Nice to have players developed through the youth ranks, but I don't think he's that good. He's OK at everything and excellent at nothing. That's still a very useful skillset, but I would snap anyone's hand off if they're offering £40m plus. KDH is also utterly one-footed, which is always going to be limiting at the top level. His stock will never be higher than coming off the back of a Championship season.

I'd prefer Potter but Moyes would be a solid choice. We're a basket case club and his experience makes him very appealing to me. 20+ years as a Premier League manager and in his most recent job he took over a club of similar size threatened with relegation and turned them into European qualifiers (and even won a trophy). He's a bit boring and would require a significant change of style, but realistically we need to do that when stepping up to the Prem anyway.
-
Graham Potter seems the obvious choice. Would be a shame to lose Enzo, but not the end of the world. He's very stubborn and might refuse to change from a style that could see us battered most weeks in the Prem. Also, presumably the payment for him would count towards balancing the FFP books?

I used to live nearby a few years back and went here a few times, never knew it had a connection to Leicester City. What's the link? -
Sammie Szmodics - signed for Ipswich

Before this season I'd have dismissed him as a bog standard Championship player. The stats from this year make him worth a look - and I'd trust Enzo to know if he'll be able to cut it in the Prem. -
Sorry to ask, but if anyone has a stream I'd appreciate a link. Assumed all the Champ final games would be on Sky Go today but I can only see 3 games.

Does an embargo and points penalty await the next time we are in the Championship? If so, even less incentive to comply with Premier League FFP! Even playing it safe, I think we could stay up next season starting on -6. The vast majority of clubs would have stayed up this season with a 10 point deduction - Bournemouth and Wolves would have been fine with a 20 point deduction! So starting on something like -6 does not mean we're doomed. If a relegation didn't come with a double punishment, I'd rather risk that while playing it safe and only spending what we earn (/save from expired contracts).

Who do you want for next season in the PL
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to Fightforever's topic in Transfer Talk
Obviously Fatawu must be made permanent. I think we need at least 2x CB, 1x RB, 2x CM, and 1x ST. That's a lot of business for one summer! Knowing we don't have much money, some possible free transfer targets: Defenders Mario Hermoso (Atletico, CB) Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham, CB) Ben Johnson (West Ham, RB) Midfielders Callum O'Hare (Coventry, CM) Josh Brownhill (Burnley, CM) Stefano Sensi (Inter, CM) Forwards Che Adams (Southampton, ST) Luka Jovic (Milan, ST) -
My anger has reduced, but I still don't want to see him again this season. Being positive about him, he does keep trying and (while he's never been remotely great) he has been better in his career than he has in the last few games in isolation. But I don't think it's ever going to work out for him here, and it's not working to play him out of this bad form.

We played 452 tbf. Drinkwater in the middle then Kante either side of him.

4-0 win. Calling it now! Mads Coady Vestegaard Doyle Ricardo Winks Albrighton Akgun KDH Fatawu Cannon 60th minute: Mavididi, Ndidi, Vardy on Albrighton, Akgun and Cannon off 70th minute: Justin, Choudhury on Doyle, Pereira off

Yeah - but surely ess of a loss than not selling them and not getting them off the wage bill? I find off field stuff tedious tbh, but it seems like we're just passively continue to meander along into financial calamity without seeming to try to do anything about it! -

The latter would sadly be the sensible thing to do. But I still can't understand why we can't sell any players. I get that most are on outrageous wages no sane club would match, but surely we should just hold our noses and use some of a transfer fee to pay them off. I get that some players would have to be replaced, but what's the point wracking up debt paying international footballers like Harry Souttar and Danny Ward to rot in our training ground? -
I agree. We'd have to pay him a 'loyalty bonus' that would get him off our books and onto somebody else's. We should be doing this for all of the sub-par players whose wages are crippling the club. Eg Souttar, Ward, Iversen, Kristiansen, Soumare, Daka. And we should have done it a long time ago to many, many more. I'd much rather directly pay Daka a good chunk of the transfer fee we'd receive for him to get him to accept a lower contract elsewhere. Not unrealistic to think we could get somebody to pay us a fee equal to or more than the ~£8m we owe him. Otherwise we're just throwing good money after bad, continuing to wrack up debts and keeping crap players until they inevitably leave on a free.
-
Can't stand him. Extremely limited and extremely arrogant. Hot headed and overly aggressive. Not good enough. And an arsehole. Sell sell sell. Even if we have to pay him off so the next club can pay him the much lower wages he actually deserves.
-
We have to find a way to sell this donkey. He might have some aspects to his game, but you can't be a striker who can't finish. Especially if playing as a solo striker.
-
Time to actually rotate this squad. Mads Justin Coady Souttar/Nelson Doyle Choudhury Praet Albrighton Iheanacho Fatawu Cannon This should have been the team tonight, then back to the 'first XI' and normal system on Friday. (For the record - this team would obviously lose to the team that started today if everyone was fully fit, but we can't expect them to play 3x 90 minute matches in six days).

Christ there's some spoilt brats in our fanbase. Big half coming up -
This. We voted for the rules then broke them. I'm finding the whole thing embarrassing - the reckless spend, the reckless spend still resulting in relegation and then the relegation resulting in an attempt to hide from the consequences we ourselves voted for. If we continue down this road we will be made into a scapegoat to stop others doing the same.

Better player than Faes. Should be starting with Veste
-
I know the pressure is increasing and that's frustrating as for a long part of the season it looked like we'd coast to promotion, but the moaning on this forum is so over the top. We're playing away to a good team sitting in the play offs, who beat us when we were absolutely flying. Since then they've added some real quality and have lost 1 in the last 9 games. This is the hardest remaining fixture and we're doing ok. Hoping Ndidi can give us 30 good minutes...
-
6th in the table. Since Cavalho joined they've only had 1 loss in 9 games. We should be better than them, but they're not rubbish.

Pretty sure they can - Fofana at Burnley, McAtee at Sheffield United. Just the player can't play against their home club.
