Why would he lie to you?
-
I was being facetious. I'm VERY worried about this season. We need several creative players - and in my opinion a decent centre back - and a miracle - to survive this season.
-
Any team where Ward isn't in goal has to be a better starting 11 than 2 seasons ago. Yes we had Barnes and Maddison, but we also had Tielmans who'd given up and Rodgers in charge. I'm not saying the starting 11 looks good, far far far from it, but ... at least no Danny Ward (I hope).

Feel like we need this and Fotis to both happen and sooner rather than later. Ideally in time to make the bench against Spurs (can't see either being thrown straight in even with our injuries, but will hopefully mean they are able to make an impact from game 1). We're so poor right now, defensively and creating chances ... I still want us to sign 1 more decent centre back, ideally with some pace, before the window closes, as well as maybe another midfielder on top of these two transfers.

Exactly this. I'll admit I wasn't overly keen on him as a choice of manager, but let's give the guy a chance first. Pre-season may not have given us a lot of hope, but it's not a true test of what's to come. I'd have liked to see more signs of progress, but it's not how we play in the preseason that matters. Let's do our part as fans and get behind him and the team while he's here.

We have amazing facilities, a history of progressing players who sign for the top clubs in Europe, and an enviable recent history with a fair amount of silverwear to show for our achievements- all of which should make us a fantastic place to be at, but let's be realistic about the current state we're in, we're going to be few top players first choice destination.
-
We have to sign someone, what we have now is clearly not good enough. We're not a particularly attractive place to be right now, so we're going to have to take a risk, but I'm not about to discount someone purely based on the league they play in.
-
"We need to move quickly so no one else puts in a last minute offer and he decides to go there instead!" "47p .... 48p .... 49p ....Okay, I'm just checking we have enough. £7 million right?. Damn I've lost count again. 1p .... 2p .... 3p"
-
I'm sure he wants to come to the King Power too. He loves scoring against us...

Those good ol' "Fixes" back in the top flight ...
-
Can't believe we're finally signing a fairly decent midfielder with Premier league experience and everyone is still complaining. Yes it would be nicer to be signing him permanently, but let's look at it money saved allowing us to sign someone else. We're going to need sign a few more players capable of fighting for a first team place, if we want to still be in the top flight next season.

Agree with those upset we're just developing another team's player for them, but, and it's a big BUT, right now we need a team of players capable of keeping us up, regardless of what happens after. It's unfortunate if we loan a few players who play well, keep us up, but we've no chance of keeping, but if it means this time next year we're still in the Premier league and with better looking finances, I'd take it.

I know. I'm not convinced Okoli is going to solve our defensive issues though.
-
Am I the only one still worried about our centre backs too? We definitely need creative players but I'd break the bank for a decent pacy centre back...
-
I am confused though. I saw this thread was hot and clicked on it to see people's opinions on Daka ...
-
Fairly certain we were all relying on Roma not being able to afford Soule. Look how that turned out ...
-
Gutted by this news. Knew him and his family very well.
-
I think he means the other one. Southampton - small fishing village - just south of Florence. Not really known for its football though.
-
I've got to say I wasn't particularly pleased by the link, so yesterday I went on the Palace forum, and like some other are saying on here they seem to really like him. I couldn't see a single negative post about him. They also seemed to think he wouldn't go. I'm desperate for us to sign some raw hungry talent that will help us play exciting football this season and be worth a large profit a few seasons down the line, but we're going to have to trust our club have learnt their lessons from the past and have a plan with a mix of youth and experience to help us stay up this season, while heading back towards the enviable recruitment plan we used to have not so long ago, which will put us back in a position to have the finances to compete with the top half of the league rather than fighting relegation season after season... Maybe we'll just have to accept the odd uninspiring signing who, will help on the pitch when it matters, to claw those points that might make a difference at the end of the season.

Which tier would "my mate down at the pub heard a rumour from a friend of a friend" be?
-
Probably explains why every time we say something derogatory towards him we end up linked with someone like Ayew. Rudkin is saying, "I'll show them!" We could have signed Soule but he pulled the plug because someone said something bad on here about him, and he's poised to pull out of the race for Hatate too if we continue the hate... They don't call him "Petty Rudkin" for nothing.

I love logging in to Foxestalk, and looking through the transfer thread to see what tangents the posters have taken. Heaven forbid we actually discuss the player the thread relates to.
-
You can't leave out Richardo. When fit he's often one of the first names I'd put down on the team sheet.
-
Completely agree. I was being a little facetious, more a swipe at Southgate than Cooper. I'm not going to bemoan an incoming manager before he's had a chance. Last time I was very disappointed with an appointment, my friend Nigel had been sacked and we'd appointed a rather uninspiring elderly Italian who was past his best .... Funnily enough I changed my opinion on him during the course of the season.
-
I was literally about to say could be worse could be Southgate.
