Realistic Managerial Replacements
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
It feels unlikely but worth asking the question. Clearly was well thought of while here and might have a bit of guilt for leaving the way he did. Should be quick enough to get an answer if he doesn't fancy it, and then we need to move onto the next candidate asap! -
Leicester, Wigan, Portsmouth and now Palace. Non-"big six" tams winning the FA Cup unlocks a curse.

Maybe it's nostalgia but seems like there are loads of really good business in there (until the helicopter crash, at least). Strikers alone: Kane, Kramaric, Wood, Yakubu, Phillips...! This team would win the league at a canter: Schwarzer Bruma Morgan Huth Van Arnholt Mahrez Tielemans Ndidi Gray Kramaric Kane Even a second string would probably batter our current XI Ricardo Woyo Bamba Wague Mee Marshall Drinkwater Amartey Tete Wood Yakubu

Soumare sold to Al-Duhail SC - Official
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
They say good things come in threes... Faes out, Cifuentes out, Soumare out. It would be nice if we could spend some of the fortune saved, but I genuinely think our dressing room, team and training will be a better place just taking those elements out. -

They hired him for Leuven... Quote from the appointment Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, chief executive of King Power International, added: "Nigel is an incredibly good manager with a wealth of knowledge, good people skills and a strong winner's mentality. He will put OHL on track for the next few years." -

Has Top definitely gone? I know his plane has left, but that doesn't necessarily mean he was on board. -
Who de we need in January?

Signed for Sevilla after a brief spell at Marseille. 6 goals in his last 59 games. Must have some agent. -

He'd be great. Proven firefighter at Wolves last year, plus a whole lot more. -

I had this thought when Coleman got mentioned. Similar to Preki and Jesse Marsch (who we'd take in a heartbeat now...!). -

I'd like it in the summer - not mid-season into a relegation fight with a burning dressing room. The last two managers have been prospects who drowned in the job. Let's get some experience in the dugout until the summer - then go for a longer-term option like Skubala. -

Realistic Managerial Replacements

I'm by no means a massive fan of Gary Rowett () but he's been a top half Championship manager for the last decade. Improved Brum, Millwall and Derby loads. His career is basically "takes over a basket case, stabilises them, then the club looks for somebody sexier". We could do a lot worse than have somebody with that experience as an interim. FWIW Oxford are a League One club with mental directors. Apparently Rowett is stubborn and stood up to them. Again, not something that would be bad at Leicester...! -

I live in Oxford, know lots of Oxford United fans who really rated him and didn't want him sacked. They were in a worse state than us last season when he came in and he comfortably kept them up. Know how to firefight and knows the Championship inside out. -

As a summer appointment maybe, but we're in a crisis and we need somebody who has experience dragging a club out of one. And quickly. -

Taking the top 10 on Odds checker, my order from most wanted to least would be 1. Pearson 2. Hassenhutl 3. Rowett 4. Robins 5. O'Neil 6. Carsley 7. Skubala 8. King 9. Sheehan 10. Martin Can't see McInnes anywhere - seems extremely unlikely we will pinch a manager currently in a job, and equally unlikely a manager would leave a team in 1st for our shambles mid-season! -
Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha Interview
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
There's going to be a lot of confirmation bias with anything we read or hear from him - as seems to be the case with anyone in authority these days. That said, his thinking seems oddly childlike. All evidence points to him being out of his depth - and these interviews will only add to that perception. -

He's obviously doing well at Hearts, but at Bristol City he got fired after losing 7 games in a row - with the final straw being a 4-0 loss to Leicester. Reminds me of the tactical mastermind we hired after beating his QPR team 6-1 We need somebody who has experience walking into a crisis and turning it around. For me, that's a six-month contract for Pearson, Mowbray or Rowett. -
Ex Players - They used to play for us

D'oh! I had him in my XI then changed it to playing in England... then forgot to put him in the other list with all the foreign lads! -

Be interesting to see where our ex- players would finish if playing together in 2026. Particularly as we broke the bank swapping them for absolute nonsense Still playing in England: Iversen Justin Fofana Maguire Castagne Barnes Tielemans KDH Schlupp Maddison Wood Not to mention those still playing abroad: Kante, Mahrez, Cags, Perez, Lookman, Ndidi, Nacho, Kasper, Kramaric... Kane -

Haha, fair enough - terrible examples! Maybe I should have said Alex Ferguson at St Mirren I don't particularly want Rowett but friends who support both Oxford and Birmingham rated him. I liked him as a player for us as well, albeit he was only here briefly. I agree it's an underwhelming name but I feel like he'd be a pretty safe stabiliser, nowhere near as risky as most other names linked. And definitely an upgrade on Cifuentes... -

LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Plenty of good managers got fired by small outfits. Eddie Howe at Burnley, Marco Silva at Hull, Claudio Ranieri at Greece... I live in Oxford now and know loads of Oxford United fans who really rate Rowett as a solid manager. Kept them up against all odds last year and kept them out the relegation zone all this season. They say he got fired for off pitch reasons - not much of a yes man, fell out with the owners who have this odd belief they should be a "top 30" club. Top half of the Championship and flirting with promotion. Most managers would fail with that objective! I think there are better candidates out there but also seems like Rowett has a lot of what we need. -

Fingers crossed we didn't give them a favourable option to cancel the loan and lumber us with his wages again...
