sign the right players, could be extremely successful in the top tier. More and more people will join in because it becomes the opinion to agree with and eventually Enzo will walk because we're booing a 4-0 win instead of a plucky 2-2 draw against the odds.

Would be nice if this happens. Proper backup for Winks would be really good. I don't trust when Ricky has to work alongside Choudhury. We're just not quite the same team. But on the other hand, we're 10 points clear. We've responded well to all our setbacks this season. Clearly, we don't need Sensi to get promoted. If we don't get him now, maybe we'll pick him up on a free in the summer. If not, it's fine. We did a decent amount of business last summer and we'll get deals done to hopefully consolidate Premier League status if we get there. I'm pretty zen about this whatever happens.

Looks busy, has some physicality about him, don't think he's put a foot wrong so far. Would be interesting to see how he'd fare given more minutes with these first-team players around him.

I agree with the summations above. I can also imagine that Sensi himself doesn't want to lumber himself with another 2 years in the Champ if we do somehow blow this. Protects all parties really.

A really good second half from him yesterday, I think. He was really able to show his ball carrying and ball retention skills, finding good pockets of space in front of their backline. I still think he can be our version of Bernardo Silva and hope he gets the chance to 'catch fire' now. Cracking finish from him as well.

Completely agree with the post but just wanted to highlight this bit because, generally, I think that this sentiment is repeated generation after generation with older generations exasperated with younger folk. But, in my opinion and experience, although there are always complete outliers (who tend to attract headlines through their idiocy), most people in every generation are decent, capable and have at least a modicum of common sense

We're seven points clear of second place, eight points clear of third. Even with our new propensity of shipping late goals, we're drawing games against the top teams (Sheffield Wednesday aside) and losing when we have a man disadvantage. We're still comfortably beating a lot of the cross in the division, something that even Leeds and Southampton can't guarantee. I'll never take promotion for granted, but some of the football we're playing is good enough. Despite conceding the late goal last night, some of the defending was excellent too. If we can sort out the one slight fragility we currently have, we'll be unstoppable again

So Iversen out on loan, Casadei returned to Chelsea and Smithies retired. Thomas back in but no guarantee of inclusion in the first team squad? So that leaves 2-3 spaces in the squad, but with Iversen not guaranteed to leave permanently so maybe only space for 1 permanent signing, that's just on spaces only, not factoring in wages and FFP. So, Sensi in permanently and, if we can do it and there's someone good enough available, a loan in.
