I guess it might be due to some sort of 'gallows' humour and/or resignation, but I'm beginning to think I can't wait for the season to begin just to see how bad we are. Never, ever felt this way before looking towards a new season. Bizarre.

I'm sure Rudkin would have thought about a clause in his contract along the lines of, if we're not in the top six come Christmas, we can mutually agree to part ways. Equally, if we miss out on promotion, he'll be 'released' with no, or very little, compo. Rudkin would have thought of that, wouldn't he?

I would love to crawl into the mindset of Top and Rudkin. They make mistake, after mistake, after mistake yet, presumably, they feel they are competent and worthy of their roles. Bewildering, baffling and suspicious.
