  1. The Beatles and George Martin had a policy of not putting singles on albums. George Martin said they felt it was 'conning' the public. I don't believe there was pressure from EMI either, regarding Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane. It was their manager, Brian Epstein, who felt they needed a lift and a single release was way overdue. GM then offered the two titles mentioned, which were going on the album but were then left off for the reasons I've already mentioned. Regarding 'throwaway' songs you refer to; When I'm 64, was a big hit with mums and dad's at the time and remember, The Beatles appeal was broad. I also would contest that Good Morning, Good Morning is not a throwaway either. I agree - and so would George Martin - that the White Album could have been an outstanding single album as opposed to being 'only' very good. Apparently, the extra songs were including as a way of meeting a contractual commitment. Plus, of course, they had written quite a lot in India prior to the recording.
  2. Colourised yes, not sure about AI. I think it's damage from the traffic accident on the vehicle you mention. Also, the chap on the left just happens to be the same head height as the column behind him which has paint or some other feature on it.
  3. I said on these boards back in 2010 that selling to the Thai's won't end well. Mind you, I also said a couple of years later, that spending a million on a non league player was plain daft. I guess one out if two ain't bad?
  4. Last of 'The Few'
  5. Given all the other 'deals' Rudkin has negotiated, I'm not sure that's the case.
  6. His only chance will be if he can prevent the current squad going down to Div one after next season. That'll be no mean feat.
  7. A defeat, any defeat used to hurt a lot. Now, I couldn't care less. In fact, let's go for it. Not only lose the remaining games, lose without scoring another goal. Let's go down in football folklore.
  8. The Geordie lads are a bit soft these days, I haven't seen a single bare chested one in the crowd.
  9. Last chance to see Man U at the KP for many a year?
  10. They couldn't score if they had a goalie with M.E. in goal either
  11. Another post from me to suggest/evidence Alexa/ Google or whatever, monitor you ALL the time. We had a conversation yesterday about the merits - or not, of a towel rail in our bathroom as opposed to a conventional radiator. We only chatted about it. No Internet searches, calls, nothing. Today, I keep getting ads for radiators whichever site I'm on - including FT.
  12. I retired a couple of years ago. One of the first things I did was to join several other 'oldies' and give up some of our free time to help with 11 and 12 year old at our local college, who need extra support with their reading. You don't have to be on the scrapheap and, crucially, young and old can engage in a mutually beneficial way. Also, it is far too simplistic to try and alienate/blame these two groups from one another and to claim one is much better off (or worse off) than the other - as some try to do.
  13. He'll have to contend with a couple of back passes at most.
  14. We do indeed. Not only that, the club have it ready to play - just in case....
  15. Did we? My memory of that match is a little foggy.
  16. I've said it before, a good rousing chorus of ' What a load of rubbish'
  17. Watched the 1st two episodes of 'Candy. A Death in Texas' on channel 4 last night. Next two episodes are on tonight. True story and quite fascinating. I couldn't resist reading about the case however, on t'internet and couldn't believe what I read. I mean wtf! I won't spoil it for those watching but incase you're interested, here's the details.
  18. If someone said to me at Christmas, you will not be playing Cov or Derby next season I would be thinking great, we stay up. Alas, not.
  19. After all the positive posts I was intrigued, so started watching Severance. Well, call me an heretic, but three and a half episodes in and Mrs. FFF and I have pulled the plug. That's all.
  20. That winner against Palace was weird. Like so many others have said, there seemed to be a delay in realising it was a goal. Almost like reality had stood still or you couldn't quite believe what had just happened. I think with Kalac coming on and expecting the ref to blow, I think we had 'checked-out' and resigned to penalties.
  21. I discovered 4 editions of the Leicester Mercury from the 1980s whilst sorting through some boxes at home. I went retro and read them at the table whilst having some tea and also when sitting in the lounge - just like my dad used to. Made a change from glancing at my phone. Anyway, there was loads to read, local news of course, some national news, sport, even looked through the 'Miscellaneous Sales and the 'Hatched, Matched and Dispatched columns too. Really highlighted how news reporting and the way it is done, has deteriorated on a local level
  22. CITY AND GUILDS Director of Football Exam Please tick only one answer. Question One: You beat a rival 9-0 at their gaff. How do then proceed? A) Look back at the match, study what went well and try to repeat in future games? B) Do nothing? C) Buy or otherwise aquire, two of that teams defenders?
  23. FFS Vesty, not only do you lose your man, you can't keep an eye on your dog.
