I personally think, Skipp has the tenacity and energy to play the number 6 role, Ndidi the number 8 (forming the double pivot) and let El Khannouss & Buonanotte fight it out for the creative role. This would mean dropping Winks. But hey ho, it is a squad game, and Winksy will just have to wait for the injury to happen, or settle for coming off the bench to replace anyone in that three man midfield, to firm up the game, late on

There’s been quite abit of praise for Okoli against Palace, but I thought Faes made some two or three great blocks. Very happy with that partnership, both credible displays. Yes, they have a Rick or two in them, but let’s hope they come infrequently.

It seems pretty clear and easy to me, tbh. This ‘experiment’ with Ndidi playing further forward isn’t going to work in the premier league. We have two decent options in the standard three midfield roles: Nididi / Choudhury - Ball winner 6 Winks / Skipp - Classic number 8 El Khannouss / Buonanotte - Attacking 8 or no.10 One of the two options for each position and that’s that. Keep it simple. We shouldn’t be judging Ndidi on having to play the attacking 8 role. Despite Enzo playing him in his weird little spell in charge, it’s just not his role.

START the game with some flair on the pitch, try and get some goals, THEN keep it tight, hit them on the break with Fatawu, and Ayew holding up the ball and drawing the fouls. Come on Steve, it’s a simple game!

Against the more pacy attacks, like Villa, he has to play Okoli, if he plays a 4, as Vestergaard has the pace of a Robin Reliant with a puncture
