Hermansen Coady Faes Okoli Ricardo Fatawu Ndidi Winks Soule Mavididi Vardy Fatawu at LWB is a big shout but I think it suits him well. We lose him cutting in as a winger but on the left providing width could be just as effective in an entirely different way.

At first glance, he certainly doesn't seem to be a cultured, ball playing CB. I wonder if that's by design? If we do play a back 3, have the middle CB be that ball playing defender with Faes and Vestergaard alternating that rile depending on how high a line we want that day. Then have more traditional CBs either side with Okoli/Nelson to one side and Souttar/Coady to the other... It's certainly not ideal but plays to the strength of our current options and with the addition to a set-piece coach, could offer a threat at the other end to.

Post from the wrong account at first? Lol!

If there is any truth in this then BDR MUST be predominantly back up for the left or attacking mid.
-
Saying no player there is worth over £10m is about as outdated as the term "SPL"
-
For £11m it SHOULD be!
-
BDR is versatile but he's primarily a right sided player. Even if something had happened with the Fatawu deal (I don't believe it has) why would you play Mavididi AND BDR on opposite sides from that they are both comfortable with?
-
For me, the biggest issue with this is that it indicates there's no departure on the horizon for Daka. Even though I expect a striker to come in, I don't imagine we will sign two so if Cannon goes on loan, I imagine Daka will stay and I'd much prefer it the other way around.
-
No.... can play there but predominantly plays on the right.
-
If this is all a big rouse for KP to funnel funds into the club via a dodgy company that they fund, you would think that the very least they could have done was pick one with a half decent logo!
-
Not happening. They will want about £20m.
-
Yes but these squad players are potentially more in demand as they have no transfer fee attached to them, where the our first team targets are more complicated to sign so we have to act quicker. I really don't get it. Everything you are saying (we don't have much money, our squad is bloated) points to the fact that signing an unattached player who can play multiple positions and who has experience at this level is the smarter move yet you are so against it. Think about it. Already, BDR gives us in one squad place what Cassadei, Praet, Albrighton, Marcal, Mcateer, yunus and even Ihneacho gave us last year. He can play all those positions to as good or even better level in some cases, has a great injury record and only takes up one wage instead of 7... it's smarter from a business sense and is essentially the potential solution to all the objections you've had with how we've been run recently.
-
...and in that scenario we end up with even worse squad players as the ones released by PL clubs have signed somewhere else and we have to make do with the ones released from championship teams etc. It doesn't really matter what order we do it in, our needs remain the same and as long as we address them with the best possible players we can... it's 6 and half a dozen.
-
I hope so but there is every chance it could be modeled by ol' Rudkin himself.
-
Yeah, we do. Doesn't change the fact that we still need back up players and one who can play 6 positions and has no transfer fee attached to him makes sense.
-
So you want to drop Fatawu then? That's what you're saying, is it not? He's starting RW and you want to sign someone better than him to take his place...
-
I think that was the point behind the design of it.
-
Not one to get Overly excited about but a solid player who, at PL level will offer cover to about 6 different positions and bring experience. First name on the bench and for free... that's nothing to be sniffed at.
-
They were all chased off with pitchforks and fish puns.
-
He's a player I was thinking about the other day when I saw his name on a released list. Not one that jumps out at you but he always seemed to play well against us.
-
People's reactions are weird. For YEARS all we see on here are people banging on about us returning to our old transfer policy of young, raw but untested player for modest fees yet, here we have a young, raw but untestested player for what is by modern PL standard a modest fee and here you are bitching! We are not going to get a Jaimie Vardy for £1m or a Mahrez for half that. That's niave and unrealistic. Kante, Maddison, Okazaki, Fofana, are the type of moves we can hope to make and they were all risks, as is this one...

Yup! Still the only poster I trust as a result.

Think that might have been a result of him not committing to them.
