  1. Saw him last week walking the dog. He likes being reminded of it.
  2. Scot;and's handling is impeccable. The speed that they move the ball out to the wide channels is a complete nightmare for England's defence....again!
  3. White runs in yet another try against England. Sensational play,
  4. You have to laugh at one of Lineker's recollections involving a midweek reserve game. He stormed into the changing room at half time picked him up by the scruff of the neck and pinned him against the wall snarling, "you lazy, wee English s*****." And that was at 2-1 up having scored both the goals!
  5. If your name is Vladimir Putin, basically, Russia must be allowed to keep all the land it occupies, in addition to Ukraine ceding all of the provinces that the Kremlin lays claim to but does not currently control. Ukraine must officially end its plans to join NATO.
  6. And talking of which, the other renowned far right (ex) presidential freak (although there are depressingly many to choose from), Jair Bolsonaro is facing charges for an alleged coup plot and incitement amongst his supporters to riot in order to seize back power in Brazil after losing the election. I wonder where on Earth he got that idea from?

  8. I brought this precise point up in early in the Ukraine thread but more in terms of the vulnerability of the Baltic States if it was well defended by Russian forces. However, When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago, it sent shockwaves through neighbouring countries. The biggest war on the European continent since the end of the Second World War caused a complete re-evaluation of previous assumptions and strategies - particularly in Scandinavia and Sweden and Finland joining as member nations which was a massive own goal for the Kremlin. The accession of Finland to NATO also doubled the length of the alliance’s border with Russia. This has in the Kremlin’s own words forced Russia to take counter-measures to ensure its own security, tactically and strategically. I would suggest that increased exposure to a NATO member reduces the chances of any Russian attack on other NATO members bordering the Suwałki Gap which although sandwiched by Belarus and Kaliningrad, has nonetheless now lost its tactical significance.
  9. Russia is not going to "attack Poland next year".

Perfect way to round off a Sunday out in the fields with the dog. Decent stout followed by a Laphroaig 10...
  11. I know not everyone agrees with his contributions to this forum but this thread title is a tad harsh.
  12. What astonishes me is not only the fact that people bought the replica shirt but even inadvertently endorsing and displaying this shit by wearing it is reprehensible.
  13. @Daggers - 12 years old?
  14. Please take this as a compliment, but I always imagined that you were, how should I put it? - a more senior contributor to this forum - maybe on the cusp of retirement age. That you are rejoining CAMRA for a second time perhaps supports that assumption?
  15. I'd say, superbly entertaining game, but fraught with errors to the point of being comedic at one point. However when both sides made it count it was exquisite and one of the best finishes I can recall in the nations for years. France could have killed it in the first half, but then Smith uncharacteristically cost us 5 points. This is precisely what some of these players need for their confidence. What a scalp!
  16. Very uncharacteristic handling errors form Pernaud and Dupont. That deft kick for the try though. Ramos looks particularly ominous. England need to make their replacements count. I thought that there wasn't enough impact last week against Ireland.
  17. Until a Russian spy ship such as the Yantar operated by the Minoborony (in the guise of a supposed oceanic research vessel) coordinates their severance that is.

I'd recommend one. Takes a minute or two to set up. 'Mark Steele's in Town' toured the Bushmills distillery in Coleraine and someone asked about putting ice in single malt whisky.

  20. Data returned from Copernicus shows that January was the warmest on record at 1.75°C above the 1850 to 1900 average, beating the previous record set a year earlier, when temperatures were 1.7°C above pre-industrial levels. And this is despite an emerging La Niña.
  21. Unfortunately she became more renowned for the "dirty old man's fantasy" surrounding the Redlands raid concocted by the Daily Mail, (involving Jagger, the fur rug and the Mars Bar) than her talents as artist. By the early 70s, she was homeless and strung out on smack and denied an equal writing credit for 'Sister Morphine' for which Jagger/Richards took sole credit. 'Wild Horses' also off 'Sicky Fingers' is allegedly written about her. A quirky, unpredictable enigma, she certainly lead a colourful life. RIP 'Girl on a Motorcycle'.
  22. There's a few on this forum that would do the world a huge favour if they were to become Trappist Monks.
