  1. I'm willing to bet that very few, if any, of the benefits City residents currently enjoy such as more frequent rubbish/ recycling collection, free bulk waste collections and pest control will materialise for us. They'll claim now they have a larger area of responsibility, they can no longer afford such things. Also, if our house rateable value is higher than a currently comparable in the city, it will remain so.
  2. A few years ago, I stepped out from a building and started to put my coat on. It was quite windy and it took me 3 or 4 attempts to 'swing' it around so I could put my other arm in. A fella aged in his 20s I guess, witnessing my struggles came up to me and asked if I needed any help. He meant well but crikey, I was only in my 50s at the time and nearly said pi$$ off you cheeky sod.
  3. Vast, Vast majority of the people affected against this and the county councillors . Democracy in action eh? Bollox.
  4. Just need to get away from football for now. I delayed putting the news on for ages because I guessed they would be inevitably speaking with several loud, upbeat female fans. Waited 30 mins put BBC News 24 and......... they were speaking with several loud, upbeat and laughing, female fans.
  5. Something to do with Trump being President of Argentina too?
  6. Wonder it Tuchel will do a 'Sir Alf' at the end of the match?
  7. Argentina win the singing the anthem with gusto stakes.
  8. Cagliari fan on hearing they have a new signing..... Cagliari fan after checking on FT
  9. I believe a councillor funded his own referendum on this and a massive majority did not wish to fall under the city council. Democracy in action.
  10. It seems to me that this happens all the time. Application for a development is made that gets refused by the relevant local authorities, so the builder just goes to the government and then gets the green light. Yet still, brown field sites continue to be ignored for housing development.
  11. You've only just twigged that.
  12. Ash die back initiative in Leicestershire
  13. Do shows like The Detectorists and Early Doors go down well in America does anyone know? Gentle paced but very, very good in my opinion. I once read that Police Squad was better received in the UK because of its sight gags, subtle humour and that the viewer needed to really watch for all these aspects. American audiences seemed to often prefer a more 'In your face' type of humour.
  14. Choir? I adore choral singing. Once auditioned for the school choir but was rejected as soon as I opened my mouth.
  15. The girl in the latest Sainsbury ad is an employee. It is their policy to use their staff in ads apparently Not the voiceover in the ad though, that's Stephen Fry.
  16. My initial reaction was serves the cheating #*%@ right. However, this morning, I found my self thinking about my playing days, only park football but still relevant I think Sometimes you would see a strong tackle coming in from the corner of your eye, and you jump or try to 'ride' the tackle. In slow motion I can well imagine it often appears as simulation. In this situation though he clearly feigns contact by clutching his leg so yes, quite embarrassing.
  17. I think it could be a moot point now. If the police just state they are looking for a 'British National', then it is far more often than not a non white person of interest.
  18. Wouldn't be surprised to hear after the match that Kane was carrying a knock. Very ineffective.
  19. We look absolutely shot, don't we? Seems to be just a matter of (extra?) time before we concede.
  20. Great time to score - just before the first 'Hydration Break '
  21. Are we playing lower league opposition for our friendlies? You know, teams from our division.
